First, you locate a horse…..   preferably in a secluded area.

I believe you are right. I know he carried keys, where the Jing-a-linging came from. I remember him as a character that would frequent department stores or malls to promote Christmas consumerism. The song would be played on radio stations to promote his appearances.

Is this a real thing?   Because if not we can make it up and use the old tune “leader of the pack”. Those lyrics were so corny turning it into a Christmas parody would be doing it a favor…
