Oh I know, I've got mine to 50 (cheapo set-slotting on the way) and actually went as far as buying some Winters and Purples sets for them I'm enjoying them so much.
-
Weirdly I'm dumping it for Placate. Find it hopelessly bad, breaks far too easily to be of use. If I were to suggest a fix I'd go for 50% DDR when Geoded up so it's not Hibernate levels of immunity but it also doesn't shatter like an egg every time I try and use it.

This is where I am with procs too. They're an interesting addition to builds and have a trade-off (alongside set slotting and frankenslotting / using HOs). So I'd be very cautious about changes to the proc system which would disrupt that and push people towards "the one way" to slot. I tend towards cheap-ish builds initially, focused on whatever I want. I may then, when I hit 50, decide I really like the build and throw in a purple / Winters set or two but that's pretty rare for me. I've two Tanks, a Stalker, a Corruptor and a Controller where I went that route but most 50s are sets, procs + a purple or two.

Just attach the actual Mids file like I did. Import/Export is a mess on Mids at the moment (except, weirdly, importing a text file from /buildsave in-game) so the easiest is just to upload the mids file.

How much in game currency do you have on hand.
Carnifax replied to Monty Haull's topic in General Discussion
Usually 250 million, with 100 of that reserved for whatever alt I'm playing. Once they near 50 (I don't tend to go nuts with purples and I slot as I go so there's rarely big investment needed at 50) my convert-marketeer starts his thing for the next alt (normally only takes 2-3 30 mins sessions). Last 50 I dinged I did, weirdly for me, splurge on some Winters (and crafted and converted some purples). That's only because I really really liked them (Ice/Stone/Mu stalker). -
+3 HOs? You're insane. I normally just slot regular ones I picked up in Hami raids. I'd suggest sticking your latest build up and highlighting the powers in question. Honestly though if you're exemping down you probably won't notice. But put the build up and we can suggest alternative slotting if needed.

Damn you! So I'm ~level 20 now with Fish Kebab after doing a couple of builds and as expected really liking them. Haven't even got the really fun Trick Arrow powers yet. Cheapo / getting to 50 build (no purples or the like) and a maxxed out version. I'll probably end up somewhere between the two builds once done (although I may also have my traditional Emergency Endurance Rejig in the early 30s). Close-enough-to-caps that Flash Arrow should floor their ToHit chances, lots of procs in various powers. All the TA tricks (even Glue Arrow which I usually skip). This looks VERY expensive. Also you're missing out on a fair few attacks (no Dehydrate or Steam Spray which is one of the best cones in the game). Maybe your recharge covers it, I dunno Here's my reaonably cheapo hover-blaster version (I don't do purpled + winters set builds for the most part, if I really like the character I might lob some in after but this isn't one of the characters where I did). How confident are you that your build is properly slotted?
Carnifax replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I usually come up with an idea. Then I Mids it and maybe move it to the beta server. Then I'll usually lob it into the appropriate sub-forum for people to look at and they'll correctly say things like "Carni, you're going to be GASPING for End all the time". So I'll correct it a bit. Then I'll hit 30 and realise they really, really meant it and spend more slots into fixing it properly and rejigging the build. Then, if and when I hit 50 I'll decide if I'm really enjoying the character and if yes I'll go from "mid-priced sets build" to "Winters & purples" version (because usually I make one build or download someone's then cut the dear things out like 5xWinters or 5xPurples. Then I go back and mess around making an expensive version). This was pretty much the journey for my Ice / Stone Stalker who is now one of my favourite characters and overtaken the other Stalkers & Scrappers I had. Edit : I'll also chunk 2c into the "other" debate. I really don't mind how other people build or what they like to do with their builds. As long as you're not doing something like "I have Repel Bubble on my FF at all times and scatter every spawn to the 4 winds" it's all good. Also build-wise I agree with Mael. You don't always have to go with pure sets. There's a fun trade to be had between full set slotting, few IOs + procs or just 4 frankenslotting a hold with 4 different Acc/Hold/Recharge IOs so you can save spots for something else. Losing any of those options would be terrible. -
Focused Feedback: Epic / Ancillary Power Pools
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Nope, I tested and reported the fact I'm losing the set bonuses earlier in this thread. Slotting might stick but set bonuses are definitely lost. -

Yep, as an abuser of Soul Drain I knew this was coming too. Only irk is I'll need to reslot it cos the Oblit set bonuses don't work post change. -
REALLY trying to understand pets, slotting and buffs (Dark/Dark)
Carnifax replied to Story Archer's topic in Controller
Looks very Tanky. It's a little different to how I like my controllers, I try and avoid proc-bombing core controls and prefer mezzing but that's up to you. Ditto on not taking Shadow Field, I have on Darks I've played but those were Dominators, so if you don't want it fair enough. Keeping that in one thing I did spot. You're not using Superior Will of the Controller at all. So maybe swap the WotC proc into Fearsome along with the rest of the set for more Recharge AND Defense and move the Cloud Senses proc into HoD. That also gives you 15% accuracy and Weave and Maneuvers look a little overslotted to me, you could drop one of the Def/End/Recharge slots from either or both of them and use the slot to max out -ToHit on Dark Servant and damage on the Haunts (I've dropped the +resist from Haunts too, personally I'd prefer the proc change on every punch they do but haven't run the numbers through my parser). But I'm very impressed with your def numbers overall with those capped Resists backing them up. Edit : Agreed on your Possess slotting. I NEVER proc it up because you can cast it from outside combat, if you proc it it will start triggering the enemies. As-is it's a useful "softening up" tool. On Carni solo I always use it on those Cairn-dropping Devouring stone lieuts (if I remember rightly doing so disables the Cairn buff but I could be wrong there). Mistress of Chains_rejigged.mbd -
REALLY trying to understand pets, slotting and buffs (Dark/Dark)
Carnifax replied to Story Archer's topic in Controller
Don't really notice. I'd still assume it needs a standard SOs worth of Acc so I slot one in. Best answer I can give is "run a radio or 2 with logging switched on and no extra Acc slotted then fire it through my parser", you'll see there what the actual hit rate ends up for each of its powers. -
REALLY trying to understand pets, slotting and buffs (Dark/Dark)

