What other AT would be he perfect duo boxer for a Crabbermind?

Ya I read the post more closer! And edited my response. EA is not a good fit for a passive dual box support. -

I think electric affinity support will work well. It's the premier set for survival and covers all the holes, especially that pesky kb hole for pets. You might as well make it a mastermind so you have ALL the pets. Demons is probably the best bet for the primary. But if you want to stay on the natural/tech theme mercs or bots should be fine as well. Isn't the guassian's proc rate affected by the number of pets if it's placed in TT leadership or tactics? I think I read somewhere it scales based on teammates/pets so that's an extra bonus if that's still true. I read the post again, nevermind, EA is an active set and won't fit your need., maybe Cold, give your pets some more defense and exotic resistance, and benumb the occasional hard target. -
The first 3 attacks are fairly fast but the other attacks are indeed on the longish side. Seasoned builders will tell you to skip concentrated strike and load up on procs on the early attacks to make up for not having a real heavy hitter. If going that way I'd recommend pairing it with a secondary that offers a recharge boost, as you will need more recharge to string those early attacks into a smooth attack chain. For the blue patch during battle maiden, learn to joust. It will change the way you play the game. Right before you fire a long animating attack jump backwards/sideways/forwards, the momentum will carry you out of the patch and you will animate your attack when you land. Practice that in a lowbie zone against lowbie mobs. The timing isn't super difficult for single target melee attacks, but the positioning needs to be tighter for small radius PbAoEs like burst and the timing needs to be much tighter for ground based powers such as foot stomp.

You can always choose not to interact with the beggars. Besides the "inf no problem build plz," posts, I also ignore posts like "I suck at builds so I need a build" or "I need a build cuz there are none posted" and I see the same discussion on the build a few posts down. I don't feel inclined to help those people that aren't willing to put in any effort, and it's not hard to spot the repeat offenders. That's not to say that I'm going to call them out and nag about it though. My not interacting with them doesn't interfere with their ability to do whatever they want to do nor my ability to enjoy my game. However I am concerned about the lurkers. I think there are a lot more lurkers than beggars that actually scour the forums and copy builds, I see quite a few necro posts commenting on builds for followup. Some people do the work but they are too shy to ask for help. And if they piggyback on a beggar post and copy a shitty build and perpetuate that as a "good build" to their peers then that to me is a problem. For example I see builds inspired by fire farming templates that gets billed as general content builds. Another common example are those builds that skip key powers or take them very late in game progression, which is not a good fit for a leveling build or a build that plans to exemp down for content. I also know for a fact that some lurkers are quite capable of making builds, and they just need a little help to fine tune them. Examples below: Beam/TA build needs yours assistance - Blaster - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com) Help me fix this mess (Beam/Temp) - Blaster - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com) So here is a call to action for the lurkers that feel they need a bit more help after scouring the forums: Just like anything else in life, raises for example, if you don't ask you will never get it. So ask. But make sure you ask nuanced questions with specific goals, the devil is in the details. Protip - if you see any build with multiple full 6 slotted purple sets that should give you pause. People that build like that most likely do not have very optimized builds. You can certainly use such a build as a template, tweek it/post it and ask for additional feedback (Is this build good? I'm looking to do XYZ, is it a good fit? can it be better?). Even that little bit shows effort and you are more likely to get real help from legit build experts. And to the people helping, explain the why, please. Don't just throw up a build without context. Do that not just for the OP but for the lurkers. I understand some people can't use mids, but they can still ask for help, and they can still ask in a way that shows that they put in some effort. If someone presented a google spreadsheet on a post asking for help that absolutely incentivizes me to help them make the best build possible based on their requirements.

I've never made a panda that people didn't like. Except for Pottymouth panda, he's a pottymouth.

