He was also incredibly weak, suffering from damaged lungs due to mustard gas exposure.

Yep.  His friend Stefan did most of the "heavy lifting" in their work then.

Playing as Marcus Cole before he got powers wouldn't make any sense since he spent the period from 1918 to 1930 (when he visited the Well) in Europe.

So? Does he HAVE to be strong for it to be a fun or cool story? We already technically 'play' as weak characters in some Personal Stories.

An important character in the past, one that is a major part of the worldbuilding and lore like Statesman being completely demystified isn't usually a good thing to do even with an excellent writing team. You take away a lot of mystique, the presence, the gravitas behind his self sacrifice. The importance of his story. It will make him less not more. Him being "dead" has far more meaning than being alive just from a new roleplayers perspective.

Yes, the work of heroes is built on sacrifice.

And for Villains, built on the failures of your predecessors to conquer the world so you must learn from them what didnt work!

That doesn't look like a reply to me.

I would actually prefer that if there is going to be a Statesman in COH it is because somebody else picked up the Mantle and made it their own. How many Captain Marvels, Green Lanterns, Captain Americas, Spidermans, Robins, etc. have we had so far? That would give it a fresh start without any baggage and not spoil the existing lore. He could be a relative if it worked for the story and could have entirely different powers since "Statesman" doesn't really define his abilities like say, "Fire Dude" would. This would expand where they could go moving forward and allow many more creative opportunities.

I would think that the Power of Zeus would have to go somewhere.

Good humor. As far as the power of Zeus as given from the Well as opposed to the power of Zeus that is in Pandora's Box, when Statesman died, it went back to the well just like when Imperious died. To be granted to someone else by the Well when that person drinks from the Well and the Well decides that person is worthy of the Well's support.

What happens to Statesman's powers is already shown in Signature Story Arc 2, Pandora's Box.

Pandora's Box and the Well of the Furies aren't the same thing. Statesman got his powers from the Well of the Furies. Pandora's Box was present in the Zig all the time that we have been running around with Statesman alive prior to his death. And for all the time that Statesman was alive and wielding the power of Zeus from the Well, Pandora's Box was just sitting there, holding the power of Zeus inside. So I disagree that we see what happens to Statesman's powers in SSA 2 because the Pandora's Box arc is about Pandora's Box (and the power of Zeus that Zeus placed in it) rather than the power of Zeus as given by the Well of the Furies. Statesman got his powers from the Well, not Pandora's Box. Yes, the power of Zeus in Pandora's Box is resolved for what happens to it, but not what the Well grants.

Maybe you need to learn to read. Just because YOU dont like the idea, doesnt mean no one else can, or add to it.
