Is it my imagination or did they add xp bonus powers to Hero Packs?
Luminara replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in The Market
Do you mean Experienced? If so, that's been popping out of packs since... Page 2, I think? I remember noticing them when everyone received 5x Experienced (was that New Year?), and using them to keep a character in patrol XP for several levels. -
Focused Feedback: Changes to Sleep and Placate
Luminara replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Something's fucky with damage-dealing powers which Sleep. Using Chilling Ray and Frozen Aura on my Ice/Willpower sentinel, I'm seeing the Sleep activate, but no damage dealt and no Miss message. I don't know if I'm missing and the Sleep is auto-hitting, or if I'm hitting but the damage is bugged. I don't like not knowing what's happening when I'm up to my ears in things trying to feast on my liver. -
Test server files are stored in a different directory from the live game files. The two directories don't interact. You have a test server directory set up somewhere. Locate it and manually copy the files over.

The developer quote used as a "/jranger without saying /jranger" was taken out of context. In context, @Faultline was responding to a request to make entire zones levelless. That quote, and I suspect the intent of it, doesn't apply to this suggestion, or in this context. Mysterious Gifts aren't zones. Winter Horde don't inhabit entire zones. This suggestion has a level of specificity which isn't addressed in @Faultline's post. He said they're not going to apply levelless code across the board. This is specific. One type of spawn, one category of critters, one method of spawning those critters. There's also no code argument to apply here. @Faultline states, in that very quote, that one of the methods of applying the flag is by spawn point. The spawn point is already defined as the Mysterious Gift, there's no digging, no untangling, no unnecessary drama to making the change. Flag the SpawnDef, done. If anything, it's an unintended argument for the suggestion, not against it, because it's already been stated to be possible. Entire zones is a no-go, but specific spawns during special events is already done with Nemesis, Rikti and Halloween critters, so Winter Horde are an exception to the norm. They can do it, and there's plenty of reason for them to do it. But it's up to them. I just brought it up, they have to decide whether it's worth their time.

P2W Vendor: Level 50 Ticket (Cost: 20 Million Influence)
Luminara replied to LightningDrone's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
When does the fake game start? I think one of my cats just horked on a fly. Looks like her game started when I wasn't looking. -
The right costume. The right name. Concept which fits and feeds into both. Feels good in combat (not necessarily devastating or untouchable, but capable, consistent and always in motion). Fluid attack chain. Legionette, my main (Staff/Willpower brute), isn't exceptional in appearance or performance. But she is exactly the Wonder Woman type of character I always wanted to play, but couldn't or didn't for various reasons. Willpower suits the concept I had so perfectly that I'd have suspected that it was designed specifically to meet my needs, if I had a towering ego. And I really do like the Staff attacks. I don't care if they aren't ZOMGSODAMAGEZ, I like them. Titanea, my Shield/Elec tank, might be a played out cliché for some, but I have a lot of fun playing her. She's big, burly and bad-ass, and the dual teleport AoE attacks are rather delightful to fire off. Winter's Grasp, my Ice/Willpower sentinel, was the surprise. I expected to finish the character and move on to the next alt. Instead, she's picked up more badges than Legionette, she's yellowing those Flashback missions and I'm still engaged when I'm playing her. I thought that would be my Archery/Energy sentinel, but here I am, plugging along with Winter's Grasp while the other one slowly gathers dust. I didn't pick my cats, they picked me. I didn't pick my favorite characters, they picked me.

I Love One Aspect of the Game, But Sometimes, I Hate It.
Luminara replied to RikOz's topic in General Discussion
I adore the freedom of movement provided by Combat Jumping. Decide to go left mid-jump? No problem! Changed your mind and want to go back the way you came from? Instant redirection! Scaling a tall building and need to bump forward and backward to hit the sills? Easy peasy dirty sleazy! I despise the finicky, spastic way I flop around when trying to stick a landing on a street light with Combat Jumping toggled on. I swear, anyone who has the misfortune to witness me doing that has to believe I'm having a seizure. -
P2W Vendor: Level 50 Ticket (Cost: 20 Million Influence)

Is it Wednesday again? Already? Wow. -
I collected all of the Winter Event badges (except Frozen Fury, the Winter Lord defeat badge, which i haven't attempted) with a Vigilante yesterday. Cold Warrior is 100 Winter Horde creatures defeated, it's listed under the Events category of the badge menu, look there, you should see a progress bar.

2x +0 Accuracy SOs plus unslotted Tactics puts all Beam Rifle attacks at 148.7% hit chance, except Disintegrate (which is at 155.8%) and Overcharge (198.3%), against +0 (white) critters. You're over the cap against +3 critters (101.5%/106.3%/135.3%). That's slightly above 50%, by my estimation. That said, there is a flaw in how hit rolls work. AoE attacks don't calculate hit rolls in concert with single-target attacks. You can miss a critter with a single-target attack, then miss it with an AoE, then miss it again with a single-target attack, and so on. Stick to single-target or AoE and that doesn't occur. In the future, when you're having a problem, state the issue calmly and without exaggeration. You'll find us to be a helpful and cordial lot if you follow that advice. You'll find us to be less so with claims like this. And I, personally, would appreciate it if you didn't give me a reason to give the mods a reason to slap my wrist. I try to deny them that pleasure, just to torment them.

