I made my first no travel power toon back on live before ninja-run came out. It was before the fitness pool was free, too so ultra-builds were very tight. It was almost a badge of honor in that I had a build that focused so much on squeezing out power that I sacrificed my travel power. Crossing a zone was challenging, but I also really learned the zones well. I learned all the shortcuts up walls in steel canyon and how to get to the highways in skyway city. I learned the quickest way to the terra volta power plant door by foot. I actually really enjoyed it. Then they gave us free fitness, and ninja run/beast run and I was almost upset because my sacrifice was no longer needed. I still generally don't take a travel power because I really like the ninja run and beast run animations.

Cannot attune six enhancements in a row (same power)
Shred Monkey replied to Logansan's topic in Bug Reports
By chance was the 6th one always a proc? I know proc's can't be boosted so they must have a code difference... maybe there's something wonky in the way the attunement screen deals with procs that can trigger a crash. -
You're missing the fact that elevators just go between 2 floors to begin with instead of stopping at every floor like in a real building. To make things worse, typically the elevator to the next floor is intentionally on the opposite side of the map.

Gaussian Fire Control :Chance for Build Up
Shred Monkey replied to Drake Hellspawn's topic in General Discussion
I monitor +damage in combat attributes. That's the only way I know of to see when it triggers. I promise, it works. But there are no "WORDS OF INDICATION" for this proc. Note, that the way procs work, if you have it in build up (or aim) it will trigger virtually every time you use the power. Tactics is another great place to put it because the chance to proc increases with more teammates. -
I joined a MoLRTF a few weeks ago with my blapper. Someone (jokingly) said we were in trouble now with my toon joining. My response... "Don't worry guys... if I DO die, I promise, it will be spectacular." (end of story... we failed, but no I didn't die. Blappers can be built to be extremely survivable these days... So much so, it makes me struggle to justify playing anything else.)

One Saturday morning back when I was single, I woke up early had some time before stores opened to run some errands. I started a game of Master of Orion on the max sized map and hardest difficulty just for something to do. I ended up playing all the way through to final victory. Upon finishing, it was just about time for the stores to open ...except it was now Sunday instead of Saturday.

What is with the oponents scattering all the time???
Shred Monkey replied to PeterDutcher's topic in General Discussion
The only solution I've found to this problem is to hit them harder so they don't get up anymore. IMHO, world needs more problems with this solution. -
Weekly Discussion 39: Incarnate Powers!
Shred Monkey replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
OK... so in the beginning I have to confess, I hated incarnate powers. I felt like it blurred the lines between ATs and roles too much. It gave Blasters status protection, it gave tanks healing, it gave everyone a nuke! I was afraid it would make such a huge impact that it would negate some ATs completely by giving other people access to their niche skill set. I since have decided that was an over reaction and that the incarnate powers don't actually do as much as I originally thought they would. By far the most powerful one is the alpha slot, and much of its power is from the level shift and not the enhancement itself. The others are actually pretty minor in their boosts. I think the destiny slot is the best balanced power slot. It has become a swiss army knife for me. Most of my toons have 3-4 tier 4 destinies built to use in different situations (note: most of these situations involve iTrial badging). I like that about the slot. I wish other slots had this type of utility. Most of the other slots only have 1 or 2 *BEST* options so these should be looked at for balancing purposes. The interface slot is just broken. It barely does anything. I'm pretty sure it literally is broken and not working as intended. -
I mostly just roam the earth punching stuff and looking cool. But I have noticed badge hunting is very popular and requires literally hundreds of hours worth of endgame play.

Bill'z OP is accurate. But the missing component is highlighted below. (numbers made up for illustration purposes) Tanker mitigation = 99 Brute mitigation = 95 Scrapper mitigation = 85 Stalker mitigation = 75 Minimum mitigation required for 98% of the game = 50 So one might ask, from a numbers perspective, why play anything except a max-damage toon? (note: This is the reason there's only stalkers and blasters in my sig)

Funny thing.. I built an elec/DB tank and started into the TF/level up phase this weekend. Ran synapse when I was level 25, and WOW, elec/ tanks are AWESOME in this TF. Even at level 25 my energy resists were capped. These little robots couldn't scratch me. I finally felt like a tank. It was great! But, the TF still sucks.
-
I think the changes tanks got for size and count of AoE powers, should kick in for brutes if above a certain fury level... make that level high so it's hard to hit, but definitely worth trying.
-
Yeah... but some things were better left unexplained. I hope the new shows give us more space opera and less soap opera.

I've always felt it was rude when people go off on someone posting off topic, so please don't take this that way. But, you will get more responses if you ask this question in the general discussion or in the AT specific boards instead of a server specific board.

