issue 27 Focused Feedback: Sheathed Weapon System
UltraAlt replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I could figure it would be a bass for the battle axe, but apparently I had hear the term "axe" used to mean bass in the past when that wasn't the proper historical reference. El Kabong uses it like a club which I would figure would be more mace than axe. I mean that is more smashing then lethal damage! But, honestly, I have been looking for it more as a backpack cosmetic then a weapon really. But I couldn't resist the El Kabong .. -
I always assume that as long as it isn't a personal attack. I understood that as well, but some people are hunting for names and may be trying that name everyday once this goes into effect because they feel that that name is their name. The ones most likely to do this will most probably immediately power-level that character to 50 so that they never lose it. I'm sure that some are worried about this. I'm not one of them, but that means to be made clear :: Warning: Your character is now tagged for possible renaming. Login prevent others from taking this character's name or something like that will fit in the warning message area on the character list. The Renaming thing has been a contentious thing all along. The percentage of the player base that is for causing the renaming of other player's characters so that they can take them is very small from what I can tell. I would think that this would be better targeted at inactive accounts and would "unlock" the names of all characters including level 50's. I, however, know that this has already proceeded too far in development and that going that route might not have been possible at any rate. The Renaming Policy won't affect me. I basically go through all my character list pages on all servers usually at least once per week, so really this is going to have no impact on me other than needing to log into a character when I see the warning. I'm just trying to look out for other players. Do I actually play all my characters (more than simply logging in or doing some marketing standing in the same spot) every year? No. Honestly, I don't think that I do, but I do try to cycle through my characters, because that's what give the game longevity to me. I'm at 128 characters at this point.

issue 27 Focused Feedback: City Zone Adjustments
UltraAlt replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Well, if it has a SG portal, shouldn't it be on the list when you blue-hand a sg portal? I'm mean... I figure that is where most people would go to access a base and, if Fort Trident is a base for people that don't have a supergroup, ... -

There aren't any that I know of. It was a joke at any rate. But I kinda would like a guitar that I could wear on my back. -

Now if I could get that mace customization .... -
So if I understand this correctly, if you power-level to level 50 and park it, then you don't have to have your name taken away ... ever. But if you play a character for for 100 hours and you park it long enough, the name can be taken away? Is the intent to promote people to power-leveling characters to 50? It seems that plenty of people are doing that already.

The one that fits best with your character conception. I tend to go with Super Reflexes or Ninjitsu with Katana, but that is because I'm making ninja characters. Ninjitsu has the Stealth component build in, so i don't have to use the stealth pool if I go that route.

Don't worry. You are just channeling Jack Kirby. Nothing wrong with that. I would suggest electric or water. I could see a Banshee with sonic/storm powers or some kind of Winter World creature with Ice/Storm powers. Heck, When it came down to it, I could make up some excuse for anything ... I think it would be pushing it for an archery, assault rifle, beam rifle, or dual pistols mixed with storm.

Why does every TF have to be a +0 snooze fest?

I understand it is a personal comment about your experience which greatly differs from mine. -
Why does every TF have to be a +0 snooze fest?

I haven't had that problem on Posi 1, Posi 2 or Citadel recently as far as I can recall, or maybe I was just lucky. -

UltraAlt replied to FungalGrowth's topic in General Discussion
Yep. That is what you said. And I already made my reply to that. With a character that is below level 50 or a character that is level 50? Thanks for agreeing with the OP and myself. That is not always true, and I think you know that. In fact, that is the OP's point that they aren't getting the XP that they would like because people are setting missions low and stealthing so that they can rush through things. So your point isn't correct in the situation relevant to the OP's thread starting post. -

