Another thing to consider is how procs interact in powers with long recharges. Your aoe hold and confuse are good places to pull sneaky good aoe damage on top of your regular attacks. Total Domination I typically set 5 of the purple hold set w/the proc plus I add in the pvp dmg proc. They each will usually fire on more than half of the targets affected by that hold for 80-100 additional damage each.

Pretty sure your teammates still benefit from defense values you slot for in this. If you're only going to short slot it Lotg is a fine slotting. But I have a few slots to spare here and there and to be considerate to teammates I try to buff their defense a bit more plus getting those nice bonuses from Reactive along with that scaling damage resist.

I don't use mids. I'm pretty proficient in math and like to tinker. I can pass along some hieroglyphs though for the Shield powers. Battle Agility - 6 Shield Walls Deflection - 2 Aegis w/psi resist, 1 Impervium psi resist, 3 Lotg True Grit - 2 Impervium armor w/psi res, Steadfast unique, 3 Preventative med w/absorb Active Defenses - 50+5 Recharge Against All Odds - 50+5 End Redux Phalanx Fighting - 1 Lotg +recharge Grant Cover - 3 Reactive Defenses w/scaling res Shield Charge - 6 Armageddon One with the Shield - 6 Unbreakable Guard I target hp and psi resist bonuses along with any other resist bonus. This is my full on tank Recluse build though. I have a 2nd dmg proc'd forsake others build.

Tankers are nigh invincible, all of them. My only tanker is a Shield tanker, she's a blast to play. The offensive attack in the defensive primary is a great addition to your arsenal at no cost to your survivability. You can get 3200+ hp, capped positional defenses, a debuffing taunt shield that lowers enemies damage around you while powering yours, a shield that offers teammates a large amount of defense, and great resists and capped resists in spurts if you take and use the t9. Only thing Shield really lacks is a heal but you will hardly ever notice the need. Supremely well rounded power set.

Is farming an imbalanced method of earning ingame rewards?
Mezmera replied to macskull's topic in General Discussion
I might be a culprit here. At times I will just go and clean out my character's pool when I see my tabs start turning red. I'll list the good stuff for the bottom price showing last and I will list anything less than a million for 5 inf. If I'm undercutting the vultures all the better! It's my way of giving back if not directly. If it's a marketer that gets my stuff odds are it's @Yomo Kimyata which I've just saved myself some time giving people money directly since he will do it for me. -
Is farming an imbalanced method of earning ingame rewards?
Mezmera replied to macskull's topic in General Discussion
It's like hosting a poker game where anyone can gamble and quit at their leisure but the dealer takes 10% of every pot. Nothing is being generated, values are just transferring. Ultimately the 10% of monies is being removed from the table to not be seen again, unless you start looking around at all of Jimmy's new toys. Jimmy is 100%. The house always wins. Always.... -

Niet. As I did not answer in the specific context asked to explain my reasoning I'll just leave it at this. There's many viable methods to earning things in this game available to all, to each their own. -
New to the game. Need help with Going Rogue TF
Mezmera replied to CallMeMal's topic in General Discussion
Welcome! Like others are saying if it's task forces you seek the most optimal choice would be to start out as a Hero. Blue being the oldest is the most fleshed out, Red has better writing and more character but a little more lacking in the TF department, although once you get to mid-20s and 30's I find the Villain TF's to be better quality and in more quantity by then. Going Rogue was the last expansion which was yet another tutorial zone but they really honed their writing and crafting of content with that expansion but they didn't get a chance to fully develop it like Heroes and Villains. I do recommend playing TF's a lot since they are a great way to get merits which help you get special enhancements for your character. -
They really amped up those tanker aoe's. My StJ tank has always had that spinning roundhouse aoe kick that was meh that I took to slot a purple set. Now it feels like I'm in a Van Damme triple take action shot roundhousing everything in sight.

Yes what I know from a friend is that he likes to boast that his Shield scrapper is superior to a friends Brute's version because shield bash is quite noticeably better on the scrapper. Plus he feels that Scrapper survivability is adequate in comparison to a Brute's especially for the damage you're sacrificing.
-
Another thing to consider is that if I've heard it correct that Brutes don't benefit from fury affecting shield bash because it is a quasi pet and that the Scrapper version of Shield is superior in that it's inherent ability of critting isn't restricted. I'm not for sure since I don't play either AT but my Shield tank finds shield bash to be a very effective power and that's without being able to crit most of the targets.

