  1. Voltak, thanks for taking the time to write this up. You've always been helpful in the past, but it's great having so much info conveniently in one place. I'm going to have to have another go at dominator again.
  2. I'm sad that blaster got passed over for psionic mastery. It would open up many concepts that can't really be done well currently.
  3. This kind of mind is fine special snowflaking literally goes back to Issue 1 too. I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. I guess it's like the Beanbag shot thing, some people just like playing a bad powerset because it makes them feel unique? Objectively speaking though mind/ is in the worst place of any control set on controllers, which is why you only see it as a gimmick, if you see it at all.
  4. Too bad it's also pretty easily worse than Seeds of Confusion. Not to mention that's not even true, plenty of the T9 pets are better, because among other things they're actually up every pull.
  5. As someone whose very first controller in issue 1 was mind/ and who really keeps wanting to like it, the TK change is just a disappointment. Turning the levitate bug into a feature is neat, but just like TK itself it's just a gimmick. Even if it were up every spawn and a reliable way to set up containment and not get alphaed doing so it probably wouldn't be enough of a reason to play mind/ controller for any reason other than extreme devotion to concept. Is there a plan to give mind/ a pass at some point? It's arguably the worst of all the controller sets and an auto-hit hold was pretty much the only thing it did that some other set doesn't do better. Including mass confusion, which is and has been a real kick in the teeth.
  6. And yet procced out kin melee beats out most single proc melee power sets. Procs are ridiculously strong.

    katana/dark scrapper because Elric. db/dark for same reason.
  9. inv/ss tanker or warshade. Neither is in any way "the best," but both are really enjoyable.
  10. I'm pretty new to water so I can't speak to outstanding, but I really like my water/super reflexes sentinel.
  11. I can't decide which to do next. Both appear to be popular combinations, but I'm having a hard time understand what exactly is the appeal of one over the other. Does anyone with experience with either or both want to please lay out the high points of each? I know that Dark/Dark can solo basically anything when built right. How is Mind/Psy on that front?

    Storm!

    How are you planning to play the new storm blast? I'm thinking I'll go cliche and roll the storm/storm corrupter, but there are so many options!
  14. I totally blanked on the end. Sounds like it might be a great choice for dark/dark then.
  15. Are there any good rules of thumb for when it's worth it to invest in winter origin enhancements? There's the obvious fire farming case and I guess for some def builds they're a good choice? It feels like they ask for a pretty big slot investment though.
  16. fire/kin corr comes online early. So does plant/thorn dom. HEATS and VEATS are both great, but require some metagame knowledge.

    Sword and Gun

    What are the options for a sword and gun guy? So far I can think of a dp/ninja blaster or a dp/* sentinel with the ninja epic pool. Are there any others? I'm looking to build a kind of magic using guy that uses both sword and pistol that's actually reasonably good.
  18. Rectified Reticle 2 piece in both build up and aim and then 4 piece kinetic combat in as many melee attacks as you can stand, up to 5, along with the global defence uniques and scorpion shield will get you to 45% s/l on a budget and with reasonable slot efficiency.
  19. These are my warshade binds. I don't claim they're perfect, but they work decently well for me. I use slightly different trays than this guide, but this should easily be adapted and I hope it at least serves up some interesting ideas. I drop the bind file in C:\Games\Homecoming\settings\live\binds\warshade.txt I load it with /bindloadfile "binds/warshade.txt". You only have to load it once per character unless you edit it. Here's how I use it: C drops whatever form you're in, turns off affect self only, switches to human tray, and fires off eclipse. E switches to dwarf form and tray. If already in dwarf form it mires. So you can just mash e until the mire goes off and then switch to nova or whatever Alt-E drops any form you're in. If pressed again it does human mire. (I should probably make it drop intangible too) Shift+lbutton is your standard teleport bind Q switches to nova form and tray. It does nothing if you're already a nova, since I spend most of my time in nova. You could edit it like E to fire off a nova aoe or something for easy mashing and form switching. Alt-Q drops any forms as well as only affect self. I might bind some human form power here like I did for alt-E at some point. Edit: Oh it also turns on your intangibility power V drops whatever form you're in and does a heal. The idea is you shouldn't have to think about forms, you just press the key for the power you want and it happens. There's definitely room for improvement here!   20. I know there are trade-offs and neither is strictly better, but it appears that some power sets are generally better on one or the other. For example defender doesn't look like it gains much over corrupter for kinetics, while sonic blast is probably better on defenders because of the larger resist debuffs. What are some notable cases where, assuming your goal is overall effectiveness, you might prefer one or the other archetype for a given power set or power set pairing? I'm mostly interested in team content for this, but any insights including solo would be great.

  22. So far I've always preferred to build an alt instead of a second build. I could see dual building a Widow though.
  23. If you can handle the end it feels pretty tanky for a scrapper to me actually.
  24. Which AT and power sets have you particularly enjoyed? For me the two standouts are the Warshade built triform, and a dual blades/dark scrapper. I don't claim they're particularly powerful or even otherwise good, but I've just had a ton of fun playing them. What builds have you particularly enjoyed and why? For me the Warshade is because of the flexibility of the playstyle, and raining AoE death with maxed 85% resists and capped S/L. The Scrapper is more about the controller-lite with strong melee playstyle.
  25. I really appreciate your sharing your knowledge. I've been looking at your post history though and I can only find your impressive earth/ dominator build. If it's not too much trouble would you help us all out? Those videos are very impressive!
