Notables:

2650 HP with Dull Pain which is permanent.

17 sec downtime on Hasten which I hate.

85% recharge debuff resistance. Only 26% regen debuff resistance.

Plan is for Gloom, Incinerate, Cremate, repeat for the ST chain but I haven't even checked the numbers to see if that's possible. Might be G-C-I-C-repeat.
IH is up a third of the time. MoG is up around a fifth.

Make it better please?

In an ITF right now on beta. Findings so far? The period of time when IH and MoG are down and Barrier is at the low values is freaking rough and that's WITH darkest night up on a boss. Gonna craft up Hybrid Melee instead of running with Assault and see if that will help during the IH/MoG downtimes. Yes, I've already faceplanted once and I haven't even saved all the Sybils yet and that's with allowing myself to run away when the fit hits the shan. I can only imagine how bad this'll be during the seafood buffet or cysts mission.

My regen is ice/regen/soul brute with speed/leap/fight/leadership, no Darkest Night. But I want to make that regen scrapper with RoP/Shadow Meld abuse. And I’m seriously considering fire because, although I have all melee sets at level 50, fire is the only melee set I don’t have on a non-/fire brute. But maybe 2 low end sets at once is not the way, for now. Will maybe work on a build this afternoon.

 

Why no LotG in MoG?

 

Interesting just skipping GFS entirely… I feel like I would want as a Scrapper for the higher proc rate on critical strikes but not sure.

 

No double performance shifters makes my heart hurt but if your end is fine..

 

Will maybe look more when home 🙂

2nd faceplant outside with Sister Solaris and the Minotaur and that was without triggering the seafood buffet. Hybrid Melee does help, but not enough. I'm sure if I slip into squishy mode and stay at the edges, bringing in manageable numbers of enemies, running often to allow for Hybrid Melee, IH and MoG to stay in play, this is all doable. but it sure ain't much fun. Especially compared to just jumping in, staying at the aggro cap and being able to killkillkill.

Making soloing ITF without inspirations or even effort your baseline was bound to be limiting some day 🙂

Well... yea. Finished 1st mission. 3rd faceplant was from seafood buffet. Even with 85% slow resists and sprint on I couldn't move fast enough to kite around waiting for things to recharge. IH was up at the time. Off to hit a pylon. Not even gonna bother finishing this ITF.

 

4:45 pylon time. Chain was Gloom, Incin, Cremate, repeat. Not fully clean and worse during hasten's downtime and with hybrid assault for the first 2 mins. Not awful, could be tightened up. Fire/Shield brute might be interesting but still won't come anywhere near Nrg/Shield.

Here is my SS/Regen Brute, not the most damaging build, it is close to the HP cap with accolades/dull pain, I had to take any to hit debuff i could find specially since i still have to worry about my rage crash, and with this, it is somewhat manageable, I decided on going for Ageless Radial, it fixes any endurance problems i may have, increases my recharge and protects me from debuffs for a while, specially regen/def/recharge debuffs, these are all killer for /Regen. I remember people used to cycle between MoG, IH, hybrid and rune of protection back them to stay alive, i don't know how effective would that be now.

Here's a skeleton, haven't slotted it out, but a quick rebuild.

Only 4 +Def powers, but you only slotted 4x LotG.
2 OShi buttons - Brutes lose Shadow Meld, so dropped Fly entirely and grabbed Force of Will > Unleash Potential.

Might work better.

First of all, if you want to go Regen, a Tank is better than a Brute - even though they both have same HP cap, the Brute has a lower base HP so it's much harder to get to the HP cap.  A Regen Tank can easily be perma at the HP cap  and have better overall slotting since they don't have to work so hard to get the extra HPs.  And... if you want all the resists, then you should have gone Will Power instead.  🙂  

 

But since this is what you chose and are going for.... then below is what I came up with for a Regen Brute with most of your choices....

  • 3112 HPs (perma) which is 100 HPs shy of cap
  • More Regen
  • More overall defense and soft-capped to melee. More defense just makes your darkest night that more potent.
  • More S/L resists (but slightly less on the others)

It feels like cheating.

I have simply cycled Rune of Protection, Instant Healing, Demonic Aura, & MoG. Every once in a while popping Dull Pain if I get to 1/2 health.

 

Building high debuff resist to Recharge and Movement is doable. I've seen 100%, but comes at a cost. Something reasonable should suffice.

 

Random Regen tips that you might already know:

  • Regen and resists have nice synergy. Def can be useless at times due to no DDR. Soft caps can be a fools errand just to watch em melt.
    • (incidental def from sets adds up anyway)
  • Use MoG more than other T9s, it has a nice +Recovery on top of everything else and no crash.
  • Dull Pain is somewhat easy to perma, some like it that way. Great for max HP. Setting to auto can be inefficient though.
  • You're gonna get hit. Accept this. Have a plan to get out of trouble and then play with near reckless abandon.
    • Have a heal available. If you don't have one available it may be prudent to back off a bit.

Try it with Will Power instead?  You can get good regen and probably higher resists for what you may want to do?  My Titan/WP Brute has no issues with ITF.  Or even better, WP Tank?

I don't know what may be next. @arcane actually hit my problem on the head. After experiencing the insanity of a shield/nrg tank, and being able to go afk with an aggro cap of +4s with my sr/claws tank and claws/sr brute, everything else starts to get that "what's the point" feel to it. Edit: Don't get my wrong, my completely over the top nrg/bio/soul scrapper faceplants from time to time as well but the damage she dishes out is freakin obscene.

I had to come back to this and ask why it matters? ALL tank armors are completely broken by design. You even have it as your sig line: "If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!" It's a true statement. Nrg and Regen should be ported to tanks as is because it just doesn't matter if they'll be OP on the already OP archetype.

It being the 4th of July, I pulled out one of my MERICA! alts, a broadsword/regen brute who I had dinged 50 with a while back.  I ran the Mender arc to get my alpha and it was a slog.  So I spent a little time actually working on the build.  And I discovered something that I am embarrassed that I haven't exploited before:  Darkest Night is monstrously overowered.  I play almost all scrappers nowadays, so I wasn't familiar with it.  But sure as Shipoopi, I'm walking through +4/x8 missions and neither my blue bars or green bars are moving one bit.

Yea, and since adding gloom to any attack chain makes it much better, soul mastery is one of those pools it's hard to say no to.