What Is Your Travel Power Do You Shoehorn In?
Mezmera replied to Erratic1's topic in General Discussion
If what I think you're suggesting is that we need a new pool power that incorporates all of the activities within these comics good idea! In this pool we would need a travel "Let's Get This Party Started" that'll just fast forward us to the action sequences which we can just port over from LFG, then we'd need a monolog type power and eventually a plot hole type power in this pool. -

Mezmera replied to Erratic1's topic in General Discussion
If you're going a Cap-esque character yes what others are saying that CJ + Athletic Run + Sprint is your movement of choice. Typically I'll only take one travel and usually it's Mighty Leap from the Force of Will pool. -
I've done a few of those. Some are just outrageously tough. Like the ones where the mob is all EB's with harsh debuffs and an AV sprinkled into each one. All those AV's are a bit much. There's one in Linea's creation that I felt would be a good bar. It was a map full of mobs of Bosses, Lts and an EB with beam rifles and decent debuffs. There was roving ambushes that really messed you up if you weren't paying attention. It was a strong plucky adventure without being death on a stick so long as you were capable in maximizing your abilities. The worst thing about it was the ugly Arachnos map. I was set for +4/8 on that but if there was a way for a mission like that to identify when you actually have X amount in your team and scale it without spawning mobs of all AV's I'd think that would be a good benchmark. Looking forward to what you have in store for my dom. She hasn't chipped a nail in a while.

I don't disagree with this. I'd think some aoe abilities actually need to be toned down a tad so people feel better getting off their long animating powers and other things like control and support feel more noticeable. Knockback is fine and all but I do think Bonfire as it is is broken. Fix some control in Fire and fix this exploit as well as a few other obvious exploitable powers.

My shield tanker is a blast to play. The offensive pbaoe attack is a boon to any pbaoe light tanker assault you may have chosen. I've built her to have all positional defenses soft capped against incarnate content using just the IO system. With great defenses comes great endurance drain mitigation. If something does get through that wipes out my endurance like Lord Recluse's attacks that's what I take One with the Shield for, if everything gets shut down I have a huge burst of resistance and endurance recovery to power me through. Along with the defenses she has 3200+ hp and pretty good regular resists without the t9. Then there's the damage reducing/boosting taunt shield and the team defense shield. Aside from having a heal and the indirect endurance drain mitigation Shield is quite well rounded. That's not to say there's not other good pairings. My tank is Shield/StJ, good pbaoe and strong ST with some nice subtle debuffs.

What do you think is the most even power set?
Mezmera replied to Kung Fu Cow's topic in General Discussion
For control and aggro control it's just going to be an uneven feel leveling. Tanks and control need to take their primary powers so they are of use to the team as advertised. Doms do bloom late in the 30's and 40's because this is where they get their best assaults and should already have their control situated, same with Controllers but they get more support later on. Tanks finally can get more than jab+taunt into their repertoire. Most of the other AT's get their fun assaults in their primary so they can take what they like and then dabble in their secondary when each of those powers becomes available. -
I saw that steadfast statement and was like "lol what you got scammed" so I immediately had a dismissal attitude of the rest of what she had to say. Looking at the rest of what was said she wasn't far off on some other things. Although the pvp uniques I do recall being sold off market early on they tapered down to a little over a billion after bit. I get it though selling off market saves from the auction's cut. The other thing is that in no way did anyone's build at any point total out to be anywhere near 30 billion, unless you added diamond engravings to your IO sets of course.
-
Yeah the regular stuff you got from pve content was in much higher availability. The pvp IO's being only dropped from pvp activity made those ones quite rare which I do recall selling one of those uniques for a billion (I was lukcy enough to have two of those drop for me), but I don't doubt those ones were actually being sold off market higher than I recall due to rareness. The converters were still a bit new to have an affect yet on the prices for those and like you say the merit cost for those was pretty high. P2w gaming sure does love its carrots on sticks.
-
Early on after people found out how good they were in a build yeah they were pricey. This was before pvp IO's. But they tapered down to less than 100 mil after while. 75 mil was about the norm. Still outrageous though.
-
Um I think Luminara is a bit overdramatizing how much things cost back on live. There's no way the steadfast and gladiator unique cost THAT much but I do remember the pvp unique being a billion. The purples usually did range from 40-80 million and the specific uniques were quite a bit pricey because converters weren't a thing yet so you HAD to buy exactly what you wanted. A really well built toon cost you about 1-1.5 billion not considering a few specific uniques and like others have said that influence seems to come much more free flowing on the player run servers. I only had a handful of decked out toons on live, the rest of my characters got the scraps. On HC every character I have gets fully decked out. Best thing about these servers are that the grind is sooooo much less than what it was before, it's almost like they want you to enjoy playing.

Well now, who is that charming... uh... who are you again?
Mezmera replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
Most often these things are said in playful jest. Don't take it seriously. I don't want my character list to become a who's who of the land of misfit toys that no longer get played with, that's just my style. Some people like Chocolate, some Vanilla, some like half and half and others want all that and sprinkles. There's all kinds of different ways to play this, I like to do it as humorously as I can though. -

Hey I feel you I have an Ice Armor stalker. You'd probably trade me your Hiber for Icy Bastion I suppose though. Okay so we don't have to use the word "gimp". Sentinels are good-challenged. 😜 Yeah the game is great, there's every which way to play it for broad appeal.