The build looks like it was built off a fire farm template. But if built for that purpose the accuracy is way too low to reliably hit +4 or +3 mobs in such a farm. (In mids go to options-configuration, navigate to the exemp and base values tab and set the base to hit to 39 to simulate your to hit against +4 mobs.) And if the intent is to build for extreme survival you are also ignoring that transfusion and some of the other Kinetics powers play a very large part in that strategy, and again, their accuracy is too low to consistently hit during those clutch moments when you need a heal to top you off. As it stands transfusion has a 57% chance to hit against +4s and the other key kin powers such as fulcrum shift are even lower. I think anyone that looks at those values will agree that's not enough against +4s. Tactics from leadership pool can help your chances to hit but instead you took assault, and late game that power is obsolete because you can get to the damage cap through fulcrum shift. There is a place for assault early game, but based on your desire to build for survival I'd take tactics over assault so you can land your heals. Consume is redundant when you have transference, acrobatics can easily be replaced by a KB protect IO. I used acrobatics for a long time on live and it can help muscle through one hold, but there are tons of sleeps/stuns out there and what acro covers is so narrow compared to it's end use and how deep into a power pool you need to dig to get it, that it's simply more efficient to carry breakfrees and get a kb protection IO. The power definitely could use a rework. Fire/Cold defense is way over the softcap and as such a lot of slots are wasted on extra F/C defense that you don't need, Even for Fire farms you only need 45% fire defense, no more. And for general content F/C defense is the least desirable. I find a combination of S/L and Range Defense will have 99% of attack types/vectors covered for those ATs without mez protection. Thinking that you need to go into melee range means you need to build for melee defense is the biggest trap that I see newbie players that play blasters/defenders and other squishies fall into. Of the defenses range defense is more important, range defense works whether you are 10 feet away from the mob or 50 feet away, as long as they can't swing at you. If you learn to move and position yourself carefully you won't need melee defense all that much. You can also rearrange your power pick selection so that you pick up siphon speed earlier. You really don't need hasten at level 6, nor do you need vengeance by level 30. If you get rid of consume and acrobatics you can pick another attack. I find shockwave a good and consistent mitigation tool with a kb-kd proc. It recharges fairly fast and does fairly reliable knockdown. On the other hand if you are more offense oriented screech is another -res debuff and you can use that on tough boss/av fights to further whittle down mob resistance. TL;DR version Improve your accuracy, get rid of the extra fire defense, re-examine your power picks.

Is your friend punching stuff in the face as well? Side by side dark blast should not feel lacking compared to electric blast, however some players choose to play entirely ranged blasters which means they skip all the melee attacks in the secondary, and when you put that up against a player that embraces the melee attacks to punch face as well as blast face, the former will feel lacking at times. Share your build, maybe it's your power selections, maybe it's your slotting, having that context helps.

When I run teams/TF I just declare: "If you want to speed go ahead. Those that don't want to speed hang with me and we'll kill stuff on our way to the objective." 9 times out of 10 the majority of the team will stick with me and there'll be 1 or two that rush ahead. And the reality is that a lot of times the kill team will pretty much clear up to the objective during the time it takes for the 1 or 2 loners to clear the final room. Unless it's a glowie click...

I don't think you are alone. There are plenty of posts along the lines of "looking for build inf not a problem lol" with 0 responses. I ignore the begging posts but I do tend to chime in on those posts where posters put some effort in. What concerns/saddens me is that 1 - there are a lot of new players that post that go straight to begging 2 - they are getting fed some really shitty builds and they are none the wiser
-
The area you can cover with a 30 degree cone gets bigger if the cone has more range. I took frost breath for early leveling. It recharges faster than ice storm and is much more useful early on. I ended up keeping both on my blaster. It felt better having both, knowing there is always one AoE that I can spam is comforting, even though said AoE needs a little bit of positioning.

Dark. Applying consistent to hit debuff has more value especially against hard targets like AV/GMs. Slows/KD do well against fodder but are pretty ineffective against those harder targets. Dark has has a much more reliable KB/KD power that isn't dependent on tidal stacks, and the heal is immediate. Water's slows and KD can not stop some mobs from reaching you and Dark has tentacles to do just that. I vote Dark.

Not everyone that comes to homecoming begs for a god tier build and PL their way to 50 and then act like they know all there is to know about this game. I haven't seen many posts from the OP asking for God Tier builds. Based on his/her previous posts they are just taking the game in at the base level, not a whole lot of IOs, no optimized builds, etc... It took me almost 2 years on live to get my first 50 and many more to really understand the game. Some people play very casually, I see long time posters that can't even come up with a decent build on their own, others that still think that blasters are strictly a ranged AT and ignore their entire secondary (how many people will form a lynch mob and rag on a poster about that? not as many as when someone says I wanna make a pure tank or a pure healer I guarantee you. The hypocrisy is real,) others don't know anything about lore (like me). I don't see 12 months as a meaningful metric to how competent posters are on these forums.

I don't necessarily think the OP is talking about this in the context of how they want to play the game to 50 and beyond. Based on his/her other posts they mostly struggle early game, into the 30s. Maybe they give up at that point and start another toon. I can see where they are coming from, not that I agree with them on this "dedicated playstyle." However I have the benefit of being able to fund my builds and I also have the benefit of having a lot of experience with the game. When you are poor and only using DOs you need to invest more slots into powers just to get proper enhancement values. Some sets also front load good power picks so that it's easy to lean really heavily into just the primary early game. It's not uncommon to see some tanker/defender builds with only 1 attack until level 10 or beyond, and less than 4 attacks when they reach level 30. In addition, when you don't understand team dynamics or simply play with other poor players that don't understand teams it's easy to think "I need to do one thing that I'm designed for so I can contribute to the team as much as I can." Some builds mature later than others and up to that point you can potentially be playing a "dedicated build," I don't really see anything wrong with that.

