  1. When this was the case, I was in Korea where Netflix didn't have license to operate. So I ended up paying for a VPN. Now I'm in Korea again, and though Netflix is available I now have the same problem with Disney+. Luckily NordVPN is very good and will automatically cycle IPs (or something?) until Disney+ relents and plays*. Anyhow, all that to say basically the more things change, the more they stay the same. A good VPN is sometimes the necessary evil you need to get around regional restrictions. *Disney+ blocks known VPN-associated IPs
  2. Honestly, if your decision point is this refined, I strongly recommend you go to the beta server and test both out. See which you like better. It seems like you have focused build goals and have thought about this a lot, so I'm assuming you have builds ready to test at 50. Take the several hours to fully kit them and run them through something. I personally like doing Mender Ramiel's arc at 54/8 to test how the Honoree/Captain Pantsface dual-AV fight goes on a new characters. The constant rikti ambushes are a nice touch. Again, it's a few hours worth of time investment, but it could save you several days worth of playtime and then regretting the option you picked based of of feedback from the wretched masses (excluding Bopper).
  3. Hi, sorry for the pseudo-necro, but about this line: Have you ever run against 54 PPD? The are stacked with PBs, which have -def on every attack they use outside of dwarf form, and the dwarves taunt. This is offset by taking Tactical Training: Assault to a large degree, but it can still create frustration on Blood Widows and Fortunatas attempted to disrupt priority targets in a fight. Also all of those attacks are energy, so unless specifically built for it resistance is going to be on the low side. Oh, and sometimes they rez themselves. The way I usually get around this is the same way I handle them on my Invul/ Tanker: pop Ageless Radial. Although it's got a long recharge, typically the effects within the first half of the duration are enough of a boost to get you through a massive DDR failure. Just to emphasize, again I run into problems with this group even with an Invul Tanker. Meaning Defense stacked up to the 70's in a full dogpile of enemies can still get cascaded into sub-softcap. They are my #1 most hated enemy group across all of my characters. Consider adding them to this line?
  4. That sucker's lit up like the fourth of July. Basically Rudolph over there.
  5. *sweats in double entendre*
  6. I'd say I have one character that I've invested a lot of time into, in terms of play, build theory, and outside-the-game articulation. She was my main during my brief stint in CoV, though on HC she's a Tanker. Still not sure if that was a good call almost two years later. But I don't play her as much as I used to. To answer the questions in the OP, my attachment is certainly more out of sentimentality than anything else. Same with my runner-up, who is usually a crowd favorite due to spectacle and levity she brings to the right group. Luckily, my heart is big enough for two mains.
  7. Tried to do something where 5th Column meets Wolfenstein. I like how the look came out (especially the back), but despite trying for an actual villain on this one, I get pretty uncomfortable playing what is obviously a fascist character at times. 😕
  8. This would dramatically impact RP SGs that use AE to craft their own narrative arcs. Even though I don't play as part of that world anymore, I'd be strongly against shutting down AE for this reason alone. Have you tried some of @Linea's maps? I don't know if they are advertised outside of Everlasting, but they put on some hurt at the 801.5 and above iterations.
  9. Damn there is a lot of truth to this. When I play on *cough* other servers, the lack of P2W boosts is quite noticeable, and it impacts how I "gear up" accordingly. Despite the AH being void and unbinned like the HC AH, I still find it easier to craft IOs starting in my mid-20s and slot those, than wait for SOs of the right category to drop. The slower leveling means that salvage comes rolling in, even (or because of?) when capable of running at +0/x4.
  10. This is also anecdote and not data, but I've been in a few roleplay crowds here and there and have found that folks who reach out to learn more about optimized building are often working with Basic IOs in lieu of sets, but not SOs. I think it's because Basic IOs have better values that SOs, and are priced affordably enough on the AH. But again, that's just my basic analysis. These types of roleplay characters would also show as being without IO set bonuses in their powers tab, but would still be taking on the game at an improved position above the SO balance point. Just food for thought.
  11. I see people farming threads. Just to go to Luna in Ouro. To fill their tray with nothing but Super Recharge Insps. .... I would be one of them. So I can't decide if I'm for or against this.
  12. The Airlift Badge strongly implies that Praetoria (the city) supplies other intercontinental locations. Without further explanation of the political relationships (outposts? vassal states?) to these other places, we're left with only guesses and material ripe for artistic development. My guess was always that Hamidon was abiding to the agreement with Cole. Why the Hamidon attack on First Ward even happened I'll never understand but then again First Ward is a bit of a mess anyhow. Some of my favorite writing in the game, but certainly a bit of a mess. Also, I think the clockwork help burn away spores with their flamethrowers? I could have sworn I've seen NPC flavor dialog suggesting this. Or I'm confusing it with Nausicaa. TwoDee is a treasure. He was hugely instrumental in helping orient me to Praetoria back in the summer 2019. I stopped playing well short of sundown, so I had a lot of lore ground to cover and he was like a literary Sherpa. I've also never seen him make anything short of an insightful comment, in general. An easy mistake to make, since if you roll a character at level 1 and play through the content, you basically help stop the Praetorian invasion in reverse order; Sutter before TinPex. I don't know if there is a good solution to this? I guess we could make completion of both Tin Mage II and Apex a requirement for unlocking Sutter, but I doubt that would make players very happy.
