  1. No, was only going to eat Insight well after getting a cycle of Psi Melee's other attacks. The idea of Fury boosted DoTs were one of the initial items to sell me on doing a Psi Melee brute. Picked up Mass Levitate this morning before the patch. Nice for laying down Burn before getting to work with Psi Melee.
  2. I find farming about as interesting as watching paint dry. Probably paint drying wins out, but its close.
  3. Made the switch and have managed to get back to level 26. The only real difference so far is the niceness of having Consume. I have a first pass final build. Oh, there is another difference. I am going to be victimized by Toxic and Psionic attacks.
  4. A week ago I made a Psi/Dark brute since I had not played Dark since Live, and only played Psi on my initial Homecoming character (Rad/Psi Tanker). Play was enjoyable enough and without too much effort the character reached level 30. Still, I was concerned enough about how the character would play with a build I has planned out for him so I copied him to the Test Server to test his target, level 50 build. The power combo and build were perfectly fine and it was fun tossing carnies around. But... ...Psi Melee on its own is not really the best at dealing with crowds and while I had Death Shroud for dealing some area damage, Mass Levitate, while plenty of fun, just did not speed things along while waiting for Insight backed Psi-Blade Sweep to come along. So my mind has turned to possibly switching to Fire Aura for armor. Yeah, I would miss the Psionic Resistance from Dark Armor. But burning groups of things might allow me to live with the loss. Anyone ever give Psi/Fire a go? How was it?
  5. Yeah, yeah...there are qualifications to be made. But still....
  6. Seconded. Not really appropriate for a lot of backgrounds/origins
  7. I assure you Protean's ranged attack is far less problematic than his melee attack and being at ranged utterly negates his healing mechanic.
  8. I could name the character Eclipso...oh wait....
  9. Not sure how that evens things out when on some EBs ranged characters can just hover above and shoot the single fish in a barrel whereas melee MUST be all up in the EB's face.
  10. Recorded it: https://imgur.com/pU8oipv The sequence shown: Character pulses Deactivate Dark Embrace and pulsing stops Reactivate Dark Embrace and pulsing resumes Enter costume designer to show the power as a whole and Dark Embrace specifically is set to No Fade or Pulse. I could design around the pulse if the fight name were open, say Binary. But that is not the name I gave the character or want to use.
  11. I can toggle Dark Embrace off with other powers running and stop the pulsing. So it is Dark Embrace causing the problem, but it is set to not pulse.
  12. I have the general power effects set to No Fade or Pulse and I have Dark Embrace set to No Fade or Pulse... ...but my character pulses like he's being eclipsed and only when I have Dark Embrace toggled on (not negotiable since its Smash/Lethal resist). Why is the setting not working?
  13. My first character on Homecoming was a Rad/Psi Tanker. Did not find the set bad but she did not really inspire me to continue playing her post 50 or to try Psi Melee again. Night before last I started a Psi/Dark Brute. Maybe it is the benefit of being low level backed by Fury, but Psi Melee seems fairly effective. I will have to see how it holds up as he levels.
  14. The following gets you closer to perma-Hasten and what benefits it delivers:
  15. I sometimes wonder what goes through people's heads. While I refrain from suggesting various possibilities, I will express dismay at being downvoted for a dispassionate response factually stating what was done in the last patch, as if I personally had a hand in patch changes or expressed support or opposition to them. The forum community is becoming a bit too insane/toxic.
  16. Removed in the last patch.
  17. I have been watching too much of a certain animated show and wondered how close I could come to a particular character. I am not planning on using it, if anyone is interested in having the costume for their own use:
  18. Okay, Tankers have been updated on the Leadership page. Now it is just Blasters, Brutes, Scrappers, and Stalkers who have no reason to take Leadership. <insert comment about how Brutes get the short end of the stick again>
  19. Leadership - Unofficial Homecoming Wiki
  20. I still wouldn't take Maneuvers except to mule a LotG (though that holds for everyone), but Assault and Tactics look worth it for a Tanker/Brute.
  21. Not my chart. That's the chart from the Homecoming wiki
  22. I was with you (or at least willing to let what you think be a "here is how I want to play" statement) until you decided to be insulting in your final lines. It is no skin off my back that you persist in viewing what is widely considered by most players to be an overtuned set to have some sort of problem with survivability.
  23. I would suggest Radiant Black but there is an actual comic book character with that name.
  24. There are certainly ways to deal with the endurance cravings Radiation Melee or Dark Armor provoke and certainly looking at either's thematically paired set is a good idea (nevermind my absolute refusal to ever have thematically paired primary/secondary powersets). But if someone really wanted to play Radiaton Melee/Dark Armor.... Remember Ross Perot? You need to think about the following line said with his voice: There will be a giant sucking sound.
  25. It shouldn't be glass cannon. It is a hybrid set. You build for F/C/E/N Defense and S/L Resistance and back that with powers which augment your regeneration, recovery, and absorption. You do not get DDR, so need to be careful when engaging things which debuff Defense, particularly if those things deal in F/C/E/N damage, but on the upside you pretty well laugh at Endurance drain and Recharge and Movement debuffs. I suspect people having problem surviving with Bio come down to one of three things: They do not appreciate the hybrid nature of the set They do not know when to use their non-toggle powers The want to be in Offensive stance (which imposes a resistance penalty) all the time, particularly if either of the above points is in play. You have three stances you can be in--Defensive, Efficient, and Offensive. This gives you flexibility to adjust to deal with the situation you are facing. Or....you can build around one stance and never switch, which is what I do on my SS/Bio brute, who lives in Efficient stance, never runs out of endurance, and so is only limited by his ability to survive what is hitting him (not exactly a problem). Beyond that, you have three non-toggle powers: an absorption shield combined with a regen buff, a heal combined with endurance regain and recovery boost, and an Absorb/Regen/Recovery booster which debuffs enemy damage. Given scrappers do not reach the same resistance cap as Brutes/Tankers, your strategy for using these powers may be a bit different than what I do on my brute. I can see the merits to popping your absorption shield before running into groups so you can whittle down the group to manageable numbers before the shield fails and you are relying on your combination of resistance/defense whereas on my brute I tend to only pop the power once something has started to work his health down. I will say you should probably adopt the following situational check: Am I surrounded by six or more enemies? Activate Parasitic Aura. I find that prevents sudden onset dirt naps.