Fixed. TA buffs not too long ago, so Ill/TA is even better now. Go for it.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon running around various zones with one of my level 50+ characters. Out of consideration, I went to level-appropriate zones initially, but discovered that almost none of the spawns were, in fact, level appropriate. Barring a couple of presents which spawned some 48's and 49's, all that shit conned grey to me. Presents in the Fab, grey-cons. Presents in north PI, grey-con. After one-shotting enough of them to get the Cold Warrior badge twice, I found myself wondering why I was bothering. No drops. No inf*. And not a population of 100,000 players sharing the same space, so no real concern of leaving a high level spawn that might decimate a lowbie. In other words, I realized there was absolutely no incentive to defeat those spawns. If they'd conned white, or even blue, I'd have continued to beat them down, just for the Candy Cane drops, but even that was off the table. Removing the Alpha Incarnate enhancement wouldn't have turned those wastes of time into something rewarding, either, so I gave up and adopted the "Fuck it, they'll despawn or someone else will deal with them" attitude, went to a lower level zone with a higher Mysterious Gift density with an easier collection route and went about the business of working on Toy Collector. With 200 presents to open for the Toy Collector badge, and only 100 critters required for the Cold Warrior, it's easy to acquire the badge before one is 1/3 of the way through Toy Collector, so there's no impetus provided on that front, either. As it stands, the game actively encourages players not to deal with those spawns by providing zero rewards while also offering identical foes, which do reward the player's investment of time, in Father Time's missions. Yeah, I became that asshole, at the event design's prompting to do so. "Don't bother with this crap, Lumi, just click and go." Winter Horde critters spawning from Mysterious Gifts need to spawn with no level, giving players a reason to defeat them (event drops, regular drops, inf*, XP), and not putting lowbies at serious risk of insta-gib if they stumble across abandoned spawns. And other players wouldn't feel like garbage collectors when they came across abandoned spawns, they'd get something for the time they spent cleaning them up. I'll probably be an asshole again later today, when I start working on the badges with my main. And again when I go after the badges on other characters. I don't want to, but that 2-3s I spend using an AoE/PBAoE, plus the travel suppression time, for 0 inf*, 0 drops, 0 badge progress, makes being an asshole the most viable option. That's not good design, and it really should be addressed.

@Aurora_Girl is an expert at taking dirt naps. If there's a floor, she'll find a way to kiss it. Frequently and with unholy glee. It's part of her charm.

Could the letterboxing have a "Disable" option added? Please? Letterboxing made sense when many players were using full frame displays, but the entire world has moved on to widescreen. And I'm really not that interested in gawking at Nemesis' codpiece while trapped in a cutscene.

Pulling with Nova might not be the optimal approach to every situation, AG. Just a thought.

The Reason "Master Of..." Trials Fail (It's the leader's fault)
Luminara replied to Forager's topic in General Discussion
Then ask questions. I have social anxiety disorder and I can ask for clarification when I feel it's necessary. Rather than point your finger at someone else and complain, speak up. Not doing so brings the blame full circle. "You decide your own level of involvement." - Tyler Durden -

They never sold out (i have no issue with artists who do. everyone needs to eat, everyone has dreams). They do what they want to do, when they want to do it, the way they choose. The down side of that is, despite exposure in films, television shows and video games, they're really only known through word of mouth. Their publisher isn't pushing their singles on radio stations, no deals worked out to get their albums mass attention, they just package the music and make it available for KT to sell on their website. I'm grateful just to have that much. Free's vocals and lyrics are perfectly complemented by Somers' production and instrumental work. If it takes them eight years between releases, that's fine, because whether it's magic or reality-bending science or sheer talent or plain dumb luck that they're capable of doing what they do, I want them to keep doing it forever, not blow it all in a few years and burn out permanently.

Member was a word people used to refer to a penis, without saying "penis", in the past. So we're all dicks now. Actually, we're all multiple dicks now. Bags of dicks. Members. Plural. Go ahead. Try to rinse that out of your brains. 🙂

A moment of hilarity and Lady Grey Hamidon
Luminara replied to DrunkFlux's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Apoptosis. Yes, it should affect the Hamidon. But we can presume Hamidon Pasalima was aware of apoptosis and specifically designed his creation without the necessary molecular triggers or pathways, giving it a sort of immortality. And, extending the presumption, he also must've known that it would not be invulnerable to external trauma, so keeping the mitos "alive" once the primary structure was destroyed would allow him to extend that immortality through reproduction (by giving the mitos the capability to grow into new Hamidons). Of course, that would require the mitos to have some means of communication in order to control the population of Hamidons (multiple Hamidons would lead to conflict over resources), which could be discovered and exploited in some way... but not in this game (sadly). -
Didn't we go through this when Steam proved successful? All of the major game publishers came out with their own platforms, and they were either horrible or packed with crap except for one or two games, so the publishers eventually went back to selling on Steam simply because their own platforms proved to be unpopular and unprofitable? We can send probes out of our solar system, we can create antimatter, but we can't learn from our failures, apparently. None. I have a 15Gb/month data limit. No point spending money on a streaming service I'd only be able to use for about six hours out of each month, especially since that would make everything else I do online a test of my patience (throttled data rates tend to be worse than 56Kbps dial-up).
