I agree with @biostem. The problem with an NPC evaluator of PC builds is it can only be made to look at specific things and it cannot account for the way the game changes over time, the primary effect/purpose the player is trying for with the build, and is completely based upon on what the coder thinks is best. The sheer variety of builds possible, coupled with the different ways the different set and non-set enhancements can be used together, would make coding this monster as an evaluation of each and every asking player's possible builds impossibly huge in order for it to actually do anything. My recommendation is to either not bother with it or have the NPC give only general build advice such as how set bonuses can only be gained five times for each bonus of a specific value per type. (As a side note? Having an NPC that tells you how to build your character takes away one of the more interesting elements of the game and risks making all characters cookie cutter cutouts.)

I should have been more clear. Let me try again. The starting arcs in City Hall are not in Ouroboros. So if anyone wants to do those, they need to do them at level. Any further arcs are available through Ouroboros. And Ouroboros doesn't care what your origin is, so you can do the origin-based arcs freely. There are two problems with that. First being that if you already have the contact started, it will not progress your standing with said contact because missions/arcs done through Ouroboros are TFs/SFs, rather than contact given missions/arcs. The second being not all missions are in Ouroboros as shown by the original starter arcs not being present, and I am not sure all other arcs are represented either. Edit: To be clear, I am adding the secondary concern since I am re-writing the original thought. Just drop the second problem from the statement, and you have what I was trying to say.

Web Grenades and all variants to get Toxic/Fire damage dot added.
Rudra replied to kelika2's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
According to Mids, only Devices have the toxic web grenade, yeah. Traps and the Soldiers of Arachnos lack the toxic damage. I'm definitely for beefing up the Mercs set. My Mercs MM definitely struggles where none of my other MMs do. And I'm for beefing up the web grenade in Traps to include toxic too. So I guess I would be for just adding a toxic DoT to all non-AoE webnades depending on what specific mechanical benefits each version has. I am disinclined to go through and compare them all right now though. That would still leave out the Wolf Spiders' version however, since it is an AoE. -
To deal with the MM (or anyone else) making MM sidekicks, could just limit the powers that are available for choice for the sidekick. Probably just lock out the MM AT as a sidekick choice. Then there wouldn't be any MM's with 13+ non-temp power pets. I would also recommend limiting the number of powers the sidekick/lackey gets. 7 powers is a LOT of powers for a helper/sidekick. Not sure what would be a good number though.
-
After ranking up, the proposed sidekick/lackey would be a higher tier, but lower level, pet than the MM's best pet. (Edit: With more powers at that.) That is a problem, at least to me. I typically find bosses, even when lower con than a lieutenant, to be significantly better than the lieutenant. That white boss will often outlast the yellow lieutenant, and do slightly more damage while at it. I feel the proposal rather undermines the point of the MM AT with its AT power set lackeys. At least patron power pool pet summons aren't available until your character is at least level 41. And the temp power versions have limited uses before expiring. Maybe that is just me though. ... Probably just me.... As for a boost for approaching tougher content? There is the difficulty settings that can be lowered if needed. And there is a rather large pool of individuals already complaining the game is too easy. This gives them another option to make the game easier. It may be optional, but why wouldn't they avail themselves of the extra free power? Especially since it doesn't take a power slot. Free extra firepower that will fight by my side, never expires from use, and I can still have all my regularly available powers? Sure! There is already a wide array of temp power pet summons available to all characters. Not just the PvP zone earned summons either. Several of those can be gained repeatedly in Ouroboros. (You can check the https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Category:Temporary_Summon_Powers page for more information.) And that doesn't count the pet powers you can buy from the P2W vendor. There are players that multibox and have multiple alts in play at once. And now they will have a sidekick that will auto-fight for them for each alt they are running already. (Not really a consideration, but something I think needed to be pointed out. They already have multiple sidekicks/lackeys following them around providing support.) That is the extent of my complaints about this. While I have a reflexive hatred of anything linking to CO, I can see the merit of a Nemesis-based system being added. *shrug* I don't know. I'm sure there is a group of players that will immediately say "yes please" to this. And you put a lot of thought into this. And the PC having a sidekick or lackey would be in keeping with comics. So between the likely popular opinion and the fact it keeps in theme with comic character progression (at least for characters not on a team)? If it gets implemented? I won't really object. Edit again: Just had a weird thought that could complicate this: A mastermind with all regular powers has 6 pets. 7 if they took dark miasma as their secondary. And they can take a mastermind sidekick/lackey under this proposal. That can have all 6 pets. 7 If they also take dark miasma. So now the MM player has 13-15 pets. (6 pets from AT + sidekick/lackey + 6 pets from sidekick/lackey +up to 2 more pets from secondaries.) Before you get into temp powers.

