ET = speed current animation by 1.5 secs

(For TF and ET changes above, I was hoping speeding up the existing animation would be easier than reworking the entire animation, or the letdown of borrowing from other sets.  Lastly, the time reductions are ballparks, I'm sure the devs will have a more precise figure, but the point is to make the attacks feel more fluid and useful)

 

I'd rather see EM stay ST focused with some faster animations on those two big hitters and help it get up there on the ST DPS.  I love the stuns too.

EM needs more aoe whether it stays ST focused or not. bare minimum the 1 aoe it has needs the radius extended to the same as the current Assault version.

 

However aoe is king in COH so it should have a lot more aoe than that. no, it probably should not be as good as aoe as TW or elec melee, but a lot more aoe it needs.

AOE may be king, but then one can play a set that is AOE focused.  Energy Melee was never an AOE focused set.  There are plenty of players out there who are happy and want to play sets that are top ranking in ST.

I didnt say that it was I said that even if it  wont be changed to aoe focus it needs a lot more aoe than it has now since what it has now is unnaceptable for any set.

As EM has no -meaningful- secondary effects, and a worse damage type, she should probably be notably better single target than fire, with slightly worse AOE.

 

Not balancing around TW, because its such an outlier

Sets like MA are well known as well for their lack of AoE, I don't really see EM really needing the AoE push, and honestly, with what I personally want it to do, I want it to reign hard as a single target king.

Let's chalk this up to not understanding Energy Melee.

 

I feel it trades multi target damage (AoE, Cone, Aura, etc) for single target damage.

 

Not all sets need to be the same. I feel, as many do, that variety and unique aspects are good.

AOE is far more useful than high ST in 99.9% of COH. that means EVERY set needs decent aoe, whether some are better at it or not.

 

Energy Melee aoe as is is so pathetic the set is awful even if that was the only issue with it. Bare BARE minimum, whirling hands needs its cooldown shortened and its radius increased to the size of the assault version.

Need I remind you people rarely use MA? It's one of the underperforming sets for a reason.

I wouldn't say people "rarely use" MA, I also didn't pretend like it was a FotM. I said that MA has its place for its great ST and it does fine there. For the PBAoE having its radius increased, I honestly am not against that and sort of agree with you, but by the same point I do not think it needs to "give up" one of its powers to gain an AoE, nor do I think the set should revolve around having a *ton* of AoE.

Exactly.  I want to see EM ported to Scrappers and I want to see it be an awesome ST DPS MACHINE!

 

But most importantly, besides the port to Scrappers, I would like to see ET and TF get faster animations.

Frankly I see the overabundance of AoE at this point in the life of the game as a problem that doesn't need fed anymore then it has been.

 

But if we're making requests to change the set more then just rolling the animation changes back? Maybe update it to a more modernish set?  I'd rather see the build up changed. 

 

(IMO) Build up is a waste of a power slot in most power sets and should be changed to something more mechanically and thematically appropriate in almost all cases.

Does anyone know if the dev team ARE still at work on this?  I check up on the Beta patch notes now and then just to try and catch a glimpse of what may be in the pipeline, but haven't seen anything in a while, it seems.  Not to sound at ALL ungrateful for the FREE work they do and we get to benefit from, just it's nice to have something to look forward to and get excited for, y'know?

It was mentioned as a possible item for the next Issue . Could be a little bit and we'll get to see it on the test servers well before it hitting live.

Blergh.  Haven't see any updates to the test servers since April.  I'm just super anxious for THIS change because one of my fave toons (thematically) is an EM/EnA Brute, and if this happens, I might just be able to find a good build and make him my "main" hero 🤩

Invuln/EM tank, here.  Currently playing up (slowly!) a replacement for the one lost with live out of sheer optimism.

Remember the pain of leveling her before, Ive elected to do a ‘full contact completion run’... set at -1, run everything, turn off XP to avoid outleveling contacts, etc.

 

Removes all the stress from not being able to XP faster, and ties character advancement to story progression/people helped/city saved rather than to rate of minion murder.

 

Is really relaxing.  Would recommend.

Always felt cox has damage backwards most of the time.... These super long animations don't do enough damage to justify standing there and for the power to miss as often as it does even on high accuracy builds is beyond ridiculous.

 

The aoe medium damage stun suggestion is a better upgrade. CC's on a damage character are only useful in pvp  wait nope not since the castle pvp update.

 

Also wouldn't mind seeing the energy storing gimmick that energy dominators have ported over to energy melee. That makes the slower animated stuff cast faster like a fast snipe style melee attack.

Is this the one you mentioned in thr Proc Monster thread?

I was actually wondering how your progress was going, as I want to do a similar build to the one you posted, as opposed to the one Sir Myshkin used. His numbers were pretty impressive though.