No, just upload the actual file from your hard disk. That's the expected way now cos Import / Export is borked at the mo. Like this Carnifax_tarantula.mbd -
REALLY trying to understand pets, slotting and buffs (Dark/Dark)
Carnifax replied to Story Archer's topic in Controller
I'd definitely lean towards Haunts over it. Carni does have the Tarantula out all the time, but that's a side effect of massive recharge bonuses to get the PAs perma. Tarantula as a mule depends on the rest of your build really, like I said on my first post upload your mids file here and folk can give it a look over -
REALLY trying to understand pets, slotting and buffs (Dark/Dark)
Carnifax replied to Story Archer's topic in Controller
Sorry, I've actually got 4 Cloud Senses including the Proc, plus the +ToHit from Dark Watchers slotted for them in Carni. It has a chance to proc every time the pet where it is slotted (or pets for things like MM tier 1 & 2 pets, imps or Phantom Army decoys) attacks. It will never affect you. Pretty sure yes but not sure why you'd never summon the Tarantula, it's a decent enough pet. -
My hover-blaster is Water / Temporal and works nicely. Water self-heals in attack chain + Temporals constantly rejigging Absorb makes you tanky and Tidal + Chronos + Geyser is always fun. My only Devices is a pure "in your face" Rad / Devices who likes dropping trip mines so can't help there.
-
Damn you. I've spent 20 mins making a mids build too. Looks tasty. But I already have 2 waters and 2 trick arrows. But it looks so fun.

Everything scourges but Whirlpool is a rain so it scourges extra-well

Water / Trick Arrow would be a monster. Edit : remember Cold is getting normalized in the next Page, Sleet is being set to obey AT modifiers

REALLY trying to understand pets, slotting and buffs (Dark/Dark)
Carnifax replied to Story Archer's topic in Controller
All 4 of the unique pet IOs give a Def or Resist bonus to all your pets. Great on masterminds and useful on you depending on your secondary. For Dark/Dark you get Fade so I'd aim for the Def ones if you have the slots. Typical pet slotting is 4 or 6 Expediant Reinforcements for the set bonuses, a proc if it'll go off a lot and maybe one of the uniques. Knowing which damage procs will go off means checking the powers they have and seeing what'll trigger. You can check Barkleys powers here for example. https://cod.uberguy.net/html/entity.html?entity=pets_umbra_beast Your slotting for fluffy looks good, I usually go 4 dark watchers and the cloud senses proc. The proc does most of his damage, because all his attacks do -tohit. It's not a LOT of damage but fluffy isn't for that. The soulbound proc is good for giving your most damaging pet build ups. I'd assume that'll be Barkley. I'd suggesting uploading your mids file totally so others can open it in mids and have a look. -
Uun is bang on here. The issue isn't just "cones" but that Nightfall is the most ridiculously narrow, long going. You want to be a good ways back with it So you miss out on that lovely extra damage from the PBAoE -resist for almost all of your Cone AoEs lowering your AoE damage overall. The cones just don't play nicely with Poisons Tier 9 at all regardless of how good you are at moving about. You'll always move out of it's debuff range. Radiation blast might be a better fit. That come is crap anyway and Rad feels "poisony" too, although I prefer water.

Focused Feedback: Epic / Ancillary Power Pools
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I assume it's to bring it inline with Tornado in Storm. But yes since it seems that changing sets like this loses set bonuses from the old set even if you leave it in (verified earlier in the thread) I'd be dubious about forcing this change on everyone since it forces them to reslot or lose set bonuses in the rejigged powers. -
Focused Feedback: Epic / Ancillary Power Pools
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Are you sure about this? Doesn't tally with what I am seeing. I jumped onto Beta over the weekend and checked the change and it looked to me like the Oblit set bonuses I'd slotted here weren't available. Beta is back up so I've checked again, I've two sets of Oblits in Dark Consumption & Soul but can only see one 5% Recharge and one 3.75% melee def bonus. So it's looking to me like you definitely lose the set bonuses from keeping melee slotting in the new power. There's also a 3.75% drop compared to Live -
You need to switch on logging to a file ingame. From the original post : /logchat will stick a message in general telling you it's on (also don't forget to add the Pet channels to the Combat tab). Then once done the log file is in : [Base Homecoming folder]\accounts\[AccountName]\Logs Mine are here for example.
