  1. Break free inspirations also have a very low % drop chance. I do not know the numbers, but on one of my blasters I have it set to ignore all but heal, defense, and break frees. It's pretty common that my 20 inspirations fill up on heal and defense, and with 0 or 1 break free. I think Mez resistance (not mez immunity) should be more available through pool powers and IO sets. Also (stealing from other games) receiving damage could reduce the timer on anything currently affecting you while having lower hp % could increase resistance on incoming mezz effects.
  2. I agree... I mean, people saying we need a melee control AT, isn't that what Dominators are? I think we have enough ATs. I could see adding a powerset, but honestly, we have a lot of them already, just small tweaks to balance and we're good there. Perhaps more alternate animations on the ones we have. More mission content would be great. Granted we have a ton of mission content as well, but the way content has kept getting better and better over time, I think just adding more new content using those new tools would be great... preferably endgame playable, also. The New Pretorian arc is perfect. More please, thanks!
  3. I think really the issue with /SR isn't that /SR is bad.. it's that defense is so easy to get from sets that you can soft cap your defenses with other Secondary power pools. This means /SR's only real advantage is it's resistance to defense debuffs. I agree with Billz, that this is no small thing. In fact it's a huge thing. But does it outweigh having damage resistance and regen/absorb/heal powers layered on top of that defense defense? IMHO, sometimes yes, but most of the time, no.
  4. /SR is like bringing a store-bought pie to a party instead of baking your own from scratch. It's easier and tastes fine, but making one from scratch that tastes good feels like more of an achievement.
  5. It occurred to me after reading through this thread that I really wasn't sure I'd seen a melee toon without -regen and without pets solo a GM (basically just using pure DPS). So I logged in my StJ/Bio scrapper.... without using DNA Siphon and without using lore pet or any other temp powers, I solo'd Babbage in Boomtown. I used my hybrid toggle to start and finished the fight a few seconds before it came up 2nd time. For reference if you want to do some math to calculate DPS, this toon beats a Pylon in right about 2 min also without DNA Siphon, then beat Babbage in just under 4 min using the same setup.
  6. Wow. I'm speechless... I've been gaming and posting on forums for decades and I can't say I've ever seen such a simple straight answer from a Dev on the inner-workings and mechanizations of their manipulation of our world before. This really is something special we've got. Thanks!
  7. If the proc is a buff (like the force feedback proc) does the pet receive the benefit or the player?
  8. Ironically, I don't even think this ... ...is definitively true to begin with.
  9. I dump every recipe and every piece of salvage I get on the market whenever my inventory fills up, so I see this story from the opposite side. There are usually a handful of what one might call "crap" recipes that don't sell immediately, but everything does eventually sell. I think the way the converters and attuning system work, there's really no recipe that isn't useful so there's no reason not to list everything and expect it to move. Therefore, there's also no reason not to expect to find everything on the market, especially if you buy attuned enhancements so levels don't matter. I was suspicious too after coming back that the AH was being "seeded" by the Devs. But that was before I understood how converters worked and how the salvage pools work.
  10. let's be honest... I still cannot believe it is true and I've been playing since August.
  11. You have your multi-box characters talk among themselves in group chat? That's funny. Do they ever get in arguments and rage quit their team?
  12. The 2 toons I play 90% of the time, are both devices blasters. One is Beam Rifle one is Dual Pistols. I'm absolutely a min-maxer type players and I'm very pleased with these 2 toons. So why did I pick Devices not just once, but twice? Honestly it's 2 1/2 powers. I don't really use anything else at level 50. First is Targeting Drone. It gives me +hit and +damage and it's a toggle so it never interupts my attack chain. It's just on and I forget it. Second is Field Operative. It's always on, always gives me regen and recovery AND defense/stealth without needing to hit something or be in combat, it's just there at all times. Other sets don't give everything I just listed in 2 powers. The last power I'm calling 1/2 of a power is the fact that devices tier 1 power that is a immobilize makes a handy set mule for +smash/lethal defense. Other sets have this, too, but no other set has all that in 2 1/2 powers. This gives me plenty of build flexibility to add all the pool powers, Primary Powers, Epic Powers and set mules I need to maximize my build. One might argue that any secondary power set where you actively choose to ignore 6 of the 9 powers is a bad set. And, well, yeah, I agree you are probably right. But ironically, it's the fact that everything is loaded into those few powers that turned out to be exactly what I wanted to optimize my final builds.
