  1. I have a bio for a character before they enter THE CITY. Heck, I have a bio for a character planned out even before I start making character. As for Mids, that isn't happening. Each of my characters is unique and I really have to have done something wrong to respec. I think I have repec'd less than 5 times since I've been back in THE CITY. I figure if something was a little off, that's just part how that character developed. If the name of the character is unique enough, you won't have to bother to make sure to log at any rate. It doesn't remove the name, it just lets those creating new characters get the name if it is on on their hot picks list or someone randoms it.
  2. I have over 128 at this point. I don't power-level. I only have like 2 or 3 50s at this point. This policy will have little to no impact on me. If they would have kept the 2nd tier to level 20-?, the only impact would have been that I would likely level up some of my sub 20s. I keep some sub 20's to lead DFBs for new characters. I kind of feel a bit weird about leading them with a character that is over 20, but I know that it is good for the game to support low level characters (regardless of them being new players or not). I really don't do enough low level mission team leading. I need to get better at that.
  3. This is not entirely true. Someone that power-levels to 50 by doorsitting (and not playing the game to get there) feels a sense of superiority of those that are not level 50. Often times I have seen the bad behavior of level 50s that were most probably power-leveled to 50. People that have actually leveled to 50 know what it is like to be leveling up a character through lower level content. They know what it is like to have someone that is 50 come in and ruin the enjoyability of lower level missions. And that happens far too often. I don't farm, but make a huge amount of influence off farmers. I can't stop them from farming. They can't stop me from taking their influence from them. I'm not spamming in /LFG all day that I'm taking their influence from them, but I sure have to see all that Farm and doorsitter spam.
  4. The AE isn't the game. The AE was added to the game. The standard for rewards should be the reward level set in the standard game content and not based on Fire Farming. And AE content is obviously surpassing the rewards gained for standard game content and that's why the rewards for AE need to be reduced for AE content that is built to abuse the system. And that is exactly what Farming in the AE is has been the whole time - creating and running missions to gain better rewards than the AE was intended to reward.
  5. Back during the late 2000/early 2010's Recession when I couldn't find decent employment due to deciding to change jobs at absolutely the wrong time, I came to a point where my computer said it was find to upgrade to Windows 10 both by Toshiba and by Microsoft. After three times of installing Windows 10, Windows 10 crashing completely, reinstalling Windows 8, reinstalling Windows 8.1, and reinstalling Windows again both Toshiba and Microsoft posted that my computer was not compatible with Windows 10. I had to reinstall Windows 8 and reinstall Windows 8.1 another 3 or 4 times. I had to replace the hard drive and reinstall again in order to get the computer working, by that time the process had somehow damaged my graphics card so I could no longer play the game that I was playing at the time. It took me like 6 months to save up enough money to get a computer so I could play the game again. Ended up playing some other less graphic intensive games in the meantime. So yeah, I have been there, but I try to log my characters up to 20 most of the time before they go into rotation. I do have a handful that are sub 20, but, hey, I'm an Altoholic. I play the 100+ characters I have as I have a whim for it. Some of my sub 20's at this point are for my Origin Quest project. ... and it's getting to a slogging phase even around level 10 for those 5 characters, but It wouldn't have been a hassle to log that handful (well maybe 2 handfuls) of characters that I have that are sub 20, and I may have leveled some of them up to 20 to avoid the hassle when that was still the base for 365 days. Is it name squatting to make some many characters? I don't think so. we have 1000 slots. I'm not putting my name on a character just to seize control of the name. I'm making characters that I play when I get the whim or if they are in rotation. Some characters get more play than others because I often get on a project with a friend and stick with a character from level 1 to level 50. At level 50 is when my characters go into the storage closet, but level 50's always get to keep their names. Somehow that is ironic to me.
  6. I guess you need to level them up to 6 in case of a 31 day emergency .... if you think that is likely.
  7. yeah, looks like, I have no idea how that happened I did the select text and hit on the quote selection. I'll see if I can fix it must have quoted it out of your post instead of their original post
  8. There is a way. Level the character up to 50. Though it is not making the exempt, it resets the timer if you log the character in. Currently, the plan is Level 1-5 characters will be flagged as inactive if they have not been played in the last 30 days. Level 6-49 characters will be flagged as inactive if they have not been played in the last 365 days. Your name will never become available for replacement if you haven't played them in 2 weeks. 30 days is the shortest amount of time and that is only to level 5. Level them up to 6 and you will have a whole year to log them in.
  9. This seems to be stalking to me. I guess the user being repeatedly contacted about their character name should have reporting it. But perhaps, they haven't been playing ... or simply put you on ignore.
  10. I strongly suggest adding this to the patch notes and in whatever kind of global message is posted when the the page is released.
  11. I have heard of these so-called Ebil Marketeers, but surely they are just some sort of myth.
  12. I won't condemn you for the Dr Aeon arc, but I'm not likely to play it again. Thanks for all that you do. I really do enjoy being back in THE CITY. If you would like me to play more of the content you create, you will need to add it to the lower level content. Part of the issue is visual spam from powers. The higher the level, the more screen-filling power effects. I can't see what I'm fighting. And /macro fx0 "noparticles 1" and /macro fx1 "noparticles 0" don't fix all the visual issues. That isn't enjoyable to me. The incarnate system is aggravating, but I will admit that some of that aggravation is still from the way it was inserted into the game as a money grab before the Sunset. I think I can honestly say, to Dr Aeon, "Never again!" But it is great to be back in the streets of Paragon City.
