Influence/Infamy on Loggin Screen?

Recommended Posts

Just as the title says. I just came back after a year+ off from the game and could not remember for the life of me which character I had it on. Go figure, as the story of luck goes, it was the very last character I checked out of about 14 pages of characters. As you can imagine, that took quite some time. It would be nice if it were simple enough, to add an influence/infamy count on each character to help save time during these times.

There have been a lot of requests for tweaks/changes/more info on the character select screen. I don't know how hard they'd be - given this is just looking up a number that doesn't care about what zone you're in, etc. it might be on the easier side, but... well, spaghetti code.

Fingers crossed on a character select screen revision in general though.  One of those things that was long overdue even on live.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

If implemented well this could be a great idea.

Imagine each character having like an old fashioned hero card that shows stats/inf/alignment/story progression/current nemesis/bio etc....

all on the character select screen.

Its easy to criticize a suggestion but can you suggest an alternative?

Since we're askin for additions to loggin, I would love to have a list of global friends that are currently online and the toons they're playin.

...and the day job badge location they're logged out in, and their day job badge progress, and the rest of their badge progress, too, as long as you're pulling some of them, and their current enhancement tray contents, and their inspiration tray, and the power slotting screen, and their incarnate slotting and inventory, and their salvage inventory, and the recipes they have, and the common IO recipes that they've memorized, and a listing of the items they have in the AH... the list goes on and on, and everyone's got a perfectly valid reason why that particular piece of information needs to be accessible on or from the character-selection screen, because it would make things easier if they didn't have to log completely in on a character to get that information.

This was something discussed a lot durin live and is no less unreasonable then askin for "How much inf a toon has."

But to know what toons my friends are playin before i log on would be handy, even if you don't think so.

I want to be able to play from the character select screen so I don't have to zone in and deal with annoying people in-game.

I was pointing out that 'just one more little thing' has no end. There are valid reasons for wanting any particular detail about a character to be available at the selection screen, and people will keep asking for them, and the screen will get busier and busier, until someone starts the 'the character selection screen is too busy; can we have just the basic information back?' thread.

You have a valid point. People are greedy and always want more until it gets to be to much.

But you have to admit it is a good suggestion.

The flip side of "there'll be more and more" (given how this hasn't really changed...) is that ... it hasn't really changed and is *lacking* useful information.

Maybe come up with the options and let people select what they want to search / sort by. If they want "ALL THE THINGS!" they can add all the things, if they want a few sort features and INF, they can have just that, etc. More work, granted. But the customizability may just make it even more useful and appreciated.

GASP, surely you don't mean giving people more options to choose for themselves?

that would be a ludicrous idea 😏

also I apologize for calling you surely

What would be cool would be a character spreadsheet that could be queued up and sent to you (maybe during server maint function), but I'm guessing there's some DB oddness that can get in the way.

Probably some info garnered from one of the other character selection screen debates we've had.

Sure. Which office-productivity package file format will the spreadsheet be in? Saving it as a CSV file is doable; that's just a text file. But expecting people to have a particular spreadsheet program is excessive.

I'd just go with csv since text is lower overhead and people can import into whatever.   Not like most don't import pretty much any of the popular current formats.

Pretty sure it's a non-starter anyway from what I remember being talked about in the name release thread.
