Challenger of Gods

Recommended Posts

I was working on getting this badge title on my Peacebringer. I didn't understand that in order to get this title I had to be Praetorian Origin. After trying to make another one, I found out that sadly I can't make a Praetorian Peacebringer.

I would like to suggest opening up Praetorian Origins to the advanced classes somehow so I can get this badge title on my main/badge toon. Thank you for your time.

Kheldians don't exist in Praetoria. Neither do VEATs. The Epic ATs are specifically designed with certain restrictions in mind because of being tied to a bit of lore (the "epic" being a reference to this - such as "epic of Gilgamesh" being their story,) including where you can start (you can't start a VEAT heroside, you can't start a Kheld redside. Yes, you can create one and switch sides at Null at level 1, but Null's kind of a hack job around it.)

Can you not still get this badge if you swap your alignment at Pocket D with Null? It should auto update from Immortal to Challenger of Gods 💛

No, because you can't swap your alignment and become a Praetorian.

Primal characters get awarded the Immortal Badge. Challenger of Gods is the badge for the same thing, just a different name for praetorian characters.

@Xavek1 if you want Challenger of Gods, make a Praetorian badger. It's not uncommon for people to have multiple characters to be able to acquire all the badges in the game.

I thought it would be a similar case from when you swap from Hero to Villain? If that is not the case I would highly be for to become it to allow others who are not Praetorian origin (Most people) to have more customization when it comes to how your character looks 💛

Has nothing to do with looks. It's just the badge name.  (It's not even the badge *count,* just the name is different.)

And as mentioned, you can't swap to a Praetorian alignment. Null only does the Hero - > Vig -> Villain -> Rogue loop.  (I don't know right offhand if you keep it after you go hero/villain and exit Praetoria, come to think of it, or if it swaps to Immortal.)

I am guessing they are after the badge to have it on their character (I may be 100% wrong on this) which if they are would affect how the character looks since everyone will see their name and it might play into their bio 💛 Having a way at Null to decide which table of badge titles you can use is a good way to encourage role play and character depth 🙂

Just thinking how good a "Challenger of gods" title would be on a Peacebringer whos bio has a lot to do with ITF, since the Nictus are referred to as Dark Gods!

As others have noted, it is not. Challenger of Gods and Immortal are handled internally as two completely independent, separate badges with separate settitle ids and badge_grant codes. The former is awarded to Praetorian origin characters, and the latter to Primal origin characters, and there is no way for a character from one origin to obtain the badge from the other origin. There are 53 Praetorian/Primal badge pairs in total that behave this way.

You can't make a Peacebringer Praetorian. So it's impossible.

And this exactly. Which is why I made my suggestion. If Null can just willy nilly swap Heroes to villains and vice versa with everything in between, why not have A Badge pool to swap too?

Perhaps the good folks at Ouro can play with a timeline somewhere to make it so that we can start Primal and end up Praetorian? I dunno.  Like you said, null is a hack job around swapping sides afa heroes/villains. Why not add Origins to that?

If you want Primal badges, you make a Primal character.  If you want Praetorian badges, you make a Praetorian character.  IMO, the Praetorian badge titles are "cooler" than Primal badge titles, but that's the reward for starting on the side with the highest difficulty and one of the few things that differentiates your character from Primal characters and gives you a reminder of your character's start.

My Peacebringer is my Badge toon. It is decided, if I can't get Praetorian Badges, then I just won't have them sadly.

These are simply different badge names for the same badge, the one in question being the final damage taken badge. All these kinda "milestone" badges have diffren't names on Preatiorians, it's one of the few benefits to starting in a Pretoria, like a unique little bonus.

To put it in simpler terms, it's impossible for a Preatorian character to get Immortal just like its impossible for a Primal character to get Challenger of Gods, same badge, different name

I think that is what this suggestion is for, to make it possible to chose what list of badges you can pick from and null should be able to do that 💛 Having a bigger pool of badge titles will allow for better customization as some people really like certain badges for the title they can have on their toon 🙂

If you want all of the blue side story arc souvenirs, you play a HEAT.  If you want all of the red side story arc souvenirs, you play a VEAT.  If you want all of the Praetorian badge titles, you play a Praetorian.  Non-Praetorian characters with Praetorian badges would go against the lore of the game.

Surely the same could be said about a HEAT joining red side as that was never intended? Or a VEAT joining blue. I understand keeping to the lore as much as possible but I do not see how a Kheldian with the badge title of "Challenger of Gods" will break the lore in anyway? The badge is already earned but it's just picking what title you get from it

This is in fact why I made the suggestion.

This is my reasoning behind the suggestion. I'm glad somebody gets it. Thank you.

I just want to include this, in case anyone gets the wrong idea. I'm not suggesting this to break lore, or to have Kheldians start as Praetorians. I only want the badge titles on my Peacebringer. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. I already have Immortal, just dismayed when I found out I would never be able to have Challenger of Gods for my PB, hence this suggestion. And it was because of this I found out that you couldn't make Kheldians in Praetoria, because I was fully prepared to restart my toon from scratch as a Praetorian if that option was available. Even after getting Immortal. That's how much I want this badge title.

tl;dr I just want the badge title, not broken lore or misunderstandings.

... as picky as I am on lore, especially when it comes to Epics... for the *most* part I'd have a hard time making this argument, as I think about it. There are some, sure.  I mean, we can get "Emperor for a day" by doing a run of explore badges. *Some* certainly wouldn't make sense at first glance - "Son/Daughter of Praetoria," for instance, because the Khelds never had anything to do with Earth (per the live devs) in Praetoria.  Plus, non-lore-wise, that one (as an example) would take away some from "Uniqueness for a Praetorian."

Though really looking through the list for a lot of these? I'd have to really stretch to make lore-based arguments against them. Yes, they mention things like "The resistance would call you a real slammer" - which... would be true regardless.

And some of them, as written, don't make sense for a lot of *Praetorians,* if we're sticking with the descriptions. The first damage badge (Repaired) says "If you were any ordinary clockwork, you'd probably have been scrapped by now." And how many people play clockwork? Heck, read through the Held badges.. ..they even get to the game mechanics ("One of these days you'll remember you can buy a break free.")

So... honestly, I've kind of shifted over to being somewhat torn. On the one hand, there should be things unique to Praetorians, IMO. On the other... it's really hard to nail them down for the most part to "This only makes sense for a Praetorian, and even then it's in the description, not the actual title itself" for a reason - and it's kind of a weak reason as you read the descriptions.

Honestly, those are perfectly in line with in-game examples. Heroside, you go rescue "one good spider," and it sounds like something that's been done before. For Khelds? Fullalbedo. Brightshift. Lightburner. (And it could be argued "and Warshades overall.")

You lose access to your *arcs,* but being on the "wrong" side's definitely *there.* Very in your face just through playing the game (granted the Kheld examples are in Kheld arcs, not general ones.)

... so, yeah. Like I said. Opinion's shifted a little, and my main feeling of opposition involves Praetorians losing some of what makes them unique because of their starting choices.
