Epistasis Posted May 15 Posted May 15 So, despite Kinetic Melee having the rep of being underpowered, I've got to say, I love all the stuns in the set. I love them so much that when I started acquiring Rope a Dope recipes as drops, I started making and slotting. My Body Blow is fully slotted in Rope a Dope now. My question is: I've currently got 2 + level 50 Disorient in each of my other two main stun-producing attacks (as well as accuracy and damage) and I'm wondering if I should go for at least 3 of the set with the dunce cap (name escapes me atm) for the + to all stunning attacks. Between all the stunning and 'Agile' now fully slotted in Luck of the Gambler, survivability has increased markedly. My question is, what is the 'sweet spot' for stuns vs damage output, not to mention elite bosses/AVs? Thanks much, Poetry InMotion Torchbearer
Uun Posted May 15 Posted May 15 If you like stuns, you should really try Energy Melee. Far superior to Kinetic. Slotting Stun sets in attacks is foolish for a scrapper. Maximizing damage should be your goal. If you really want to go that route, you'd be better off with a brute (which relies more on Fury than enhancements for damage). EBs and AVs won't be affected by the stuns unless you can stack them (and the purple triangles are down). 1 Uuniverse
Yomo Kimyata Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) Remember, stuns (like all mez) works on two different factors: magnitude and duration. Mag 1 will only affect underlings; mag 2 also affects minions; mag 3 also affects lts; mag 4 also affects bosses (and AVs when their purple triangles of doom are down); mag 7 also affects EBs. Magnitudes stack, so getting stun from multiple sources is great, especially when one or more of them are AoE. There are a few procs that add % to stun, and if you are clever you can use them to great effect. And remember, you can't stun them if you can't hit them. This is what I was looking for. I may try another scrapper primary at some point, but I'm trying to figure out how to use the one I've got to best effect at the moment as my playtime is limited. I fully slotted the one attack power because it is reasonably fast and figured it'd be easier to build mag with it; I've also been hearing about how important it is to get + defense to the different types of attacks and figured I'd do out one attack power out to full resistance effect that way. My AoE is done in scrapper archetype set (it lacks stun anyway) for the damage bonus, and I've got a D-sync with + mez duration in the Crushing blow along with accuracy/damage. After extended time playing Controllers, I've got to say that the Kinetic melee may be 'weak', but there's something about coming home from a long day at work and just trotting off to punch things for a few missions :). Nemu Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Single target stuns is rookie league. No one wants to be a rookie scrub. I know you don’t. you can port that combo to scrappers and be the most epic stunner to ever stun. Epistasis Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Oh how fun! I have a broadsword/Electric Brute, but it'd be a lot more fun being a stunmaster with scrapper speed 🙂. It's going to take me a week just to decipher all those enhancement acronyms! Thanks for the support, and the suggestion - the play's the thing! Technically greater than mag 2 effects Lts and greater than 3 effects bosses (and >1 for minions etc.) Most powers have magnitudes expressed as whole numbers but a few don't. Mesmerize for example is a mag 3.5 sleep and will put a boss to sleep (afaik). @Yomo Kimyata Edited May 18 by Doomguide2005
Sovera Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) Remember also that as Yomo said that the CC has a duration. You might not notice it on a +0 or +1 enemy but since you're not a controller you won't be slotting for duration and instead for damage. Because of that the stuns will happen but be blips. The only one who will make longer duration stuns is indeed Energy Melee since every attack has a chance to stun and those will stack up fast enough you can even stun AVs (while their triangles are down). The talk of slotting stun procs usually misses this angle. The stun may or may not go off, but then it lasts for a very short duration.