Well, we know who is ruining the fun. Level 50's that most likely were power-leveled to 50. They only run tasks forces for the merits. That is why they are bulldozing/speedrunning through them. Some people do recruit for XP task force runs. You might even ask before you join if it will be an XP run or not. The lower the number of the people on the team, the more likely you are to hopefully get the leader to agree for it to be a leveling/XP team versus speed run. Once group gets going, make sure to bring it up. Especially if someone starts stealthing stuff. Best bet is always to recruit for your own task forces and say upfront in the LFG channel that you are recruiting for an XP taskforce. Now you have the star. The team fills. Someone says, "Give the start to a level 50". DON"T DO IT! You to took the time to recruit. You are the leader. Don't bow down to intimidation. It's your team. Make it clear once everyone is there that you are running an XP task force and it is NOT as speed run. So when some 50 starts to stealth stuff, you can give them a warning if you want ... or you can just boot them ... you already did warn them. Some 50's simply don't think anyone has the courage to boot them. I suggest not only booting them, but putting them on /ignore. YOu won't have to hear their whining and the next time they send you tells to join your XP task force, you won't get their tells. Which means you can fill your team with players that aren't planning on trying to ruin your task force. And I'll tell you the obvious secret that is no secret. Almost everyone is looking to join a team. Almost everyone is scared to lead a team. So how does that factor? Recruit and people will join because the do want to team up. Sure there are slow times, but, seriously, don't be afraid of the start. If you want to be on a team and there isn't one, then start recruiting, It is rare that I'm on a task force that is set at zero, if someone asks, I always say +2. Most tasks forces tha I join and recruit for run on +2. I don't run level 50 content. If the team can't take +2, I usually turn it down. I tend to put the last mission on 0 because I tend to get newer players on my teams and the last mission is a task force is the most difficult. As far as I know, they fixed that. What task force have you been on lately where that was happening? So here is my point about level 50's proven. They are only in the task forces for the merits because they are level 50. Honestly, many of them could care less that you are trying to level up. They are 50, and it seems quite often that means that they think they are better than you and your sub level 50 character .... even if they were powerlevel-ed to 50. This is really a huge problem. There is a fairly sizable amount of the community that only plays the end-game (the actual game that goes from level 1-49 and the end-game that is played by those that are level 50) and only slums game-content to get merit rewards. There are still a good number of us that like playing the game or, as level 50 end-gamers might want to call it, the "leveling" content. To me, the leveling and building characters is the most fun. Honestly, when it gets up to the high 30's and into the 40s the game isn't much fun to me and I pretty much hate end-game content. End-game content isn't enjoyable to me on multiple levels. So what it really comes down to is if you want to enjoy the non-endgame content then do your best to avoid level 50's. Either they want to take control of your team or they want to prove how cool they are in one way or another. They might just run off in a mission and kill stuff on their own to prove that they are better than the rest of the team. I mean if they are examplared down they still have powers that are levels higher than the content they are in. And this is a level 50's attitude toward other players that they don't know. Most PUGs that I have been on are very competent. It may take time for the team to gel, but, once they figure out how to work with each other, things start moving very smoothly. Honestly, the whiners on task forces are usually the 50's that were dropped down to a lower level than they wanted to be because I wouldn't give them the star. They are the ones that can't deal with the content and not the lower level players on the team. The problem that most 50 are used to soloing with a bunch of people that are soloing and they just happen to be on a team together. The lower level content and characters works much better when players on a team actually team-up and work with one another. I'm not sure what setting you are trying for, but I generally don't have problems having successful PUGS at +2. Don't fear the star. Don't give up the star if you have spend time recruiting for YOUR team. IF the 50 doesn't like it, they can take a hike. -

My Forever Scrapper Contest (part 1b of 4, Scrapper Secondaries)!
UltraAlt replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in Scrapper
I have it on a Sentinel with energy aura. And I enjoy playing it on that character conception player and an alt-jumper. I dug through my spreadsheet until I found that I did have a scrapper with Energy Aura. They are Titan Weapon/Energy aura. I haven't played them for a while and that is more based on the teams that I'm on more than anything else. (well my Origins Quest project is slowing me down and limited to 5 characters quite often these days) But you have show me why energy armor would be one of the top picks. Could make her daughter, sister or mother? I mean if you are sticking with one gender. ... but you could always go with two versions of the same character ... like Jesse Quick ... ... she has both her mother's Liberty Belle powers and her father Jesse Quick's super speed mantra. I have to admit. I have a character in CoH like this, and I had to make two different character to be able to cover the powers. They have the same civilian costume, but two different "super" costumes just like Jesse Quick above. ....errrr... and you know, sometime I duplicate across servers, so the two versions of that character show up on more than one server. -

I'm honestly surprised at how high Bio Armor and Energy Aura are on the list. I mean very few like the graphics on Bio Armor but I guess Adaption is kind of fun to use. -
If you could make a new Enhancement type, what would it be?
UltraAlt replied to Draeth Darkstar's topic in General Discussion
Unless they saying 25-50 generic things you would really be giving the DEVs a work out, and that enhancement would really annoy the heck out of the rest of the team pretty quickly. "I think we are going to have to kick Sir-Makes-Them-Talk. Can anyone else see what is going on through all the word balloons? And why are Devouring Earth talking about taking a coffee break anyway?" -

Make sure to six slot your lower tier leadership pool powers as early as possible and level lock them. -

There is a cap on accuracy. Adding more accuracy doesn't increase that cap, but it protects it against some debuffing. This is the same way that have a large AoE area would help insure you can reach the target cap. The range does not increase your damage nor does it increase the target cap. It in increases your range only; in no way does that increase your damage. You're not making sense. You are simply arguing with me at this point.
