  1. So I'm trying to follow the origin arcs. Since being back on Homecoming, I've tended to DFB to 8, Posi 1, Posi 2 ... and that gets me close to or near 20 when I'll run a Penelope Yin taskforce, so I generally haven't been running door missions until like level 18 or something. Depending on the character or my mood, I have headed to the Hollows to run door missions there after 2 DFB runs. I figured I would check out the lower level arcs to see how they are still connected. I'm running them on flat so I don't out-level the contacts and I'm even going to turn-off XP if it looks like I'm going to outlevel contacts. I'm going to update the post above as I head through this. I'm not in a big rush to do it, and it is a bit time consuming soloing it. I think I'll probably try to recruit once I've turned-off XP. I don't want to get distracted and forget to turn-off XP and outlevel a contact.
  2. This is an ongoing post, and it is updated as my characters level, and I find more information about the 5 Origin arcs. The character of each origin is only playing their Origin's content, run missions on flat, and are level locked if they approach the max level of a contact without completing their arc. ---------science-----------*------------tech------------*-----------mutant-----------*-----------natural-----------*-----------magic--------- +Jonathan St John Smythe4 +Rick Davies4 +Prince Kiros Nandelu4 +Susan Davies4 +Azuria4 ----------------------------next level of contacts doesn't unlock until you reach level 5--------------------------- +Samuel Pierce9 +Tony Kord9 +Ron Hughes9 +Vic Johansson9 +Genevieve Sanders9 (Vahzilok) (clocks) (Skulls) (Lost) (Hellions/CoT) Ron Hughes/ +Vic Johnson9/ +Samuel Pierce9/ Paco Sanchez9/ +Ron Hughes/ (Skulls)/ (Lost)/ (Vazilok)/ (CoT)/ (Skulls)/ +Det. After you complete the first mission for a 5-9 contact, they give you the option to select one of two other 5-9 contacts. The only contact that has really caused a level issue so far is Vic Johansson due to Lost hunts in his arc. My natural character will need to run some of Tony Kord's missions to level up enough to take on some Lost on the streets. These are two different origin contacts different from your character's origin. After you complete a mission for that 2nd 5-9 contact, you are offered a selection of 2 more contacts. I'm not selecting any of these, as these are the the last two of the 5 origins and directly opposed to the characters origin (eg magic versus science/tech) I reduced the font size of the 2nd tier contacts that are given as they are alternate contacts from another origin. Now that I'm sure those middle level range contacts are not related to the character's original origin, I'm not taking them during the leveling process and running police missions or DFBs to level up when hunt missions put my characters up against enemies that are more than 2 levels above them. 10-14 contacts Science remains opposed to the Vazilok. Tech she keeps you fighting the Clocks, but Carla Burnelli won't give you missions until level 10! Mutant Origin track swipes Lost from the Natural Origin, but continues to fight the Skulls as well. Natural Origin loses the Lost to move to the Council. Magic remains fighting the Hellions and COT. 15-19 contacts Science Now fighting Clocks and Trolls. I had thought that the Dr Vazh arc was gone because I couldn't find it under a Science contact. [I have run the Defeat Dr Vazh mission twice the last month (should have entered which month sorry) with other characters. One of them said that the mission was given to them by Olivia Chung I had assumed this was a Science contact, but she is a Mutation contact]. Arc just ends kind of abruptly. Nothing impressive. Tech continues with Clocks, but Lost are added to the mix. At Level 18, contact stopped giving missions (more mission arc visible contact) and only wants to get you to talk to contacts that aren't Tech origin. At level 19, the tech origin contact still only offers contacts. I picked a contact and the tech origin contact when to Inactive. No end of arc. No Boss to fight. It looks like this contacts arc was gutted in issue 8. Fareed Abdullah is a level 15-19 contact, so I shouldn't have out leveled them at level 18 or 19. I'm assuming he will offer me another tech contact once the character hits level 20. Mutant in a surprise twist (see Science above), the Vazh become the target of the Mutation origin arc. Julianna Nehring has the same story arcs at Olivia Chung, so this character should get the Dr Vazh mission at the end of the arc. The mutation character contracted the Vahzilok Wasting Disease https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Vahzilok_Wasting_Disease and is definitely going to be facing Dr Vahzilok within the next mission or two. Character has the mission to defeat Dr Vazh at level 16. Natural continues fighting the Council.] Contact won't give the character another mission until level 19. Magic remains fighting COT, but Hellions are replaced by Tsoo. End arc boss is Mr Po. Given by level 16. 20-24 contacts The lines between origins start to blur at this point ... or was that when the Vazh stopped being a Science enemy and move to being a Mutant enemy?! Science now battles Sky Raiders and Lost. Tech switches to Freaks, Family, and Tsoo. I had to level the character to 25 before this contact would give me the next Tech contact. Mutant ,now that the Vazh are taken care of, it's on to Banished Pantheon, Family, Tsoo, and Warriors. Mostly Tsoo and Warrior who are having a gang war. Natural started off fighting Sky Raiders and then turned to fighting Council. Nothing special on this arc. Magic continues battling the CoT and Tsoo, but now take on the Banished Pantheon as well as the Family and Warriors. 