These sets are anti-synergistic. Dual Pistols will try to keep you away from enemies at a safe range at the sacrifice of some damage, fire manipulation will keep you in melee range due to burn and FSC as well as those auras. Is this a new concept toon with a theme or what exactly are you trying to achieve with this? I'm not being rude, I'm just strictly telling you how these play.

How so?  Is the Blaster version different from all of the other variants?  Does Blaster DP keep the knockback on its attacks like Dual Wield/Empty Clips while running Incendiary/Chemical/Cryo ammo?

It does, and all but one power (the t9) is range-based and kind of prefers you to play at a distance (the cones, the target aoe, etc.) the way animations are, it just works out better most of the time to play something like fire blast.

On my DP blaster, switching to fire ammo disables the KB.   I actually have some of my DP attacks fitted with a KB set (Force Feedback) because it's useful to have strong, reliable KB when you want it, and KB definitely does not happen with fire ammo toggled.  Oddly the KnockDOWN from the nuke does, but that's the only thing.

Hail of Bullets considers part of its knockdown chance a secondary effect.  The elemental ammo types replace whatever is flagged as "secondary effect" with a new one. 

Hail of Bullets does a number of things all the time (e.g., defense buff during the animation) and regardless of what ammo power you have running (and running none at all is still considered a power) you have a chance to KD at the end of it.  It just so happens that running Standard Ammo (so no element) makes that KD chance 100%.

Hot Foot is a slow, and that and the aura are whittling down anyone charging into melee.  Hot Foot also can take a knockdown proc for added funsies. Then you smack them silly with a fire sword.

 

Also: Hot Foot -> Build Up -> Burn -> Hail of Bullets.  Judgement?  What Judgement?

A) You skipped Bullet Rain.  Wow.

B) 1-slotted Stamina.  Wow.

C) Very End-intensive build

D) Soft-cap energy, close with S/L.  Nice!

E) Pretty expensive build, low +dam buff (no assault?)

F) Burn and Hot Feet.  Do you need both?

 

A) I'd definitely swap piercing rounds out for bullet rain.  Bullet Rain (BR) is much more congruent with Fire Sword Circle and Hail of Bullets.  Even though BR is targeted AoE, I find myself using it as PBAoE half the time.  Gives you a lot more flexibility.

 

B & C) Needing Ageless to have enough endurance is not a good strategy; especially if you do TFs and non-incarnate stuff.  I'd try to get 1 more slot in there, and 1 more in health, which should be Miracle and then Panacea before Numi.

 

D) It's great you got energy soft-capped, but I find with a good blaster build, high 30's is often fine because A) you're usually teamed and buffed, or B) pop 1 purple insp and hit soft-cap as needed for solo.

 

E) I know you're using veng as a LotG mule, but I'd rather have assault (even at 10.5%) than 0%.  DP is light in the damage arena for a blaster set, so I shoot for as high a +dam as I can w/o gimping too much.  Like I said above, I'll drop 5-10% of S/L/E defense for +10-20% damage buffs.  YMMV.

 

F) I was debating taking Hot Feet over Burn (I can only fit 1 in my current build), and after trying both, Hot Feet is far too situational and end-intensive to be really useful, whereas Burn I was using much more often.  I'm curious, if you had to pick one, which would it be?

Was that about my build?  I'll explain for those interested:

 

A.) It was between Bullet Rain and Empty Clips and I like the animations and recharge rate more on the latter.   Bouncing in and out of the herd with FSC and EC is my go-to when I don't have HoB up.

 

B.) Its actually two-slotted, as well as Cauterizing Aura.  At level 50, she should be getting 5.28 end/sec.  She's getting 4.8 end/sec right now with the build less than halfway done.

 

C.) Not really?   Endurance consumption's at 2.14 end/sec, and see above.  I've never had to worry about the blue bar with her.

 

D.) Thanks!  The winter IOs are gonna be pricey, but soft-capping S/L/E/F/C should do her wonders.

 

E.) I always aim for perma-hasten along with capping as much defense as possible.  With how much more accessible purples and ATOs are here, I always aim high.  Sunbow's one of my more favorite alts, I play her constantly so there's no problem with picking up merits and drops.  And Assault on a non-support build never sat well with me, that's too much of the power budget for just a 10.5% damage buff.  Mids' says she's getting a 48.5% buff with the assault hybrid as it is.

 

F.) Hot Feet and Burn are great for making things in your face go away, or make them hurt a lot if they still want to stick around.  I also pretty much exclusively group over solo these days, so being able to spread the damage and ride shotgun with the tankers and brutes is always a plus.

I have a DP/Fire.. its a great set.. Have HOB down to 17 seconds.. Range, Energy, Negative Cap and I am doing 3/8 for overall speed.  I think it tons of fun with the AOE..