  13. It's called Brawl. It will be on every character's action bar at level one. It costs no Endurance and you can use it once every two seconds; faster with more recharge. Put it on autocast: ctrl+click, a green circle will appear around it. Now you have an auto attack. Weave your other powers in between until you have enough that it's not necessary. Also, there are vendors called "P2W" that you can get free attacks from which are useful at the start but can be replaced with better powers you earn as you level up. Also, bye.
  14. I actually addressed all these in the post prior. Also let's not be disingenuous with each other, it weakens our own arguments. I'll summarize: - Being picked for a team was not the issue. The issue was that the Tanker was not fun or interesting to play. You could, but you'd be a less-good Brute, and this stood at basically any part of the build spectrum (except perhaps proc monsters? Honestly not sure). My specific example again: if I wanted to tank for a group I didn't use my tanker I used my brute because they did it better. - Brutes are not inferior melee damage dealers. They are clearing faster than tanks. Brutes have higher single target damage as well. Does their damage output match Stalkers and Scrappers? No, but they are also more durable. These are not my original thoughts. I'm only summarizing what I've read from people who have tested and posted results here in this thread.
  15. And I'm of the opinion that they should not. Nobody should tank as well as Tankers. Again, my opinion, but also I think probably the general design philosophy. As to whether they should be doing more or less AoE damage as tankers, I'm not touching that. More savvy testers already concluded that Brutes are clearing faster than Tankers (albeit small margins) so I'm not inclined to believe the impact is as severe as you say. Legitimate? Objective? Pick for your team? Can we go back to how we actually play this game? When was the last time anyone seriously cherry-picked ATs for a team (that um, wasn't a debuffer for Reichsman)? I roll Brutes because they fit a concept. I roll Brutes because I want to be able to bulldoze everything and have fun with an actual attack chain below level 20. I have never once, for any of my characters (including Tankers) rolled them and thought "Oh jeez, will people not let me join their team?" We all understand it doesn't work like that. The only real hang-up for not picking a Brute? You're not going to be the best at 1 thing. Sorry. But it has that in common with a lot of other ATs.
  16. Okay so, first: This was exactly the position of Tankers vs. Brutes before the tanker buffs hit, only reversed. Without rehashing the damage and target cap aspects, the way taunting was supercharged on tankers was absolutely necessary (as were the Fury changes to compensate) because as a Tanker, if I started a group and a competent Brute joined, I might as well have passed star and quit right then. It wouldn't matter if I was double stacking rage, it wouldn't matter if I was chaining Footstomp, Taunt, and Dark Obliteration (ooof my Ends!), that well-played Brute was taking my agro, and soaking the hits, and I couldn't do anything about it. And if they leapfrogged me, the team would just follow them and leave me there flapping in the wind. It was impossible to tank on a Tanker with a Brute around. It got so bad I actually just stopped grouping. Just flat-out stopped, somewhere around early Nov 2019. My Tanker became a badger and that's all I did with her. Solo. Mostly cause she was my most-played and had a lead on badges. If I wanted to tank for teams, I'd pull my Brute out. At least the Brute actually has that as a realistic option. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you suggesting that the literal namesake AT of the function shouldn't be the primary AT for said function? If Stalkers were called Singletargeters, would it not sound absurd to complain about how Scrappers aren't at parity with them in dishing out single target melee damage?
  17. Weren't VEATs on Live restricted to Natural Origin? IIRC Psionics are considered in the game lore to be "natural." Though, with that said there are obvious deviations like Penny Yin who as a youngster in Faultline is described as using her powers "naturally" but is considered a mutant later on when she shows up in Indy Port. Probably not super helpful, other than to illustrate that the lore is... flexible.
  18. Is your MM running any powers that might increase healing received? I'm just as confused as you are, and this is the only thing I can think of without being able to look under the hood myself. Just to make sure: you don't have Power Transfer: Chance to Heal Self slotted and are mistaking the green numbers coming from that, are you?
  19. I have been seeing some really impressive damage output from EA/Fire scrappers here and there. I'd roll one myself, but for my passionate dislike of any powerset that takes away from me seeing my character. Also: FWOOSH FWOOSH FWOOSH But seriously: Build Up & Fiery Embrace into Total Focus > Energy Transfer > Bone Smasher > Energy Transfer (assuming a crit on TF for two charges) results in some big numbers.
  20. Just put it in the ELTFs MOTD. People will come!
  21. Yeah but you blew your chances when you came back at the devs the way you did. Time to chalk this one up as an "L." The title of this response could be "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" or alternatively, "You have no power here!"
  22. You stay away from my Footstomp with that attitude!