25-29 contacts Science Two hunts that can be done in Talos. Three hunts back to back against massive mob sizes because they are in Terra Volta which is a Hazard Zone. Then, luckly, it changes to door missions. Tech Continues with Freaks and Family and adds Council and Sky Raiders Mutant Natural Still fighting Sky Raiders but the Council are out of the picture. Nemesis, The Family, and the Lost are added to the mix. Magic nothing really exciting to write home about; accept this mission ".... The Banished Pantheon are a plague on the city, and Dark Astoria is one of the places they've hit hardest. Be careful, and take the fight back to them."; yeah, better be careful because it is a level 50-54 zone now! Mostly Banished Pantheon and CoT fights. No big boss battle end of arc. It kind of just peters out. Missions are getting longer because it takes more XP to level level locked just before 29 until contact wouldn't provide any more missions. It look about 7 (I think) radio missions and a safeguard to hit 30. New contact given at level 30. 30-34 contacts Science Tech Mutant Natural Magic
  3. Perhaps switch to a scrapper with hasten? If you can't pull enough agro with challenge get the presence power set :: Provoke in order to taunt more. You won't be a damage sponge but you will have more buttons to push for your adhd. or you could try the other kind of "tank" a Storm/Electric defender would probably do well with your adhd. You might even want to go for an Empathy/radiation blast. Not tank at all, but you are a damage sponge in reverse. Instead of soaking damage, you are providing HPs to your teammates and that can get really click intensive trying to keep up with healing everyone. Not so much "Hulk smash" but it might keep your attention more.
  4. here's a thought. Make one of several different kinds and see what you enjoy playing. I would always suggest building any character upon character conception. Why is your character in Paragon City? How did they get their powers? Why do they have the kinds of powers that they have? What would make them fun for you to play? I mean, really, you can struggle to make a cookie-cutter OP tank, but, if you don't enjoy playing it (because you don't feel a connection to the character), is the fun really only about being the cookie-cutter OP tank? You can make more characters then you will ever have a chance to play. Make a bunch and see what you like best. Some of the sets/builds that don't mathematically yield the highest numbers can be way more fun to play than the cookie-cutter OP one.
  5. FTW!
  6. I don't bother memorizing them. Whatever the character is specializing in has the ingredients in a list in the bought tray and I just hit "find" and then buy however much I need of that ingredient. I never remove the initial seed ingredients list for each specialized item from the bought list. it's always there to "find" from. I don't even memorize the pricing. I have a spreadsheet for that. It's always a great feeling when you stumble upon something that has been there but you really never really needed it in order to succeed, but it is even better when you have really been frustrated about something and you finally uncover that that thing that makes everything that you have been trying to do ten times easier.
  7. start putting those people on ignore and pretty soon you won't have to worry about them any more. Someone wants a friend to join? tell them to have their friend send you a tell. if you don't get the message, you just saved yourself the hassle.
  8. Yes. I love a PUG. I have very few people that I game with consistently. So if I'm doing a task force, I'm always in a PUG. If I join or if I recruit it is a PUG. I PUGed mostly before the sunset. PUGs are great because you never know the mix of characters that are going to be on the team. Sometimes they go bad, but, more often than not, people figure out what is going on, the group gels, and everything runs smoothly. There are times when it doesn't because people rush in too much. More times than not, a PUG gets ruined by someone that decides it's their job to make it a speed task force or wants to tell other people what to do. It's always important when recruiting to make it clear what kind of task force you are recruiting for. Is it an XP taskforce? Is it a speed taskforce? Do you want to have a lot of knockback on the team? If you are joining a task force, you can always ask. And I guess it is always good to point out that you may be playing with someone that is 5 years old. They may not even be the ones that keep falling in battle. They just might not be chatting so much. If you are the one that knowledgeable about the game, you should be able to figure out how to help the players that are having issues through assisting them without needing to tell them what to do. If you don't like PUGs, it's easy enough to avoid them.

  10. That doesn't work as well as the noparticles command. I couldn't even tell when it was supposed to be suppressing. I doubt that will help. noparticles help with the particles. I would go that route on the particles, because sometimes you will want to have them and other times you might want to see the particles. For example, if you turn particles off, you can't see base portals or the thing you need to click on for using an O-portal (you can see the rest of the O-portal though!). /macro Off "noparticles 1"/macro On "noparticles 0" I don't know of a command that can change the brightness of other players costume/power colors.
  11. Do they know about the noparticles command and does that help them at all? /macro Off "noparticles 1" /macro On "noparticles 0" First one turns the particles off. 2nd turns the particles back on. You have to rezone most of the time in order for the particles to turn entirely back on. But you don't have to zone for the full particle "off" to activate. It doesn't cover everything and it definitely doesn't cutdown on the brightness but it does make the screen far less busy ... on higher level teams you can actually see the enemies during a fight!