A lot of people say Numina, but I kind of like it. Originally the level cap was 40 and this TF was a final "replay of your life" task force. In theory, it tests your knowledge of all the original zones in the game. That's kind of cool, imho. It goes fast if you coordinate well with your team and your team knows where to find bad guys in each zone. The Faultline hunt one is the only hunt that actually takes time because vahz are harder to find after the zone was redone (they're down in the bottom of the Canyons, and unfortunately in small groups.) Granted, it's not a TF I repeat regularly just for fun. But unlike Synapse, I always look forward to doing it with each alt.

Why don't you play on the Villain Side?
Shred Monkey replied to Raught19's topic in General Discussion
I think they should make all zones accessible by all alignments. You can't get red side missions unless you're the right alignment, but there's no logical reason as to why you can't travel there as a hero. Really, it should be the opposite. Why wouldn't a hero go to the rogue isles to fight crime? I always end up being a vigilante because it allows me to go to both sides. And, unlike rogue, it doesn't get in the way of getting an invite for coop content since most people are blue-side aligned. -
By "full invis" I meant you can walk into a spawn of anything that doesn't have improved detection and not be seen. Yes, field op + stealth IO gives this level of invis. It's the same as Stealth + a stealth IO or super speed + stealth IO, or just the invisibility power by itself. Things that see through this are pretty rare. Rikti drones are the most common. Those Eyeballs in Shadowshard... I'm pretty sure there's a longbow that has +perception, but I don't know which one. Snipers yes, but there's not many of those. You have to be aware of the +damage eliminators in a CoT map.

I agree with this recommendation. I slot attuned IOs in my build as soon as I have enough slots for them. Generally I try to stay with ones that are also in my level 50 build, too. Usually the slotting begins around level 22 with some of the standards.... The +recovery uniques IOs in health and Stamina. Possibly the +3 defense IOs in tough. Then comes the 6-slotted thunderstrikes in a ranged toon, or the 4-slotted kinetic combats in a melee toons to set up my defenses. Also if there's something uniquely great in the ATOs, I stick that in as early as possible. I would say it's usually around level 35 that I really get a true IO build set up.

I'm not sure it has been mentioned... I'm fairly certain you can't actually turn on both stealth (pool power) and field operative (devices stealth power) at the same time. Clearly field operative is better between the, two since it also has your end and regen boosts and costs no endurance. Note, that you get full invis from having field operative on and a stealth IO in a travel power (which can be slotted in sprint).

Clearly the common theme here is that excessive length is bad, particularly when it contains repetitive missions. (ironic in a game where farming is so common)

I don't see a lot of blappers, which is one of the reasons I like to play one. My main right now is fire/energy. Fire being obvious for high DPS short animation attacks (blaze and snipe) to mix in with the big 2 melee attacks from /energy. I debated between /energy and /electric. They both have essentially identical melee attack options. I went with energy because I really like energize as my sustain power. I was a little worried about how well I could balance energy in/out and energize easily handled my concerns. I think the thing that I really enjoy this toon is the animation times. I fire off 6 attacks per rotation in a little over 7 seconds. Because of this, I'm hardly ever corpse-blasting unlike a set with attacks in the 1.8-2.5 second range. Also, having a PBAoE nuke just fits perfect since i'm generally in the middle of a spawn anyway. And the fact that blaze and snipe are actually ranged, is quite handy when you get a runner or a flyer, or maybe the last guy standing is on the other size of the spawn from you. Your blast often gets to the last enemy before the other damage dealers because they have to run to melee before starting their attack. For status protection I use clarion core slotted in my destiny incarnate power. For below level 50 content, I find just having good defense goes a long way. You can't get held if you don't get hit. I do have the blaster ATO status protection proc slotted... i assume it is doing something, but it's hard to know how much it does. I also carry break frees (along with greens, purples, and reds) but they don't get used very often.

Inf/hour earned is only 1/2 the story. You should also look at your inf/hour spent. You only need a lot of inf if you play a lot of alts who are still lacking enhancements. If you, on the other hand, play your fully built level 50's all the time, you'll be earning huge amounts of inf, merits, and emp merits that you don't need. I'm not saying you shouldn't play alts. Go ahead, make as many alts as you want. Just understand the basic balance equation. Logically speaking if you are spend all your time play new toons and never play your maxed out toons, your need for more influence is growing faster than your incoming influence. Some people balance this equation by playing the market. Others farm. While others simply play their high level toons enough that they organically have inf for their next build.

Anyone have a video of the animation for cross punch? I haven't found one in my online searching, and I can't see it from the initial character creator. I could make an alt build with it just to see it, but I thought I'd check here first.

That lightning on your arms looks dumb!

Yeah.. this is really the heart of this whole discussion. If people don't want to go through the (very minimal) effort of earning influence needed for a high end build, then they don't get to have one. Nobody owes them an easier path to success. It's already too easy.
