Radiation/War Mace Tanker Build

Lucidity712

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I finally got my Rad/WM tank to 50 today, now its time for a respec. I'd love to use this toon for farming, and I'm looking for a build that would fit that.

I used to play years ago on live, but all these new additions to the game are very confusing! (Especially these IO sets)

Could someone point me in the direction of what kind of sets I should be looking for? I've seen a few builds here on these forums with Rad Armor but nothing with War Mace.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I have not made this pairing yet but I'll make you a build in the morning. I might add that while you "could" farm with this build.. It's not going to be that good at all. It would be great for regular content though! You could make a Spines/Fire or Radiation Melee/Fire Brute and save 100's and 100's of hours in farm time by using those two builds instead of this Tank. My Spines/Fire/Mu Brute can clear some of the most popular farm maps in 4 minutes, I'd wager that it would take a Radiation/War Mace Tank 10+ minutes even with the best build possible. So, I'll make you the build, But I could not recommend using it to farm. But you totally can if saving time is not a factor!

edit: What kind of farming are you planning on doing?

Ok fair enough! I'm actually in the middle of leveling a Spines/Fire brute so I can just use that once he's 50. No need to make a farming build for my Rad/WM tank then, but I would appreciate a good build for regular content if you don't mind! Thanks for the advice!

Man, I hope not. I use a Granite/SS tank and could clear +4/x8 maps in 6-7 minutes...and I suck at farming haha (I tend to not use inspirations). Is the AoE on War Mace that bad?

Granted, we might do different maps. I typically use Briggs.

But your overall assessment I agree with. A Rad/WM Tank would do very well in regular content

I may have overexaggerated, I was thinking that because Mace is a weapon set, all of your AoE would mostly have to come from Mace to avoid redraw. So any Epics/Primary AoE would be a bit clunky. Mace actually has decent AoE. So maybe it would be only 50% slower on average. 4 minutes for Spines/Fire, 6-8 minutes for a Rad/WM Tank.

Mace has a no redraw option doesn't it? This sounds like a great combo - rad fixing the high end costs of mace, lots of aoe from both sets, the ability to use ff+rech to power everything, and good soft control for protection.

Alright, as promised. This is the direction I think I would go if I were to run a Radiation/War Mace Tanker for PvE. Slots and power picks were very tight. I would have liked to include more things into the buid.. And I maybe could if I play tested this extensively and came to the conclusion that some powers are not needed. But I have not tested it. You could maybe drop Jawbreaker, and slot Bash that way instead.. But your exemplared attack chain would really suffer. I'm also not entire sold on Gamma Boost... But again, I have not played Radiation Armor extensively. I have a Radiation/Dark Melee Tank at 50+1. But I do not play him, I even unslotted him... And I'm not sure why, because he would rock! Anyways, here it is!

It's also a 2 for 1 special going on this morning. So I made a "farm" build too if you really wanted to go that route. 😁 So here's the "farming" build, incorporating more AoE from the Mu epic. I haven't played a weapons character since my Titan/Bio, so maybe I am mistaken with redraw. Either way, here's the build!

Interesting. Do I have an out of date Mids?

Looks like you have a fairly recent version. There might be a chance Hyperstrike has an older version.

I've got both versions.
It generates a corruption in both.

I've noticed the newer versions are more prone to spitting gobbeldygook.

Ahh, the fabled “gobbledygook” strikes again! Any idea to remedy this? It seems to have worked for others.

Not saying it doesn't work.  Just saying that I see a much higher instance of scrambled builds out of the newer Mids.
Dunno why.
Dunno how to stop/fix it from doing so.
Fervent prayers and copious swearing haven't helped thus far.

This borders on going off-topic, so feel free to ping us in the Mids forum. But what OS and Mids version do you have? Have you made tweaks to your Mids version (like make changes to the database)? Have you tried repairing Mids or uninstall/reinstall?

I wanted to try this too. Does anyone know the optimal WM rotation for ST? Also is there a build that proccs out both Rad Theropy and Ground Zero?

I use a rotation of Clobber, Jawbreaker, Shatter, Gloom on my Rad/WM Tanker. I found that this led to the best Pylon times (~3:15 without Hybrid: Assault).

Clobber should have the Hecatomb: Chance for Negative proc, and at least one other damage proc (Gladiator's Strike, Touch of Death, Mako, Perfect Zinger).

Shatter should have Armageddon: Chance for Fire and Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for -Res. You can choose to proc out Shatter with Obliteration, Scirocco, Eradication, and/or Zinger.

Jawbreaker should have at least one damage proc (Gladiator's Strike, Mako, Touch of Death, Perfect Zinger).

Gloom should have the Apocalypse: Chance for Negative proc and at least one other damage proc (Cloud Senses, Gladiator's Javelin). Avoid Decimation: Chance of Build Up. I found that slotting this actually lowered DPS.

Radiation Therapy takes good procs: Obliteration, Scirocco's, Eradication, Fury -Res, Perfect Zinger, Touch of the Nictus. You could also 5 slot it with Panacea for the global recharge and set bonuses, and use the final slot for a damage proc.

I wasn't able to make Ground Zero worth using, but it might be useful with melee sets that don't have high damage AOE attacks. I found Shatter and Crowd Control to be better options for AOE.

Here is how i would approach it - based on my Rad Rad Tank Radianite.

Again its largely unkillable unless against unique damage types thats unresistable.

There are two ways to approach the Incarnates

Alpha - Musculature if you want more damage - will work fine as you are already res capped to everything important - or close enough

          - Agility if you want more defense - isnt really needed because endurance is fine on this build, and without DDR it isnt as effective as this is a natively resistance build anyway.

Destiny - This is the tough one

-Ageless Radial for recharge and DDR is usually the way i go to get the recharge bonus and also the DDR for the defense I do have.

-Barrier - more overkill than anything - i never really needed this so i opted for Ageless.

-Rebirth - probably second most useful for the regen and heal - even though i rarely ever needed this also.

Hybrid - I usually Dual Hybrid on most my toons anyway

            - My main Hybrid on this one is Melee Radial - because it adds defense, and also a taunt aura +regen.

-Assault Radial - when i want a double hit like a baby crit to boost the already impressive damage output.

And Im a flyer so all my builds have fly - you can substitute that out.

I also approach from a You arent going to take me out mentality first so i max defensive - then build the offensive - but as you can see - still impressive attacks.

My Rad Rad Tank is honestly hard to say which is better between my Invul/SS, my Rad/Rad or any one of my 4 Shield varieties.

They are all unkillable against any defendable content - whether its Rularu, Incarnate, Debuffers, Hardened AV targets (aside from the patch damage from unique conten - but even then you literally just avoid the patch)

Hmmm...i would try to open mids 2.7.2.10 already, then open a build from it, selecting the .mxd that you can't open. If it doesn't work, go to Control Panel, Programs, find Mids Reborn and try to do a repair. If it still doesn't work, uninstall/reinstall
