OverkillEngine Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) I usually only use the attacks if super low level and I don't have a good chain yet. Then off the tray they go. Defensive powers and summons also get removed from the trays until I run into content that I am having issues with, like a nasty EB on a build that isn't natively strong against EB's. At most I keep a single flight type temp power on my trays on non-flight characters for missions where you basically NEED flight or face massive inconvenience. I generally don't bother actively seeking them out - a post IO game means they are largely not needed nor super valuable. Edited June 14 by OverkillEngine

I recently picked up a nova style power somewhere with 10 uses AND a timer and I agonized over every use. On my current project to solo every contact red/blue/gold i have collected untold numbers of temps. I kind of wish i could organize them. Because yes, i do “hoard them”. This is not unusual for me. It does get extreme on this type of project though. I do use rechargeable P2W temps. The only time i have used temps like this are in very rare fights when we small teaming a Khan (or was it a cuda?) and the army of pets i could summon made a real difference. I have tried this on a LRSF and usually the heroes just obliterated the pets. I used to hoard inspirations and my biggest powers when i started the game years ago. I am better about understanding where/when to use them now. Most of the temps are kind of useless. The pets can (sometimes) help.
Player2 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 On Live, I had a pixie with every temp I could find. She was a controller, but I used her to scrap, tank, blast, and defend.
Doomguide2005 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 My latest Empathy has a whole mess of summonable pets. Amy, War Wolf, Vanguard Heavy, p2w PPD Hard Suit, p2w Sig Summons (States). Ironically I have yet to grab a Shivan. The PPD is a little underwhelming, but that War Wolf buffed by AB, Fort, and Auras is a wrecking ball!

Most of the time, I don't ever use mission-drop powers unless it is a summons and, yeah, then I use them when there is some big bad that is kicking at team's butt. Honestly, I don't even use the day accolade power from https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Gladiator_Badge unless I'm in that same sort of situation, and I could go recharge that by just parking in an arena or PvP zone ... but I would rather be parked to get time on https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/D.U.S.T._Ranger_Badge If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

It's the classic "you can't have your cake and eat it too" dilemma So unless they are easily replaced or on a timer or i really need it i'll just hold on to them for a rainy day. That said Temps should never be on real time! Changing the winter event temps to real time to appease the nerf herders was one of the more infuriating changes on live.
Zhym Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Let me just say this about hoarding my temp powers: it's been five years now and Stephanie Peebles still hasn't getten her wedding ring back. Kind of inconsiderate of me, really.
Glacier Peak Posted June 26 Posted June 26 They've piled up in the six years I've played my main. The only temp I consciously choose to delete every time it grants is the group fly temp from the Seed of Hamidon event. I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Best Post Ever....

DoctorDitko Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Do you see that guy with every temp power mint-in-box, and a tray full of untouched Large inspirations? Yeah, the guy on the floor there. That's me! Hardship Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I wish temp powers could be activated from the Powers window, so I didn't have to find a tray for them. However, I'd probably still not use them... I tend to forget about them, until I've been beaten down a couple of times and then I start to wonder if maybe I have a temp power that would help out.
Worm_Kalpa Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Yeah, I hoard temp powers on some of my characters. There are the usual mechanical reasons like filling gaps in an attack chain at low-levels (revolver, slugger, etc.), useful for specific situations (envenomed dagger), and general use (jump pack). Ouroboros and repeatable mayhem/safeguard missions enables restocking and that gets me to actually use them more. But most of my reason is due to character concept. My magic origin characters aim to get whatever magic-themed temp power they can, gun using characters try to get gun or other personal arms temp powers, etc. For characters with a utility belt or who use gadgets and different weapons, temp powers are a way to mechanically reflect that without having to take powersets like traps or assault rifle. So temp powers are liberating for me in that regard. I like that new temp powers are obtainable in some HC missions. It's always nice to get more temp powers.
