PrivateP90x
Not sure if it will happen with other zones but it looks like the zone map is being treated like a mission map when it comes to fog. Marine X
Zone Maps are typically Fogged on a new Toon unless you explore them or use the Reveal Power from P2W Vendor. Yes, zone maps for a new toon are fogged. The OP's map is blacked out, which is not the same thing. This is what fogged map looks like, compare it to the OP's map. I haven't changed my contrast settings, all other maps looked normal on that toon, even went over to Kings Row to check. The map is working properly removing fog of war as you move around the zone. What stands out in the photo you linked is how black your blacks are set at. This must be a contrast or opaqueness setting in the game or your monitor. That doesn’t necessarily mean the settings have not been changed. I’d really start by looking at both of those. Momo_Arasaka
I just ran into this problem today. I went explorer badge hunting on a character and the map looks fine. The 'fog of war' has opacity. I made a new character and the 'fog of war' is pitch black. I logged on each of my other characters and the maps look like they should but only on this new character is the 'fog' black. Anyone have any ideas? Edited November 5 by Momo_Arasaka
brass_eagle
I'm just going to throw out a couple of ideas that I have experienced and seen in help chat as well @Momo_Arasaka (I also very much appreciate that you have done search-fu to find your issue on the forums (really love that)): 1. Talos is a Static Zone map--Atlas map tends to get reloaded for the holiday events. Halloween event (Halloween Atlas) is active. This tends to compound if you have any map add-on installed, like Vidiot Maps. Since the Halloween event ends tomorrow (today 11/5), see if this issue still remains after reset this coming morning. It may resolve itself today. 2. Hinted at above, map add-ons can sometimes cause funky things and may need a re-install, or to install the correct holiday map. If you do not have one, try re-verifying files. 3. If you are experiencing this on other non-hazard zones aside from Atlas, see if you can get a list of which zones it's affecting for you! That would be helpful. Hopefully #1 is the case. Atlas Park is special during Halloween and Winter. Maps in particular go old-school. EDIT: If #1 is the case, you may see the same thing again when the winter event starts in a month. Edited November 5 by brass_eagle
Marine X
Just a side note, noticed when I played on a different PC from normal that the Fog was back on all my Characters for all zones. The Fog data must be stored Client Side, so on a different PC install it will need to be cleared or revealed again. " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..." My level 50 characters, that have all the explores, and don't get played for a week or so? Finds every map hidden by fog of war despite having explored the zones. And once a character has the fog of war restored for some reason? It seems to restore the fog of war more frequently.
City Council Michiyo Posted November 5 City Council Share Posted November 5 Fog data is all client side, and if that fog data gets corrupted it results in exactly what you're seeing, either just reset, or it gets reset to an opaque FOW like you would see in hazard zones. Sadly the only fix so far is to delete your FOW files. For HC Launcher those are in "{HomecomingInstallLocation}\accounts\{AccountName}\maps". If you're still using Tequila 1.) Stop. 2.) those are somewhere in your appdata... I've not looked for them in several years. 1
AboveTheChemist
Just to piggyback on what Michiyo said, if you need to delete a fog of war file but only want to delete the file for one character and not all of them, simply log that character on and clear some of the fog of war for the map you are on (or on another map, if your current map is already clear). Then, log completely off and look in your fog of war files. The most recently modified file will be the one for that character and you can delete it without impacting the fog of war for your other characters. 2 Popmenus > Badge List | Optimal Paths | Conversion Possibilities | Emotes Wiki Pages > Costume Color Schemes | Set Bonus Comparison Tables Maps > Vidiotmaps | Optimal Paths | Halloween GM Maps | Winter Gift Maps | Offline Map Viewer Sounds > Banshee Sonic Attack Datasets > Recipe Salvage Components | Badge Name & Settitle ID | Exploration Badge & History Plaque Coordinates