  13. I sometimes use throw away names and costumes to just get me out of the creator and into the game. With the option to change names and costumes at any time, I usually develop a final concept as I go rather than before I start. In fact, I think my currently most played toon "Hyperdrive Monkey" wasn't locked in with a name and costume until I hit 50 and decided for sure it was a keeper. And truthfully, I think this is a more accurate way to play a superhero game. You don't start out as a hero with a back story and costume. You start out somewhat weak and inexperienced but hopeful kid/monkey. Over time, as you level up, you grow into a hero deserving of a name/costume and backstory. It feels weird saying, "Yeah, I'm an inter-dimension bounty hunter with technology gained from traveling the multiverse and collecting hundreds of bounties, but a level 4 Hellion Lt in Atlas Park is kicking my rear end."
  14. My first thought was... Wait, they don't have an approved trademark now? I'm pretty sure there's a requirement of "actively using the name/phrase for interstate commerce" requirement to get a trademark approved. Failing this they should have filed an "intent to use" application and should only do that if they actually intend to use it. My take away is that if their application is approved, they could send a cease and desist letter for using the name. But that would only apply to the name, wouldn't it? Nothing a few splash screen updates can't fix. But, I'm not a lawyer, so I'll defer to anyone who knows more I remember from my business law classes.
  15. I'm not saying you called it the wrong thing. I'm telling everyone who doesn't know it's a proc that it's not a double hit.
  16. I'm not sure I'm interpreting your question right, but just to clarify... A set, such as Kinetic Combat (Melee Damage) maxes out at level 35 (iirc). But you still get it's bonuses at level 50. The set bonuses only go away if you're below the minimum level, not if your above the maximum level.
  17. My tests with blasters also fit this rule and I use Core. Furthermore, if there is a Kin on my team using fulcrum shift well, who cares if I have assault core or radial? Whatever I'm shooting is dying either way. But when I'm solo or not buffed fighting an AV or GM, I do want to maximize my damage, in which case, core is the better option. Also note, that the damage from radial is not a "double hit." It's just a damage proc for a fixed amount of damage.
  18. I've seen references in some posts to Kinetic Melee needing to be fixed, or a fix coming. What's broke about it?
  19. Based on your subject line, I'm going to guess you have some Champions Online experience. I'm not going to lie to you or to myself. The costume creator is better over there, especially so if you are making non-humans or cartoon-styled heroes. In truth, if costume contests and standing around looking cool in starter zones are your thing, that's a better game for you. But here in CoH, game-play is better, the game itself is much larger, the player base is MUCH MUCH larger, while the costume creator is still excellent.
  20. If there's multiple procs and 1 of them also has set-members slotted, then I would slot the set-proc ahead of the others to keep the set together with the other procs following them to the right. If I had pairs both with procs, that would be difficult to resolve. I'd probably change my slotting so that there's a HamiO or something else that didn't create this issue. Luckily this has never came up in reality.
  21. I think this is a real testament to the greatness of this game. The player base is actually much larger and much more active than many (what shall I call them?) "commercially active" MMOs.
  22. Responding to some of the early posts before reading the whole thread so maybe this is asked/answered already... My understanding of Concentrated Strike is that when it crits, it takes Power Siphon off cool-down. So does increasing your crit chance (with AO procs) increase it's chance of activation or is it a fixed %?
  23. Nobody ever talks about kinetic melee. It's first 3 attacks are fast... very fast.
  24. It's possible to determine a market value of something without having the current owner agree to sell it for that value. In other words, how much would a reasonable company pay for this IP if they intended to then make a profit off of it. That would take creating a business model, calculating the projected return and risk factors, and desired profit margin, then comparing it to other options available in the market. Given that source code has been leaked and from what everyone says, it's a mess anyway. I'm guessing the IP is now pretty worthless. The source code had some monetary value because it had a loyal following willing to spend money. But anyone wanting to tie-up the IP would have to spend money fighting in court to shutdown other servers. I think any and all viable companies would choose self generated content over paying anything for this mess. And in my humble opinion, this mess is actually uniquely wonderful and suits me just fine.