I started a crab yesterday on a whim, I remember some discussions around the guassian proc doing well in tactics/leadership based on the number of teammates you have and if that applies to the pets, it might be a good place to stick it. Thanks for the analysis on the soulbound build up proc, very insightful. I incorporated that into my build. My experiences playing melee blasters has shown me that S/L and Ranged defense covers 99% of all attacks out there, the SOA have the benefit of upping their Psi def as well so I did that as well. You have to take either gloom or dark blast to start, might as well take gloom. Umbral Torrent is better than tenebrous,, it has longer range can be converted into KD if you wish, and carries a to hit debuff component and it's AoE. Thematically it fits as well because projecting a wave that knocks down/back opponents is more in theme for a martial artist than projecting tentacles. Also slots better because FF +recharge proc. I'm not here to stop you or anyone else from having fun. I just want to provide context to new players so they know what they are getting out of that kind of build philosophy. Also, not to be a party pooper but a lot of people build for defense so you are kinda doing that thing that everyone else does. If you really pride yourself on being a unicorn then I think building for + max range can be pretty neat. Put those centrioles to work 😁
-
Dark/sonic for a goth theme? You sing about darkness and despair and it comes to life If titan weapons had a Guitar option I'd totally make a guitar smasher Emp/sonic could work too for the bard concept, your songs heal and buff and stuff You can also be princess fiona from shrek with Nature/Sonic, minus attracting all the woodland critters.
-
I prefer Ice Mastery on Dominators, Sleet is really good and Frozen armor takes resist IOs. The benefit of scorpion shield is that you can take it without pre-requisites, but if I had to take a pre-requisite to get an armor, sleet is not a terrible pick.

5.25% base -to hit from the attacks is pretty low compared to the big boy debuffs out there. I wouldn't prioritize sacrificing damage potential of attacks just to squeeze in up to another 2.7%. A few things to consider about dark blast debuffs: Debuffs need to hit, one missed attack could be clutch in certain situations. Debuffs have finite duration, you need to apply constant pressure, could be harder to manage when you run into adds. Debuffs are subject to purple patch, so they are less effective, and since purple patch affects your hit rate, compound that by the previous 2 considerations. If you can find room for enhancing -to hit after you enhance the attacks for dam/acc/end/rech then yeah, have a ball, or you can slot some damage procs for some more incidental damage. One thing I have not seen is slotting a FF proc into umbral torrent, which I highly recommend. I slotted mine with 3 piece avalanche (all the pieces without recharge component, don't skimp on slow resist), the FF proc, overwhelming force KD IO and the annihilation -res proc. I also feel that being able to cycle KD consistently adds a lot more to my survival than the philosophy of slotting attacks not for damage but for secondary effects. As for all the cones, that makes for a good hover blaster concept. One of the things that got me in trouble a lot on my jousting dark/atomic blaster is that the range on umbral torrent often meant I blasted into the next group, firing down at an angle mitigates that risk. It can be a therapeutic play session because you really don't have to do anything else than hover and press 4 buttons 😁, the animations on the cones are long enough that you really don't have time or need to do anything else. I don't play hover blasters but I imagine you'll want to pick up evasive maneuvers for the -fly resist and the additional maneuverability. I do wish the range on the cones got a bit of normalization on dark blast though, it would make for a smoother (lazier 😆) playing experience.

You could drop the fighting pool. If you want to help the team keep leadership, every bit helps even if the values are low on a dominator. You can still keep CJ and speed, and make up for the lost LOTG slot in weave with one in vengeance if you can fit that in. As a dominator you have the luxury of being able to lock everything down so the loss of defense from weave isn't necessarily a deal breaker.

There are some missed opportunities for more control and some FF +recharge procs. Elec Manip is strong in melee if you can cycle thunderstrike and force of thunder, both with KD procs, to keep mobs knocked down. Both can also slot the FF +recharge proc and I highly recommend it. Force of thunder can be your opener and buys you time to cast short circuit. I would also pick up shocking grasp for a quick 1-2 hold on a boss with shocking bolt. Both are also very proc friendly if you want to squeeze in some extra damage. The two powers I would drop for those suggestions are voltaic sentinel and havoc punch. I just opened your build and noticed that you don't have ball lightning and you don't have lightning bolt slotted. It's not something I would do. Sometimes you don't have the luxury of duking it out in melee range (Apex Battle maiden fight and envoy of shadows' autohit aura comes to mind) and I feel a balance of range + melee options is always preferable. Lightning bolt can also be used when you are mezzed and is worth slotting. I would have done something like this following your build guidlines, I'm not a fan of hover for melee blasting, you need to invest another power to make it decent and I don't think that investment is worth it when you can just grab combat jumping and be done with it. I get evasive man is an LOTG mule but I wouldn't drop attacks for it, not matter how tempting that recharge bonus looks on paper. I would have preferred building towards range def softcap and at least 65% or higher slow resist but this build will work fine with all the mitigation you are packing. At the end of the day the below build has 12% less global recharge but has a more well rounded attack options + 50% slow resist + 35% range defense. I think the trade off for that missing 12% global recharge is well worth it.
