MikeSol Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 I noticed that the Outbreak tutorial offers a badge for killing 100 Contaminated. Do the other tutorials offer a badge that you can get in the tutorial? If so, which badge is the most difficult to get outside of the tutorial?
TheOtherTed Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 (edited) Breakout offers the "Jail bird" badge, and the Praetoria tutorial offers "Avid Reader". Of the three, Outbreak is the "hardest" to get (and by "hardest," I mean most tedious). For the other two, you just do a little stair-climbing, or a little talking, respectively. Edited to add - the Galaxy City tutorial also has a badge, but, to be honest, the badge ticked me off so much on Live that I never bothered with the GC tutorial again. GraspingVileTerror Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 I believe that they've (re)moved the Ruined Galaxy Tutorial Badge. So, it's (to the best of my knowledge): Isolator in Outbreak for defeating 100 Contaminated. Jail Bird in Breakout for entering Cell #15 on the third floor at the starting area. Avid Reader in Praetorian District for clicking through all of Rothstein's dialogue options. Alternatively, Primals may also get it by becoming an Incarnate and clicking through Prometheus's dialogues about the Well of the Furies.
Tachstar Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 You can reduce the time/tedium required to get Isolator if you set the Flower Knight mission to +0/x6. Take all the P2W attacks and enhancements, along with the Inner Inspiration thing (you can swap it for something else later) and a booster pet. Take out a few extra Contaminated along the way. Save the big damage and heal inspirations you get from the defeat 4 Contaminated mission for the Flower Knight mission. It doesn't matter what AT you're playing. At that level, the squishy types do just as well (if not better) than the non-squishies. Depending on which map you get, you can come out with 80+ Contaminated defeated. Be sure to wait for the ambush at the end! Anyway, I've been doing Outbreak that way for some time now. It's fun! Make a challenge of it -- if you don't end up in the hospital and Flower Knight survives, you win! Woo hoo! See also: team up and street sweep your way to Isolator glory. 4
Outrider_01 Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Outbreak Isolator - Make a second account, newbie brute. Savage melee is best. Run 2 box, invite the primary account, alt tab to the secondary with brute. Grats, fastest way you are goiung to get that badge in 5 minutes. Blood Speaker Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 D. None of the above. My first MMO ever, CoH permanently broke me of the completionist's "badge for the sake of badge" nonsense. If there's an Accolade power to be earned, fine. Otherwise, mleh. Badgers are certainly welcome to chase them all, but there is another option. 😛 1 1
ZorkNemesis Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Keep in mind, regardless of what tutorial you pick, you can get the badges at any point afterward. You can get Isolater (as a Hero/Vigilante) and Jail Bird (as a Villain/Rogue) during The Pilgrim's story arc in Ouroboros (Ouroboros Initiation) and I guess Avid Reader can be earned from Prometheus? I didn't even know about Avid Reader until just now to be honest but sure enough the wiki says you can get it from Prometheus in Ouro after clearing an incarnate trial. Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.
Placta Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 (edited) Isolator is much easier to get outside the tutorial because of The Pilgrim - you have your level 2, 4, and 6 powers in that mission, so you've got something approaching an attack chain. Alternately, if you want to do it the really masochistic way, there's a single Contaminated in the train station in RV on a 45 minute spawn timer. Edited July 11, 2021 by Placta Reworded for clarity. GraspingVileTerror Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 I mean, if you want the ABSOLUTE fastest way . . . https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/12679-rapid-isolator-badge-and-taxi-services-available-on-everlasting/ The Devs patched the hole of the enterbase command, but I still have my services available to folks who want a quickie Isolator.

A quick Google search shows that the Galaxy City tutorial badge, "Knowledgeable," apparently had to be purchased through the Paragon Markets in legacy. The badge has since then been moved to Echo: Atlas Park. So currently, there is no badge to earn in the Galaxy City tutorial. Others have covered alternative methods to get the tutorial badges for Outbreak, Breakout, and Going Rogue. 1
Oubliette_Red Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Precinct Five, definitely do Precinct Five first. 1 Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx? Check out Michiyo's modder or Solerverse's thread. Got a punny character? You should share it.