Web Grenades and all variants to get Toxic/Fire damage dot added.
Rudra replied to kelika2's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Some webnades already have a toxic DoT. And as the pre-developed form of Arachnos Soldier, I'm fine with the Wolf Spider webnade being less than the others. Though I am quite likely in the minority on that. Making non-Wolf Spider webandes all have a toxic DoT component would be great with me. Though I am against adding a fire DoT. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Sorry. -
People are always free to disagree. And if they do, they are free to express that disagreement. It carries no more weight than those that agree. Receiving negative feedback is an opening for idea refinement and development. Positive feedback is always good, but it is the negative feedback that helps the idea grow.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't that why Hasten is considered a must have by so many players is because it is needed to make most powers perma?
-
I feel you. It's so frustrating to open your contacts list and see all those incomplete contacts. And know that even if you use Ouroboros to revisit them and do the rest of their content, they will forever more be stuck at that same incomplete point. It's like... why can't Ouroboros progress their contact level bars?! Edit: Please don't answer the question. It has previously been explained to me. I am simply lamenting the situation.

That is a possibility. One of the best uses for team teleport I saw was a character taking a group of starting characters on a whirlwind tour for all the explore badges. Edit: And probably the saddest example was a team teleporter assuring a bunch of super speedsters not to worry because he could get them anywhere the team needed to go in the Shadow Shard. Just for all the speedsters to pop jet pack temp powers and fly off. I really felt sorry for the player.
-
Well, it basically works like that. However, I have seen teams being teleported by the team teleporter, and even been on one. As @biostem said though, that only really happens in close groups. Usually a SG of all in person friends that also happen to play together. Edit: So it's not that the devs gave us something useless, it's that the players often prefer to use their own travel powers. Which renders it less than as useful as envisioned.
-
That or the comic characters that create teleportation fields that allow them to teleport themselves and everyone within a set radius. Edit: I get the feeling that is was assumed that fliers and teleporters would use the team/group versions of their powers to help their non-flying and non-teleporting teammates get around. Characters with super speed and super jump though, never bother to get taken along for the ride. So... a good idea... with no real use.... but that is strictly my opinion.

The starting character arcs are not in Ouroboros. Except for the post-fall of Galaxy City arcs. So if you want to do those, you will need to hit up the contacts while still in their level range. Later arcs are accessible, to the best of my knowledge, just not the starter get-used-to-the-game stuff in City Hall. Yes, the origin-based contacts still send you to the next origin-based contact in the line as they did before the contacts were all opened up to everybody. So if you want to play that way, you still can. With a lot of the random filler missions removed though, you may find yourself running off to other contacts to help keep you going. Or hitting up radio missions for filler. Or alignment/moralities if you're 20+. Either way, have fun. Edit: As for the arc about the origin of origins, you're probably thinking of the Origin of Power arc available around level 15 (available from the respective Midnighter contact) where you talk to a rep of each origin and then fight the CoT in a mission of glowies that includes a reference to the lost divine origin. Either that, or you are thinking of the... is it in Cimerora? ... later arc that revisits the same idea.

