Dark/Invul

I love this combo on a  Brute and am soloing redside with these powersets on a Tank.   After thinking about various Scrappers all day it just struck me... i got to see this in a Scrap

only done 2 DFBs. Level 12. Of course i like it

one thing. I gave inly seen one crit in 2 runs. A couple Dark powers do not have % crit in their detailed info on power screens. Does thus set not crit with many if its powers ?

Having my coffee before work and looking at Dark Melee in the standard testing thread. A couple things come to mind.

1) Dark Melee is a ST excellent set.  Since this appears to be a more farm like environment DM would not be expected to perform well

2) Dark Melee has the tools of a secondary slapped into a Primary. A good, dependable heal that is part of an attack chain. A 30 sec damage buff!  (With no crash!) a PBAoE End Recovery power.  This last cannot be overstated. This power will fuel the hungriest of Secondaries. It was designed to. Dark Armor has so many toggles if you die you spend seven minutes casting spells to bring them all back up

Basically i am appreciative of the data. I love data. But i love discussion as well. What does the data mean?

I slap Dark Melee on a Brute Tank or Scrapper paired with Invulnerability and throw some recharge on the build.  That will be one of the toughest Brutes Tanks or Scrappers you will find. Even just in SOs compared with other SO builds you will find few tougher including Stone Armor

Yes Titan Weapons deserve top spot on the charts. It was designed to make the company money lol. Steak sells. But DM has been the bread and butter of many tough builds for years. Titan weapons creates imbalances that need to be compensated for. Dark Melee solves imbalances and will do you proud standing againt EBs and AVs

The DM attacks should be critting as expected on a scrapper. I've got a DM/Inv brute and a DM/Bio scrapper right now, love them both. Oddly, my scrapper is a pure concept build and her attack chain is nothing but Smite, SP, AirSup, SP, repeat. AirSup, of course and unfortunately, never crits but the other two do and more so since she has the scrapper AT IOs. The no crit on pool powers is an oversight that should have been corrected LONG before the snap occurred.

This may not last, however, as there's really no reason a skinless woman kept alive by blood magic couldn't use said magic for another self-heal or a major hold. But that's my one major gripe with DM these days... the best attack chain for the brute is MG, Gloom, SL, Gloom, repeat. Nothing but left-hand jutting foward over and over. Gets boring. I don't know if the dark snipe for scrappers is left or right handed.

Gotta say on the dm/inv brute... yea, that sucker is HARD to kill. Much more so than I expected.

Yeah i ran one i/o’d on live built for recharge.  I am going to enjoy pushing this Scrapper build with modern i/o s and see how mean it can get

I've had a dm/inv as my main since 2005. It can be a bit tanky if it needs to be, but still easy to play over your head some. My main concern is that it's just very slow at dealing damage vs other melee toons. I've just leveled an inv/dm tank to 50, so we'll see how different that is!

This is a very tough scrapper pairing.  I've never done Inv but I've been on my Claws/SR and watched a SG mates DM/ Inv tank Recluse on a STF that could easily have been a Masters run.  (Memories are too old to recall if it actually was)

This.  I have a DM/Inv that was my main for a long time on Live.  I'm not sure I've built a more durable scrapper as it, too, was able to tank LR.  I solo'd a MoITF without inspirations or Incarnates back on Live(thank you Iggy for the inspiration) (where is that guy anyhow?).

DM/ can provide fantastic ST damage thanks to Soul Drain.  Outside of pairing it with /shield, I had one of the higher DPS numbers on the old Live Pylon Damage thread.  AVs were a cakewalk.

By no means am I looking for a pat on the back because it's just a game, but it shows you the potential of how great this pairing can be.

When I remade Heraclea on HC, I made her Inv/DM rather than Inv/SS.  I had an Inv/DM back on Victory, and Dark Melee just brought so much more to the table that this character became my goto for master runs and such.  So this time I made it my main.

Dark Melee also pairs excellently with Willpower, which lacks a self heal.   With enough recharge and recovery slotting you can also use the AoEs as aggro attractors.

I was actually getting ready to tag you in this thread when I saw your reply lol.

Also, I too am curious about Iggy!

I loved my dark/invuln back in the day. I used Actin's build and that scrap was neigh invincible. I used to run the Freakshow (post aggro cap) and it would be no problem. It was such an overlooked build combo. Everyone was katana or regen or both.

Just laugh, smile knowingly and proceed to eat every last enemy in your range.

My main on live was also Dark/Invuln. Such a beast even before IOs. I've replaced him with Dark/Shield on Homecoming, but he is not forgotten!
