Tankshock Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Don't know why I always have problems with this. Got all 8 Exploration badges in Atlas, but it hasn't unlocked. Is there a new requirement? Thanks. 1
lemming Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Access to Travel Passport (and Long Range Teleporter) is now unlocked by acquiring any 10 exploration badges, instead of one exploration accolade. This doesn't affect characters who already own Long Range Teleporter, and the Pocket D unlock method is still present. Note: For technical reasons, this only counts exploration badges collected after the patch 1 1 1

Scarlet Shocker Posted May 17 Posted May 17 20 minutes ago, Tankshock said: So I need 2 more? Thanks! (Also, bit of an unnecessary change?) Makes it easier for newer players, and there's a new exploration badge at starting points, so reducing the burden. That's the theory at any rate and it seems to have been received well. I think it's important to remember that the game made us travel a lot in the early days as a way of taking time out of playing the content - you were still playing the game running from Atlas to Steel Canyon tailor, for example but you weren't rushing through content that took time and development resources. That is no longer the case and so it makes a lot more sense to give players the ability to get to the content they want to play, as quickly as possible, is an inherently sensible option and picking up 10 explore badges is a quick, sensible solution that allows even players who aren't invested in looking "under the hood" (ie spending time on forums etc) to get the accolade quickly and easily. 1 There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
Doc_Scorpion Posted May 17 Posted May 17 9 hours ago, Tankshock said: So I need 2 more? Thanks! (Also, bit of an unnecessary change?) Introduced (as per a dev comment in the Beta) with the specific intent by the devs to introduce new players to the idea that there was a world beyond Atlas Park. The exploration badge tip missions are part of that same philosophical package. 1 Unofficial Homecoming Wiki - Paragon Wiki updated for Homecoming! Your contributions are welcome! Techwright Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Personally, I always tag the indoor Observant badge next to the Rikti War Zone portal, then pop thru the portal and grab the badge hidden under the hall in front of the blond sister (I forget her name at the moment). It's easy and a no-threat location. I'd make the 8th a run to the T.U.N.N.E.L. portal next to the Atlas Park tram and go to Night Ward to get the badge entering the mansion door. It also unlocks access to the Midnighters' Club so two birds, one stone. 1

cranebump Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I usually get Echo: Galaxy after AP. Or zip into RWZ to grab the easy one, then use the free jetpack to get two quick ones from KR (the one on the ground between the buildings where the clocks hang out, then the one on the Helipad with the CoT). 1 I have done a TON of AE work, both long form and single arc. Just search the AE mish list for my sig @cranebump. For more information on my stories, head to the AE forum sub-heading and look for “Crane’s World.” Support your AE authors! We ARE the new content.

Wavicle Posted May 18 Posted May 18 8 in AP, plus one in Pocket D and one in Oro is how I sometimes do it. In the Villainside old school tutorial, Breakout, there is an exploration badge in a jail cell, so redsiders could start with that one. For the record you can talk to her at any point after level 35, she doesn't actually get introduced. She's just endless missions if you don't want to follow storylines. You don't even have to talk to Levantera first, but you really should since her missions give Vanguard Merits. As for the topic itself: I usually scoop up the 8 in whatever zone I start in; Atlas and Mercy I wait until I've done the first three arcs, Nova I get them after Marauder's done. The other two I generally grab are Big Time and Thrill Seeker both of which can be scooped up in Pocket D with no trouble, though my Goldsiders typically get two other badges, often Park Ranger and Seen since they're the easiest to get to in Imperial. I believe I recall one of the reasons for the 10 badge requirement was that in 99% of cases this results in having at least two zones accessible when you get it. Very few zones don't have LRT access; PvP zones, Echo zones, Hive/Abyss, Monster Island, both Sewers, Trident/Crucible, and Praetoria's Underground. Very few cases to go to those zones for LRT progress, except maybe Resistance Crusaders. Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.

Also, just a side note, ALL Exploration badges count for the LRT now, even those in zones that can't be LRT'd to.