My apologies for being less than clear. My last two posts were just in response to @UltraAlt. Apologies for the impression I was arguing against your thread.
-
Like I said, I saw none. Even with your quotes, I still see none. I do not read those posts as being mocking. Not even a little bit. Did I not already address this part? The whole your post reads very much like the OP so of course that is how it is going to be taken? And then followed up by just quoting your post and highlighting where you said the same thing as the OP? I sincerely believe you are simply trolling me. And I am tired of repeating myself, even posting your own quote by itself with the referenced part highlighted to remind you of what you said. Even when shown your own comment with no other posters comments attached, you still deny saying posting what you said. Then you turn around and take: as derision rather than the obvious point it is. You argued that you want other people to have to dip into a power pool to get what they already have so that you won't have to dip into a power pool to get what you want and do not currently have access to outside of the power pool. That is the point @Luminara was making. That is not derision. That is highlighting your hypocrisy. This is a statement of fact as portrayed in this thread. By you and the OP. That is still not derision. Your insistence that anything not in agreement with you is derision is infuriating. I am done with this thread. I will never respond to this thread again. I am tired of you claiming two contrary positions as one and then warping what is in this thread to justify your position. You do not argue in good faith. I can't even fathom this.
-
Not seeing the relevance. As the definition states, it is contemptuous ridicule or mockery. Not disagreement. No one made any attempts to ridicule or mock anything in this thread. Feel free to provide quotes from the thread you hold to be derision. I saw none. To expand on the provided definition: ridicule [ rid-i-kyool ] See synonyms for: ridicule / ridiculed / ridicules / ridiculing on Thesaurus.com noun speech or action intended to cause contemptuous laughter at a person or thing; derision. verb (used with object), rid·i·culed, rid·i·cul·ing. to deride; make fun of. mockery [ mok-uh-ree ] See synonyms for mockery on Thesaurus.com noun, plural mock·er·ies. ridicule, contempt, or derision. a derisive, imitative action or speech. a subject or occasion of derision. an imitation, especially of a ridiculous or unsatisfactory kind. a mocking pretense; travesty: a mockery of justice. something absurdly or offensively inadequate or unfitting. No one made fun of anyone in this thread. Quoting people to highlight their own words as reminder of commentary or to illustrate a point is not imitative action or speech. There was no contempt. There was emphatic disagreement with the thread. There was equally emphatic defense of the thread. There was no derision. Edit: If this response is what you were trying to convey with your provided definition, then I apologize for misunderstanding.

Are there any underpowered power sets you'd like to see buffed?
Rudra replied to Harrow's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I object! I dispute this claim! (Only because someone issued a challenge. I have no proof to dispute this claim. I agree they could definitely use a make over. Challenge was issued and I just had to bite though. Sorry. 😛) -

Rudra replied to Harrow's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I suppose that would depend on what you mean by needed. Could I get some clarification here? Would be appreciated. -
If you get the book icon, you can outlevel the contact, but you retain access to that arc and can complete it whenever you like.
-
No, they don't. Make a new toon. Enter City Hall. Enter any of the origin offices regardless of your origin. Talk to the contacts. They give you their missions. I make it a point of doing every origin contact at the starting levels with every character I make blue side. (Edit: Then the Habashi arcs.) The later origin contacts? Got introduced to your character without regard to your character's origin even before the origin limitation was removed back on Live. You were just more likely to have them introduced to you if you were that origin because of the contacts you started with.
-
I don't understand. The origin contacts, which I'm guessing you mean the starter contacts since the later ones don't care what your origin is, can all be completed. (Edit: Actually, none of the contacts care what your origin is any more. So... disregard that part please.) The conflict comes in the tutorial assigning you to the newest contact that starts the Hellions/Arachnos arc. If you try to do those arcs and the origin contacts with xp on, then yeah, they can't be completed before you out-level them. If you skip the tutorial and just walk into City Hall and talk up your origin contacts though, there is no problem with completing them. I am not against being able to dismiss contacts. I am just confused by your declaration that they can't be completed. (If you want to do the Hellions/Arachnos arc and the origin contacts? Then do the origin contacts. You can complete the Hellions/Arachnos arcs in Ouroboros. Or turn off xp, do the origin contacts, then turn on xp and do the Hellions/Arachnos arcs. Whichever you prefer.)

Mass Hypnosis is a sleep? Whoops. Thought it was an AoE confuse. Sorry. Edit: I'm... going to go edit my list of powers now.... Note: When using a post for data, actually re-read all the powers each time to be certain.... Sometimes I'm just a goombah.

Except I don't see it being activated in the middle of combat, but rather maintained as per Shadowfall/Steamy Mist. If it were activated during combat? The enemies would still know there were enemies there and be trying to find them/attacking where they last saw them. Regardless, I'm not sufficiently familiar with controllers/dominators to say more than that. Also, as an aside? The only reason I suggested Mental Army have possibly 4 or 5 phantoms is because it is now listed as a higher tier than Phantom Army and I was trying to differentiate it in a way that explains the higher tier. I'm fine with pretty much any differentiation. Reduced endurance cost. Longer duration. Faster recharge. Flying blue monkeys delivering tea and crumpets to the character. Don't care, just want a differentiation. Also, instead of psychic psychic attacks, I see the Mental Army phantoms being spawned with random attack animations. They should do psychic damage, yes. They are only in the viewers' minds. The attack type animations should be randomly assigned per summon though, from a list of equal animation time attacks. If possible... which probably isn't... but a body can dream.... Edit: Hells, the psychic damage with random animations should be ample differentiation now that I think about it.
