Beam doesn't have a lot of AoE options so cutting beam is a consideration, though I think the damage is lackluster. Gun Drone on the other hand... Unless I'm missing something... Is there any point in that power at all?
Uun Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Agree that Cutting Beam is lackluster, but it's the only AoE Beam's got aside from the T9 and the 5 deg cone. It can take an Achilles' Heel proc, which is a plus. Uuniverse

Most of the pure ranger builds will skip time bomb, trip mine and taser on /dev, some even skip smoke grenade. You most likely will also skip either the T1 or T2 blast. That leaves 9-10 pool powers, plenty for the typical cookie cutter builds or even the more experimental off the beaten track builds. Maelwys Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Mine skipped *Single Shot* and *Cutting Beam* from BR; and *Taser*, *Smoke Grenade* and *Time Bomb* from Dev. Whilst it can take an Achilles' Heel Proc, the DPA is a bit pants. So whenever Overcharge is on cooldown I'd usually just rather toebomb a Trip Mine. The Gun Drone is basically extra damage output that doesn't interfere with your attack chain. It's fire-and-forget every 90 seconds; so it's difficult to justify not having (at least) one of them up.

It actually works better for steamrolling teams I've found. Fast cast, great proc's and Bonfire to boot. 2

Is there any point in that power at all? both cutting beam is or 2nd AoE option in beam so that alone is why you should take it. gun drone is essentially free dps while it also has a massive 80% resist stat. 90% if u take expedient reinforcements. it also taunts whatever it shoots so if it tags a boss it can tank it until it explodes. 1

I am seconding what TurboRaptor said here.... take both! Very little AOE options with BR and Gun Drone really gives you the DPS you need from the Devices secondary. Depending on how much recharge you have, you can typically get 2 out perma or for at least a little overlap. Trip Mine and Time Bomb are good ambush burst damage, but slows down your DPS. Gun Drone keeps it going while you Beam shoot away! 🙂 1

Huh, it seems like that echo is very faint. Most say skip. And if I had room for one I'd rather take the gun drone. Cutting beam is one wants to minimize their build not max it out 😂
