Snarky Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I started a brain in a jar toon (Snarky’s Brain) throwing out psi damage. I never really pay attention to damage types but i think psi may have some sweet spots and some brick walls i need to know about. The playstyle is jump in for massive AoE then hop out to far range for ST and safety. (Blaster Psi/Ment) but i do not want to jump in to drain / nuke and be like. “Heh, just kidding” 2

Might be about five years old, but general point of reference. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1arWBGWuwGCWqSrkLgnWK26xNTrILUO_QNKn8034A3L0/htmlview#gid=0 2 I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! ZorkNemesis Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) Psi tends to get heavily resisted by non-living things (robots and zombies) and other psychics but I don't recall anything being outright immune outside of player pets like Tri-Cannon or Singularity. The hardest Psi resists of the top of my head are 50% and those include mobs like Banished Pantheon zombies, Vahzilok zombies, Zombie Apocalypse zombies, Trick-or-treat zombies, Council/Column Mek Men/Hoverbots, Malta Titans, Turrets, Fortunas, and Carnies. Incidentally Rikti Drones have a -30% resist to all, but as they are classified as robots they have the 50% Psi resist too, giving them a 20% Psi resist while they take more damage from everything else (except Toxic which I think is a 0%). For some reason, the 5th Column robots have 60% resists while the Council robots have 30% resists. Malta Titans have 60% resists. Carnies have 20% psi resistance plus 16% or 20% psi defense (depending on rank). Vanguard Sword have 20% psi defense. There are a handful of AVs (i.e., Siege, Nightstar) that have 75% psi resists. Factions that are weak to psi damage include Clockwork (but not Psychic Clockwork) and CoT. There are also quite a few that have heavy resists to everything except psi (i.e., Minotaurs and Cyclops). 1 Uuniverse
Riverdusk Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I do know I always cringe when I'm doing the Stephanie Peebles Striga arc with a psi user and the mission pops up where the entire map is nothing but robots and it is a kill all. I must have my wedding band temp power though, so I always slog through it. Most of the time I don't think it is too bad, especially as a blaster who a lot of times is overkilling things anyway. 2
SeraphimKensai Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I personally like to have multiple types of damage types on a toon, so if I hit a brick wall, I can still knock the damn thing over. 1

I do too, but I recently leveled a Psi/Ninja sentinel and it was a challenge to do that. There are two powers in the primary that have non-psi damage, and I added Smite and Engulfing Darkness from Dark Mastery, but it still doesn't feel like enough against psi resistant foes. 1 Uuniverse

Not being a lore hound, I wasn't aware there was anything unique about them other than being robots. Nemesis Warhulk obviously has a person inside the tank. But what's the deal with Titans?

Primal Clockwork aren't traditional robots and are actually psychic constructs. They're weak to Psi presumably because it interferes with their link to the Clockwork King. 2 Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.
Skyhawke Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I think everyone's missing the bigger question: How does a brain in a jar drink blood? 3 2 Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior
Owl Girl Posted September 3 Posted September 3 total b.s. that Malta robots resist psi, all things considered... g_d's lil' monster ❤️
High_Beam Posted September 4 Posted September 4 You know, the whole robots and stuff with electrical being resistant to psionics is kind of dumb really. Thoughts are like just electrical signals, though at very very low power so why wouldn't high powered psionic owies be just as wrecktastic as electric. I can kill you with my mind. Girls of Nukem High - Excelsior - Tempus Fabulous, Flattery, Jennifer Chilly, Betty Beatdown, Totally Cali, Two Gun Trixie Babes of War - Excelsior - High Beam (Yay), Di Di Guns, Runeslinger, Munitions Mistress, Tideway, Hard Melody, Blue Aria Many alts and lots of fun. Thank you Name Release For letting me get my OG main back!

I can kill you with my mind. i think the Mind/Psi power is a side reality of magic. it grew from ancient mysticism and was further morphed during Victorian times and then modern game mechanics. It has almost always been treated as special/different.

Spoiler Malta robots are more like cybernetic units. They're created by stripping unwilling humans of their brains and nervous systems, using these as sort of CPUs for the robots. It is for this reason that I question why Malta robots, in this case Titans, are under-affected by Psi powers. They should be as vulnerable as a human, since Psi attacks the mind. 1 2
