  1. That's appreciated.
  2. That was a fine arc. You've headed off in a tangent that I have pondered and come up with an interesting solution. My own take is that there isn't any missing years! Sometimes you get lucky and the planet has some relative peace for a while. Now that would not have happened if the game had not been shut down but we are where we are. We still do all the missions that are "in the past' right up to the Magesterium iTrial, and Cole has been sitting in a supers prison for 7 years now 🙂 And lives move on, dulling our reactions so when the next big bad hits no one is ready. 😄
  3. One extra tag in there that allows me to exclude farms would be a nice addition.
  4. I've no issues with this at all 😀. Agree 100 per cent. I could have been clearer. Perhaps an additional tag? (Too many already!) Like Canon Focussed Mission Architect? I'm not attempting to demean any non canon AE, I'm simply saying when we have, effectively, no new canon content in game and there are AE authors making such then it seems a win/win to mine the AE for it. I've played a good few non canon AE stories and thoroughly enjoyed them. But again, I'm wading through countless farms to find them unfortunately.
  5. Going to say what I said on a different thread. I was chatting to a friend in team chat the other day while we were waiting for two people to zone in and she asked me how I was getting on with my AE thing. Cue me telling her a little bit until another team member quizzes me about "how many purps does it drop?" and "what's the best diff to max the XP/inf?" And when I said I literally have no idea because that's not what it's about, they said "why the hell are you bothering? Nobody plays for that stupid reason". (Comments made nicer than they actually were). Rather than get into an argument on the internet I just Lebowski'd it. Now, I'd like to say this is uncommon but it isn't. I see it a lot. Admittedly the farmers I see it from are a minority of you but they are damn loud and opinionated about it. I don't farm. I've tried it and it bored the hell out of me. And my only actual complaint about farming echoes an earlier comment, there's a truckload of fire farms out there, why do people think we need another one? As for farms getting 5 stars? Maybe they're a great farm. Perhaps the rating system needs changing if we can't tag an AE as a farm or as SFMA. Stars only a farm can get, stars only story content can get? Another little thing, having had a think about my earlier mention of "real" content, all farm makers and farmers know that farms aren't "real" content, and that's fine because that's literally not the point of them. And those of us who prefer SFMA would prefer if it was "real" content. I've played a few that are better than plenty of things actually in the game. I am tempted now to stick a call out on LFG using your exact phrase! We do need more content, there's the makings of it in AE and it should be in the actual game.
  6. I've got an old school villain (no sg/no base/no double xp/run, ferry, chopper, jet pack everywhere) called Wendigo Montoya. "My name is Wendigo Montoya. Yeah, you're in trouble now."
  7. Then mail me the arc ids if you have them published. I'm on Reunion so frankly I'm not available time wise to create a character on a different shard to come with anyone on a test run away from "home". Sorry. That last bit is aimed at everyone as opposed to just you, Seed22!
  8. I'll do that if someone wants to hit me up via @Darmian. But the usual caveats of my job apply: don't get annoyed if you're corrected 🙂
  9. As someone who isn't a member of the roleplay faction, and frankly I think I'm part of the majority when it comes to that, however atypical the numbers are on COH, I still want new "real" content. Sharing personal adventures with friends IS a hell of a tool and I enjoy that. I spent a chunk of my life as a dedicated tabletop GM for RPGs and I get a kick out of it. But we would not even be having this discussion if we were getting actual in-world content. And we're not getting it. We know why. I'm not laying blame but it's still a fact. But we're a volunteer community here, not just volunteer Devs/GMs, so I think there is an onus on us (ha!) to fill that gap ourselves. Us asking that the best (subjective obviously) of what we do find a way into the actual game isn't entirely unreasonable. There's plenty there I could phrase better, I am thinking on the fly here to some extent. Bear with me.
  10. Exactly. I edit for a living and I STILL find typos that your eye just doesn't see first time round. So either leave some space before publishing and go over it again or get a friend in to test it and take notes.
