Snarky
So i leveled a Dark Dark to 50 a few months back. Never even fought Trapdoor. Just stripped it and parked it Because i knew I wasnt ready for it and that irritated me I did not remember enough about builds. I had no infamy to even start the build and i had no idea what to throw on it so i ran a lot of other stuff (mostly SS Invul and a Invul Dark Tank) but alted for months today that changed. I had a crapton of enhancers in my base. I had a Billion inf. I searched through the forums and found a build by one of the people i respect. And tore it apart lol. It had the wrong attack set (dark dark builds are hard to find on the forums) but i now knew what i wanted. The theory and the rules. I swapped out sets based on fundamental principles like do not chase Def on a Res set. My Res went up (two purple sets added). My defense down. Especially energy defense from low 40 to 30s. And Energy Res went up to ...50. Hmmm. But i trusted what i had been reading. Was able to keep s/l at 45.5 def. But i really was not just chasing more resistance. I squeezed on those two purple sets, another LOTG and added Haste. 70% recharge before i touch Haste or look at Incarnates my End was horrid. But i would throw some Emps at it and got a tier 3 Cardiac Core Alpha. Prob solved then i bought the enhancers respec’d and went through the incarnate arc. Yep. End was baaaaad after i incarnated i got that cardiac lol then i ran PI for a full level, A Khan, and a Market Crash. this character does not run at all like a refular Brute. It runs like a ghetto melee Dom with armor and HP. I use the little PBAoEs as damage firing them off whenever they are up (they are up very quickly). The Def>Res>Heal leaves out the top level. Mez>Def>Res>Heal. This thing stuns and fears like a champ. Then chews through anything but bosses fast fast. The damage buff is nearly always up anyways glad i finally got to build this out. I meant to post this Saturday night. Sunday i ran Synapse. I was careful in respec as the build leveled it would be playable. It was good. No end issues which was shocking. And i needed a Citadel a Manti and a Numina. Ran well through those. An ITF. This thing is a beast. I farmed two maps s/l the first choice in AE. At +2/x8 went well. i ran a Keyes. Okay. I died there. But the AV caught me in a bunker lol. And i died again. But even tanks die in iTrials. Bottom line. Very happy to have this build in my crew. This will be a go to for some time. Snarky
3 hours ago, Troo said: This is a special type of brute. Yes. It feeds off recharge. I have played a lot iofBrutes. I knew this was what i wanted from Dark Dark. Had to learn how to make money and build it first all the PBAoE are attacks. The buff, the heal, and the end recovery. For tactics they are spammed as attacks. I was surprised to find even in a Synapse when i exemped down this was true no one pays much attention to the beast because it gets a stealth aura. All of its damage is when you are right up on it. Just a little patch of hate. It farms well. I havent cranked it past +2 on a farm but it clears +2/x8 like a lawnmower Edited February 13, 2020 by Snarky

Ruby Rocket
I run a dark/dark scrapper with high recharge. I just dropped a heal/recharge and a -resistance proc from gladiator fury in dark regen. How is the damage slotting it out like that? I wonder if the damage aspect would outpace the -resistance. I spam the crap out of dark regen (mainly because I’m a Scrapper and +4/8 fire farms hurt), but have never really thought of it as an attack worth slotting. It is effective for driving shadow maul from 324 to 368 on a +4 comic con fire farm. I may need to revisit that power while I try to work touch of fear back into my build. Do not slot / proc Dark Regen for damage. In my opinion. I was in a very stupid TF last night cranked 4/8 with really just two of us working. Dark Regen (normally ignored) saved my bacon a lot. It does shit damage and needs to be slotted for some recharge and accuracy. i use a 5 slot obliteration that caps its damage but the set was chosen for set bonuses, not damage. if there was a heal set that had better bonuses i would switch it right now.

KauaiJim
By coincidence that was one of the changes I made. I haven't started him yet but I was trying to shore up Def a tiny bit plus thought it might be fun to try using Arcane Blast as a quick runner snipe that has a chance to give me a big boost. Not sure how well that will work in reality. Then I added Rune for a buffer. I also tacked in some incarnates to get an idea of what ultimately can be done. It's still what you put together for the most part with a few changes (that don't necessarily make it better just more what I would want to try out). For fun turn on the incarnates and take a peek. Oops - I posted the build with them turned on. Take a peek to get an idea, then turn them back off to compare. Sovera
If you feel like trying something dumb you can either go with EM/Dark and keep on stunning everything via AoEs + ST + Oppressive Gloom, or go Ice/Dark and dropping an Ice Patch (soon to be 1.5 seconds instead of 3.4) keeping you safe while you're hurting things. While Ice is not super in the ST Frost alone carries it. I frankly prefer not to take Frozen Aura since it detracts from Frost, but heck, I take Frozen Aura anyway (even though I don't like using it, and sometimes don't). 1 - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds. I think I am committed. Plus, beyond concept (which I love) the AoE buff power and End Recovery power in Dark Melee just mesh so perfectly with Dark Armor. The DoT just climbed through the roof on a saturated Soul Drain.
Kung Fu Cow
Let’s drag this out of the way back machine. Did you ever make any changes based on the rework of dark on this guy? I have a level 50 dark/dark I never did much with, was thinking I might see how I can fix him because frankly he was always a bit underwhelming, and I found your thread where you really loved your guy. Mack008
FWIW... Dark Regen can take 4 different damage procs. Each one will have a 56% chance of going off. Roughly speaking, that would be 140 points of damage to each target at level 50. So if you want it to do damage, you can. But you will have to give up some set bonuses in the process.