  13. It is a scale thing. I wander into the PVP zones occasionally, but I'm not going out of my way to PvP in PVP zones. The Arena is pretty much garbage. Always has been. When this goes live, I might go to the PvP zones from time to time, but it is highly doubtful that I'm going to make a Temporal Warrior. If they are there, then I'm less likely to go there. If I could pick a ready-made I would be likely to go there more often, which would still be almost never. So no, the discussion thread isn't proof of how many players will participate on a regular basis in game. There are only 4 pages of comments and I know that I'm several of those posts.
  14. I would tell the DEVs to keep their masks on. Yep. I doubt that any DEV is working dozens of hours a week. I'm very glad for what they are doing. I'm very satisfied with Homecoming in general. I think the incentive is that the DEVs and GMs truly love the game, they know that other people love the game, and they want to provide the ability for us to enjoy the game together. The players (DEVs and GMs may be included) pay the funds to make the game accessible to all of us. I don't think they are worried about attracting players. I don't think they should be worried about it. let me zero in on this bit ... Because I don't want to play end-game content because I don't enjoy it. I fully understand that some amount well over 50% of the characters on-line at any given point are level 50. So yeah, I'm not worried about being in or, for the most part, gaming with the "biggest pool" of players that currently play Homecoming. I understand your point is about population size in general. I rarely play on Excelsior. Because they believe that they are doing things that will make the game more enjoyable. Wow. Well, at least that finished on a good note. I wasn't sure where you were going.
  15. That's great. I'm glad that sub-50 AE arcs are encouraged. You didn't get lucky, it was your skill in writing the missions and being willing to post to get them acknowledged. In no way do I begrudge you that, I keep my mask on so it limits my operations at some points and this is one of them. So this proves a point that it was acknowledged as a good arc by the DEVs. That is one thing and the other are they actually being played? You could still write, post, and get DEV accreditation for level 20 arcs even if only level 50's can have access to the AE. Why would a level 50 play them? Same reason they would play Oroborus mission arcs. Veering off is good. I would hope at some point that DEVs Choices could be moved into the actual game. Yours looks like a good example of the kind of thing that could be added into the game directly instead of random players finding it through the AE or by reading about it in the forums. Even if what you state is 100 % accurate - which I say it isn't, but that's descending into "She said/He said" - so what? I'm confused about your comment about accuracy in my statement. Are you saying that I don't post arcs? I think I have 3 up at this point. I have about 8 in various stages of being completed. Some of which just need to be updated from before the Sunset. I think I have had one commented on. I can't tell by ticket count how many of played the missions that I posted, but I would have to say not many. You should have an idea by the ticket count and comments if anyone is playing them. In my experience, most AE play tends to be done by the mission creator recruiting for players to run their missions the same way that one would get a team to run any other kind of content. I have run into 1 player publicly announcing that they were looking for people to run their arc in the /LFG channel, so well over 99% of the /LFG chat that I see for AE is Farming in general or doorsitters. In no way was my comment above descending into "She said/He said". You didn't reply into regard to how much traffic your missions get, and I haven't refuted your claims. There is no need to be defensive. The DEVs are seeing this. Some other players may be reading this. It is getting the situation out in the open which is the whole point. I actually don't understand this statement. Please break it down for me. Your point is a very rational reason that one could take to only allow AE access to level 50s. From your reply, you seem to have posted your comment with all sincerity. You have to understand that the people that want to continue abusing the AE are going to 1) always think that it is okay and 2) are going to find ways to defend the power-leveling. Myself, I find powerleveling in the AE different than power-leveling that occurs by level 50's say in police scanner missions in Peregrine Island. AE farming power-leveling is based on players building missions to abuse the system to reap rewards. Running police scanner missions can also level you quickly, but players are generally fighting targets that they have to defeat in a fair fight ... that isn't to say that they aren't picking and choosing the enemy type, but it is a limited choice and one that the DEVs worked into the game. Maybe you see where I'm coming from and maybe you don't. I wish the DEVs had stuck to their guns when the AE first came out. It would have taken policing efforts and/or a lot more coding to catch balancing issues. I know that the Homecoming DEVs don't have time for the policing efforts, so any abuse of the system would have to be handled through coding to catch balancing issues. AE Farming is ingrained in many as the way to play the AE and game in THE CITY in general. Honestly, that is one of the main factors that drove me to stop subscribing to City of Heroes almost exactly a year before the Sunset. My stance has nothing to you with you, and I'm sorry that you would experience collateral damage if my suggestion would ever happen. The Farmers and power-levelers all think it won't happen. I'm seeing changes and sometimes someone has to throw the bone out there to see who pounces on it. I would love to be able to go into the AE and pick any mission and not find myself in a farm. I can go in there and check out the DEVs choices, but all the farming stuff has kind of soured me on the AE quite a bit. I could ask the DEVs for more AE slots to post more of my non-farming AE missions, but I honestly feel like "what's the point?" I'm glad that you are sticking with it, keep on making honest story missions that other players might end up playing. I really used to think creating AE missions was a lot of fun.
  16. If they were fine with characters getting power-leveled to 50, they wouldn't be taking the AE out of Atlas, or maybe it is only certain players they are trying to discourage from power-leveling. Removal of AE from Atlas is a thing. I have zero reason to lie to you.
  17. I write them to, but how many players have played them? Only ones that you take along with you? I mean be honest about it. I don't want to say it sounds like a power-leveling defense, but it sounds like a power-leveling defense. Are your level 20 missions DEV Choice missions?
  18. You can say what you want, but you aren't a DEV. If they wanted to say it to me they could.
