  1. The Stormy Knight is already level 29 on Excelsior (Defender, however).
  2. I much prefer Torrent from Dark Blast, although Defenders get it late. It's faster animating, better debuff, and it feels like it positions enemies more precisely.
  3. No love for Dark Blast? The strong, hard-hitting self heal seems useful and Dark Pit can stack with Thunder Clap (and Oppressive Gloom from the ancillary) to give you THREE AoE stuns, any two of which can be stacked to stun bosses...that's starting to be useful.
  4. Well to be honest, if you only have one or two ways to sort, it's a lot less useful. The ability to group by different criteria is in itself useful.
  5. Sounds like a competitor to Brutes for farming.
  6. I am slowly working on this combo. Ice Slick makes it safe enough to run in with Arctic Air and Temporal Junction running. The end cost is huge, but I am running with empty slots so it might get better. Those two PBAoE soft controls are the same radius and work really well together.
  7. We can fix that! It's easy to make friends in this game. I usually have to go to some trouble to avoid it...lots of people send server or global friends requests, sometimes unprovoked. Just tell us what server you're on and either a character name or global and I'll bet you'll get some offers just from folks reading this.
  8. So we have 1000 slots, and it's searchable. That's great. I feel like some sort options could still be useful. Imagine if you could re-sort your characters by: * Alphabetical * Level * Creation Date * Time Played (hours) * Archetype * Hero or Villain (currently) * Influence/Infamy (currently held) * Most Recently Played The sort direction could go either way, so you could put Most Recently Played characters at the top of the list ("Who have I been focusing on?") or the leaset recently played ("Who needs to come out and play?") or quickly find out "Where all my Blasters at?" or respond to a call for "DFB forming!" by quickly finding your low level folks.
  9. So you want to be able to convert knockback to knockdown globally for one slot because as currently implemented, slotting individual powers leaves you "stretched thin" and, presumably, slightly less effective than other characters because of multiple slots occupied by the proc IO. But then you're fine with other players who don't want the global effect being "stretched thin" and, presumably, slightly less effective than other characters because of multiple slots occupied by the proc IO. I think the idea needs more work so it isn't solving only some players' desires.
  10. What about Sonic? The -Resist seems good. But would that be sufficiently better on a Defender to warrant going that AT instead?
  11. I thought Force Feedback chance for +recharge in a pseudopet (like Tornado, Lightning Storm, etc.) doesn't buff you, the caster. And it wouldn't benefit Tornado itself. Am I wrong about that?
  12. So far I am liking the soft control from Arctic Air paired with Time Manipulation's Temporal Junction PBAoE instead of World of Confusion. Both powers have the same radius. Both slow, AA has a flee effect and -recharge, TJ has -to hit and -damage. Enemies not confused often run back and forth uselessly in the radius; confused foes miss a lot and do less damage when they do hit. So even though the confuse is unreliable and short-lived, you still get a ton of mitigation from it but lose somewhat LESS exp due to enemies killing each other. It can be dangerous to move into a group with Arctic Air and wait for its effects to kick in, but Time's Juncture helps protect you a lot. This pairing is extremely hard on endurance but the net effect is both funny and useful.
  13. Just last night I was playing a much newer, more "modern" game with old friends. One of is was the wrong level for the content and...nothing could be done about it. Five of us wanted to play together, but team size is capped at 4. None of us was playing the build we wanted to play because you can't even get the equipment for it until you hit the level cap. We walked everywhere. We did the same content over and over, basically just farming xp and drops. Everyone was one of the same 7 classes. We were dressed like random murderhobos, because our appearance was tied to the random items we wore for their stat bonuses. Such is modern gaming. All I could think about was CoH/V, but they were reluctant to try it. Edit: also such is formatting bullet points on a mobile device.
  14. Someone on Reddit asserts that Corruptors have higher base damage than Blasters in testing: Can anyone confirm this? If so, is it just on the test server (Justin) or elsewhere? Obviously it shouldn't be higher than Blaster damage.
  15. I've been on travel for two weeks and only got back a few days ago. I was so excited about all the possibilities open to me that I could hardly wait to log in. Once I did log in, the pure excitement was replaced by a sort of steady, low-level euphoria, Everything just felt interesting and somehow right.
  16. Anyone have any impressions or insights regarding the Staff/Rad Armor combo? Recently made a costume I like using recolored Rad for watery look. Played a little Staff back in the day but no Rad Armor experience at all.
  17. It could be argued that a level 50 character constitutes some degree of "using" the name.
  18. For years, playing COH, one of the best plugs I could make for the game was to describe with horror what I'd seen in other games where people's clicks were tracked by their peers. The drama, the whining, the meanness, the pin-headed focus on "statistics uber alles" tore apart friendships, depopulated guilds and collapsed communities. The absence of such tools in COH was wonderful and the playerbase as a whole was blessedly free of such things. These tools corrupt. Even in my group of gaming friends, who prided themselves on being nice and patent with beginners to the point that our unofficial motto was "play nice and show some class," I saw people use these tools in WoW and Guild Wars to suggest kicking out "underperforming" friends. So, uh, pleeeease don't. Even when used with the best of intentions, such tools are bad for the game and worse for the people who play it. And they are seldom used with the best of intentions.
  19. While we're at it, can we get the ability to roll or bank? That would be nifty.
  20. Energy damage lights oil slick too. Beam does energy.
  21. With Pyre, you get Fireball. You can build enough +recharge to run Combust, Fire Sword Circle, Burn, and Fireball in a continuous rotation without pause. Cycling four PBAoEs is awesome for killing crowds.
  22. I ran a Super Reflexes Scrapper for years back in the day. The -def debuff resistance is great, and it's necessary, in a sense, in order to distinguish SR from all the "I got SR's main thing with IO sets" crowd. Be warned that Earthquake from COT mages is flagged unresistable for some reason. I think that's a bug -- the player powerset doesn't mention it.
  23. Brute: "Oh shit, there goes my Fury." Scrapper: "Look at THAT clump of bad guys!"
  24. Preach it. Back in the day, I used to see posts saying the Scrapper inherent was bad because it couldn't be planned for or strategized around. But to me it's always been a fun surprise when CRITICAL pops up. People also complained that crits are "wasted" on foes with little life remaining (strangely, I don't remember anyone saying that about Scourge), but that's just an opportunity to shout "Boo yah! How do you like THAT?!?" at the monitor.
  25. Does EA have defense debuff resistance? SR gets quite a lot and in practice it's helpful. Also SR gets scaling damage resistance as health gets lower.