  12. That wasn't the excuse. There were alot of people street sweeping. I lead full teams doing it. Problem was simple. instances could be contained and limited the amount of drain on the servers by limiting the number of people involved that Servers had to keep track of. Street sweeping meant that a number of characters equal to the amount of load that instance of the zone could carry would be running around fighting things and the servers would have to keep track of all of it. My only guess is that a zone must have more enemies to fight than a Hami raid. However, that doesn't stand up for a Mothership Raid or the Rikti war zone in general. Saving citizens gaining progress toward leveled badges (Like Mentoring) makes more sense to me. I kind of consider the Exploration Tips to be motivation to street sweep. The open world is set as it is. How is the game going to determine the mob size for your team and not have that affect the the other teams in the zone? Hazard zones already yield more xp due to the mob size. So street sweep and don't care how much xp it gives you. I'll join you if I see you yell out for a street sweeping team in LFG and I'm not otherwize preoccupied/not in game. I'm sure others will as well. And I would suggesting running the teams explore tips as they rolled in as well. Street Sweeping Exploration Badge team LF#M
  13. Yes. I understand, but it isn't mine. I wouldn't presume to put a link to it on the wiki myself without the permission of the creator. Well, my own personal spreadsheets are hidden, but I don't have a base spreadsheet. These links are to the Homecoming Wiki https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Everlasting_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Torchbearer_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Excelsior_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Reunion_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Reunion_Base_List They are all added in html to the web pages individually. Since there is someone that apparently has a composite base list, I thought maybe they might want to think about posting a link to it on the wiki. I would put it on the https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Supergroup_Base page as the other pages are for the individual servers, but, if I'm understanding correctly, the one used here is for all the servers. It would be cross-referencing I guess, but I don't think that's a bad thing. There are probably bases listed on the wiki that aren't on the spreadsheet, and I'm pretty sure there are a ton of base not listed on the wiki website. You have to register (separate from homecoming) and the it works like the wikipedia. You can add notes/discuss or you can write the html on the page to add what you want. It is the official Homecoming wiki, so it is Homecoming relevant. In my experience, it seems like 75% or more players only go to forms to register to get into a game or to ask questions. /help cuts down on the need to go to the forms to ask many questions, so that seems to also narrow down the numbers that go to the Homecoming forums. I used to think that City of Heroes had a larger percentage turnout to the forums than other games. I'm not sure about Homecoming at this point. Some people are too busy playing to bother coming to the forums which is a shame. I visit the forums everytime I play, but I don't get into all of the forum areas or subforum areas, so I tend to see things I'm setup to look for or if I see something new posted within the last 20-30 post that might interest me or I think I can help with. I build bases, but I like to keep my mask on, so I don't post about them. That being said, I know you have some great videos, but I just haven't had time to go look at them even though probably should. I already have like 8-10 bases built and they do what I need them to do, and I'm not trying to compete to be a great base builder like some of the players here (which do excellent work that I have taken time to visit on occasion). Yeah. That really is the key and the same thing with navigating the forums. I try to point people to the wiki when I'm /help-ing to try to give them the tool so they can empower themselves. For basic game stuff, the search function over here gets you more directly to what you are looking for most of the time. Having the wiki cross-reference/link to the forums seems to be a good way to complete the information circuit.
  14. Day Job Recruiter in Atlas City Hall is giving old info on the Day Job Badges. Example :: Day Trader: Log out in Wentworths and for a limited time you will be granted a device that can quickly teleport you to an Auction House.
  15. The wiki doesn't get much love ... https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Supergroup_Base Open Player Made Base Listing Listings of bases by shard intended for open use by the public, with entry passcodes. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Everlasting_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Torchbearer_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Excelsior_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Reunion_Base_List https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Reunion_Base_List Maybe whatever spreadsheet is being used here could be linked there?
  16. Unfortunately, no Library storage was ever created for bases. However, you can email the recipes to yourself if you want to move them from one character or another. Set-up a email addressed to your global. Open the Recipe Window. Drag the recipe you want into the little square box [Attachment] in the email. Make sure to add a title if there isn't one and at least an "x" in the message area. I email myself an email with the title "Transfer" and then forward that to myself. This way, I just have to hit reply to that to send something. Little trick, after you hit reply, you can clear the title field. Then when you drop something into the [Attachment] box, the name of that item will then be the title of he email. You can store some this way, but Dacy method allows you to store many more than you will be able to store in email, but like Dacy said ....
  17. I'm not that choosey. Give me whatever powers, and I'll make do. It would depend upon the power sets and AT that I was gifted with. But I wouldn't be using my powers to rob banks or wantonly to cause carnage. Once again, I would enjoy having any of them, but, I must say, that flight often seems to be the best pick for several reasons. I personally really like super leap, but that's practically flying these days when used for actual travel purposes.
  18. Well, can we see some screen shots of what THE CITY looks like to you, Doc?
