Neiska Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Hi forums, So, I finally have my own @Snarky pug story to share. I finally decided to do my very first mothership raid. The leader did a good job at organizing and explaining things. Mentioned in League chat there were a few first timers, explained the pylons and bombs, the bowl, to stay with the murderball, etc. And everything went great. I only died once due to the bombs, but that's because I wasn't sure where I was going and was lagging behind the group to follow them. So, I think that's not bad for my first time. Once we got to the bowl, things went smoothly. The War Priests went down fast, and we chipped away at the GM. Things went well until the GM went down. Then suddenly the League chat went from normal Raid chatter and took a wild left and suddenly out of nowhere three people began to rant about Incels, and essentially how they are to blame for all of society's woes. I won't repeat what was said here, but it's no exaggeration to say it read like the worst of Reddit. And their diatribe rant continued during the rest of the mothership raid, for the full 20-25ish minutes of "farming" the spawns, almost constantly. Post after post after post, sounding very much like the worst of a certain stereotype, essentially treating the league chat like their very own personal soapbox to rant to the masses from. For the record, I don't personally care about the opinions of random strangers on the internet. I just don't care to see it in a hobby or entertainment. I always question if they are trolling or seeking a platform simply for attention. If people wish to discuss things, then fine. Discuss it with people who share your views or opinions. But throwing out into a public forum, and then ranting when some disagree, just reeks of baiting or a complex. Anyway, that's my pug story. My first Mothership Raid included some loudly toxic self-proclaimed dictators of morality. I just hope this isn't normal for Raids. If it is my Ignore list will grow larger. Speaking of which - is the ignore tool character or account specific? Not sure on that one. I think to date I have only ignored 2 people a few years ago? Now, by the accumulated power of Greyskull, Friendship, and 1000 crazy cat ladies combined, I summon Snarky! Nosferatu! I choose You! Lets hear what you think! Included is a live pic of Snarky's last PUG. 1 7

Triumphant Posted May 25 Posted May 25 This is just one more thing to add to the list of things that I hate about raids, tbh (not that I needed any more). 1
Ukase Posted May 28 Posted May 28 This is part of the reason why most folks afk after putting a ranged attack on auto-fire through their HVAS. To avoid this kind of thing. I will confess - I do tend to bore people with the absolute worst dad jokes I can find on the internet during an MSR, but only if it seems like folks could use a break from the silence. To the OP - you mention it was your first MSR. Congrats! For your next one, I encourage you to listen to some AC/DC Thunderstruck as you whack into a rikti or three. Then, once the GM is down, press the C key on your keyboard. The need for instructions is over. All you have left to do is endure the 30 minutes until the shields go back up. You can just fight or buff with reckless abandon (to a degree - you should still stay near or in the bowl unless you're a tank or brute, or an epic utilizing some buffs to keep you moving). But there's no need to let the chatter of others ruin your fun. When the shields go up, you can press C and the chat box comes back up. Your odds of missing anything important are very low. Alternatively - you can create a tab that displays private messages and keep THAT chat box open in case someone has something to tell you, specifically. and then press C to close the league chat, leaving your Direct Message tab open. I'd say ignore the folks who are doing the foul speaking, but that might take too long, and the ol' ignore button is kind of a last resort (at least it is for me) 1 1
Doomguide2005 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Maybe I've been lucky but while there's been plenty of silly chatter I've never noted the ugliness you've mentioned. 1

I always figured people just do that to leech. 1 1 Those times you saw no footprints, I had Fly toggled on.

A lot of it is shard dependent, from my experience. I have heard... things... about mothership raids on Everlasting. 1

I don't do them often, but the chatter has mostly been similar to Excelsior chatter on the raid. Occasionally goes off the rails, but that may explain the push for instanced versions being run to boot the ones being annoying. Though the ignore function is a handy tool, I usually add a Note with commentary of why they have a one star.
Lead Game Master GM Impervium Posted July 10 Lead Game Master Posted July 10 (edited) Per our CoC, we generally prefer for players to avoid engaging in any kind of controversial/politically charged speech. Our platforms are not the place for such things. Even if it's something many people can/should agree with, that doesn't mean everyone wants to be reminded of it or have a discussion about it while playing a video game. Per your question , @Neiska , /ignore ignores the entire global account, not just the character, and is the recommended remedy for these things. However, per the above, you can also feel free to report any players who engage in this behavior, so we can become aware of the situation and look into it. Ukase Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Ugh...such an unsavory thing to suggest, but I'll suggest it anyway. Menu-options-windows: Look for the chat section: The reason I suggest it is so you can have a record of everything said. It might be easier to share with a GM than trying to type it all out by memory. 1

I mostly log everything because sometimes it's "What the heck just killed me?" and I don't want to scroll chat, but I can look it up easy enough with a quick grep 1

Everyone raved about my perfect skills. I am as sharp as i was 400 years ago.