  11. Right now, apart from the nice little Vig/Rogue arcs we got last year the only new content, as in story, is created by us. Now (beware, ego rising!), I've written a 45 episode/mission canon related series and I'm happy with it. If it was good enough to drop into the game ("good" = subjective, and a bit of work I know, maybe some tweaking since I had AE limitations the Devs/GMs don't have, and I'm not even talking about the different way in-world missions are coded.) then take it away! And I'm damn sure I'm not the only AE author who will say that. I also treat AE SFMA as "real" missions, but quite a lot don't. And that's a big issue in a game that, through no fault of a hard working volunteer team of Devs and GMs, pretty much doesn't have new "real" content. I love this game. But it's going to need more than my nostalgia to keep me here another year. And sadly I don't think I'm alone in that.
  12. Well I was more attempting to build Infected that were higher than level 10.
  13. It can get a little tiresome finding narrative reasons as to why an ally is either so far ahead of the player or just plain captured. Though I did come up with one I was very pleased with.
  14. I can tell you right now that the Office Flooded Set/Medium/Office - Flooded Set 2 will work for this because I've done this exact thing for the very first mission of my AE series. The ally mission goal is set to none, surrounding enemy group is empty and placement is front. Admittedly you may not WANT a flooded office!
  15. Just pick your map, set size and don't pick random. Set enemy to empty, make sure you have temporary filler text in the five text bars that are essential (not the additional text stuff), give yourself one collectible as an objective and set it to spawn at the back. Then save and test. Just step into the map after accepting the Mish from the contact hologram and when you are inside bring up the mini map as you walk around. This mini map often diverges from the one on the creator outside. So make a note of what's what and so on. To speed things up you can choose "Go to next objective" from architect options and you'll be teleported to the glowie, and you can compare its location to the spawn point on the mini map. And walking the maps can inspire ideas you might not have considered just by choosing one from the drop-down menu. With your choice of an ally, instead of a collectible set add ally, set their appearance to front with no guards, then walk in again. Compare their position to the ally spawn point on the mini map. It's tedious but it can be done.
  16. No. Short answer. Longer answer? It's doable but you need a tiny map and even then it doesn't always work, you have to trial and error each map for spawns. Also do walk the maps as well as just looking at them on the AE creator. The spawn points you see don't always line up and the ones in the actual map space (that you walk in) are the ones that matter.
  17. Fun. And for others, pay attention to the NPC chat, I laughed heartily!
  18. Well I'll need to go through it again but pretty certain I saw "The Matrix" and "War Games" referenced, just to start with.
  19. I'll just leave it as Dark Deeds in Galaxy City: Part One Arc id 26756. The very first part. That's not signifying I think the rest isn't as good, far from it.
  20. I've probably disqualified myself from the Dev Choice by writing From Dark to Darkest I don't think a Dev Choice is supposed to be 45 episodes/missions long. Oh well.
  21. I've had a look at my glowies and actually removed a few! Escort? I've a few of those, mostly across either a small map or a small part of a map, but I think only one fails your test, but I also think it's mitigated by the fact that that is the entire point of that episode. Oh well. Thanks for the feedback!
  22. What do you normally class as a time waster? Personally I despise Defeat All, so you won't find a single one of those in my stuff. Likewise you can usually defeat the boss by only killing the boss and not all their minions too. There's one or two out of the entire 45 episodes that you have to but there's reasons for that, like they may be the only combat encounter for instance. There's definitely a few "scenery" glowies and there's a few "scenery" destructibles, but the latter is because it lets me spawn extra troops over the listed limit. I have one map with about ten spaced out destructibles. There were supposed to be five and all in the front. No matter what I did they spawned literally everywhere, so rather than have a player forlornly searching for five in a largish space and getting frustrated, I doubled the number to keep the action moving. It's a kludgy fix but I haven't figured out a better solution yet.
  23. An alt should start with the default tabs if you need to check.
  24. You've only got a certain amount of bosses per map so you wouldn't use that quota on a scenery mob really. And yes, adding some regen etc would make the rogues last longer. If you want them to last longer.
  25. Yeah but your stuff is worth playing! I mean I was chatting to a friend in team chat the other day while we were waiting for two people to zone in and she asked me how I was getting on with my AE thing. Sigh. Keep writing stories people! Some of us love them!
