(I'm definitely not as much of a fan as QT was.) Screenplay clunked a bit, the paternity subplot felt unnecessary and undercooked, and... ....well, Kevin "Kerrrrrrrriiippptonite!" Spacey was the thing that kinda broke it for me. But there's good bits. Brandon wore the cape well, and the other character interplay was decent. Lose the kid, lose half of the first reel, drop more quickly into the action and tighten the rest, and you'd have had a decent little flick. (Oh, and maybe reshoot Spacey with Phil Hoffman if they could have got him). One other thing: that was the 6th biggest flick by box office in 2006, 9th worldwide, with $400m. But if you blow your budget to $222m - plus maybe another $100m marketing - that's not great. WAKE UP YA MISCREANTS AND... HEY, GET YOUR OWN DAMN SIGNATURE. Quote The theatrical cut of Justice League removed numerous characters and subplots from backstories to larger sequel seeds and universe building, like the inclusion of DC big bad Darkseid, but the one element Snyder said was removed entirely from an early rewrite after the harsh reactions to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the romantic subplot between Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane resulting in her carrying his child. ZacKing Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 (edited) The Real Reason Superman Bleeds According To James Gunn Hmmm.... sounds better, but given all of the agenda and message pushing that's completely polluted Hollywood productions of the last couple of years, I don't know whether to be excited or extremely wary. Having Superman be a symbol of good, kindness and hope is a good thing. I might be on the "cautiously optimistic" side now, but we'll see. Any time I hear some actor or director talking about politics and how it's relevant to their movie, I cringe. lol Edited December 23, 2024 by ZacKing 2 1

I'm fully aware of Star Trek TOS and TNG, I haven't forgotten anything. You'll notice I specifically said film productions "of the last couple of years", meaning more recent films, not TV shows from 30 and 60 years ago. They had actual writers who knew how to write back then, not the hacks most of these studios hire today. 1 1

Expand I like Nicholas Hoult, or at least what works of his I've seen, so I'll give him a good chance. That said, casting for Luthor has not always been the greatest. Just putting a good actor into that role doesn't guarantee a good fit. It's too bad Jeff Bridges is too old for the role. After seeing his Obadiah Stane in Iron-Man, I think he'd have made a great Lex Luthor. 2

Depending on how he's handled, Krypto would be equal to Ma & Pa Kent or Lois Lane: important, possibly vital to the story, but not the focus. There's a number of Krytonian elements that might be included, Krypto, Supergirl, bottled Kandor, survivors in the Phantom Zone, etc. (I believe there was even a Kryptonian monkey at one point), but I suspect @Ghost is basically saying "keep the main thing, the main thing". Be laser-focused on the one character, since his name carries the title. If enough of the Justice League and Kryptonian stuff is brought in, the movie then becomes an ensemble work, more or less, which makes having a single-character title a bit absurd. That said, I'm personally intrigued to see Krypto in live action, and wonder how they'd carve out a character that's more than just a character clone of Lassie or Rin-Tin-Tin with powers. 1
