Sure, I saw you whipping your nem staff around. At least you weren't afk. But some folks want as many vg merits as they can get, and players like this are not good for that effort. Same with Rikti and Nemesis invasion league. But it's still a negative when you have over half the league bringing a character that is low in level, and in many cases, not even slotted. Like, not at all. And they die routinely, essentially contributing nothing but vengeance bait. It is fair to say that some folks do this even with standard XP. (which is still quite good compared to retail) I have been trying to be accepting of the noobs, but last night I ran the slowest KM ITF in living memory because my Dom and my friend’s Controller were the only 50+1’s on the whole team. My friend has informed me that I am to say “50’s only” in LFG next time. I guess you could call that a consequence. 1 1

What can I do to get on Arcanes KM ITF with my brand new power set that I have no idea how to play….. oh yeah….Sitter looking for farm, please and thank you!

This has been a 'risk' since about the second day after AE was introduced to the game, with fresh level 50s stepping back into Paragon City after having entered the AE building at level 1, and having no idea how to slot, much less play, their powersets, and the calls of "How do you get to [zone]?" The people who came to CoH from other MMOs, and 'knew' that they should rush their way to level cap as fast as possible so they could join the end game where all the content was, without understanding that in CoH the leveling experience was the content, and they'd just skipped past it all. 1 1

If someone puts out a "all levels welcome" MSR in the LFG chat, then someone like @Ukase knows to steer clear. On the flip side, if you join an "all levels welcome" or "35+ welcome" team it's on you if you get miffed at how things are going. Upfront communication is key as well as understanding what said communication entails. 4 Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Typically Goddess Laucianna, but lately Queen Maya. The amount of merits I get on their msrs is consistently more than I have gotten on anyone else's MSR. And those other folks are also doing instanced. And GL and Queen open it to any level. And I seriously did have a level 1 on my team, and made a note: "This player feels no shame in bringing a lowbie to an event that is best for characters 35 and over." But ultimately, it's not my MSR, and I keep my trap shut about it. (except here, obviously) It's just that during that weekend, led by someone else, there were about half the team under level 20 instead of 1-2. I still had my own fun, I just didn't get the 1200 vg merits I typically get on their MSRs. Closer to 850. Now, that may have nothing to do with lowbies, and all that. It could have more to do with the number of tanks and such pulling the rikti into the bowl. They're just easier to blame. A bit of perception bias, I guess.

I don't know how other people do it, but I won't join an MSR until I'm at least 22; earlier than that I don't feel as if I have enough in the character to carry themselves, and at 22 I can slot level-25 IOs so I won't have to wonder mid-raid why I'm missing all the time and doing crap damage because all my SOs turned red on me.

As much as I love the auto-upgrade feature, it is a sad fact that when a newer player uses it, all of their SOs go bad at the same time, and sometimes...they often lack the funds to upgrade all of them. And they are probably oblivious to this because of the chaos in the "bowl" of the MSR. 1

Scarlet Shocker Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Not while XP boosters are available from START vendors. the amount of extra XP we can gain is already way too easy. Double XP weekends are meant to be a treat, something special to celebrate events in our game. To have regular events cheapens that experience (pun intended) and doesn't add much to the game. Sure, the DXP weekend brought new players to the game but so did the new page drop. Maybe that's a time to use it but not as an ordinary event How the hell am I even supposed to know if ignorance is bliss?
SeraphimKensai Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Double XP already exists 100% of the time for those that want it. Talk to the P2W aka Start Vendor and thank Jimmy. I think having reoccurring server-wide XP boosts can have detrimental effect to anyone playing actual content you know for the stories. I'm not opposed to a 3x XP from the Start Vendor, but since 2x XP already eliminates influence gain, maybe 3x would shut off salvage/recipes drops while active. That said though what I saw with the launch of the patch was lots of people scrambling to buy IOs for their new characters, so I'd be more amendable to an increased recipe drop rate during the weekend/week of a new major patch going live. 1

Mixed feelings on that. I didn't take advantage, but a lot of people noted getting way more influence with some decent marketing. Though ATOs have increased in value as well. (Tank & Corrupter iirc) Can you buy Windfall from anywhere besides a drop from a Superpack? Wonder if instead of a 2xp week, have a 2x droprate? (Saying week, so those that don't have a traditional weekend, can still get it) And for any of this, maybe instead of a global grant, it's something you can enable (or disable) by visiting any trainer or at least the gull. 1
