  1. I just quit out of homecoming (because my badgesetlist popmenu wasn't working), relaunched the city mod installer, clicked add to launcher, chose HC Launcher, then closed it and tried to relaunch homecoming to get this: any ideas? verifying files didn't seem to stop the error. HEEEYYY I FIXED IT! If this happens to you just uninstall and reinstall the vidiotmaps mod in the mod manager.
  2. As SeraphimKensai mentioned the teleport to mouse cursor effect is very useful. The Warshade build I use binds it to shift+lbutton so that all I have to do is press shift and then left click where I want to go. This does have the strange side effect of occasionally having to teleport twice because just hitting shift starts the cast, but as long as you remember to lift the shift key before clicking you should be good.
  3. I found myself with that problem with teleport, and then I played a warshade, and got its bindings set up - someone had created a bind for shift-left click to teleport, and I was like... "huh." And on that character I used it all. the. time. If you haven't tried it, see if the MF'n Warshade build helps you out with remembering that. 😉
  4. One of my absolute favorites, found this completely by accident. You can only see this if you screw up a mission. This one is also accidental. Thanks to my character's name, Twinshot made a clever pun.
  5. I have a cow-themed character named "The Smell of Barbeque," he's a fire/kin controller.
  6. Attempting to install new client, I get this: any ideas what this means? (I read the thread first)
  7. Chatting with some people on the discord, I joked about the name Dodge This, and wondered out loud if it was available, and someone said "Not any more!" but lo and behold, an hour later, I snagged the name. I like all my character names though. If I can't come up with something good I don't even bother making the character!
  8. Awesome costumes all around. Going to acknowledge that the costume of that rulebreaker does look cool, not surprised they were selected as a runner up before being disqualified. Would be nice to have those pieces available to us someday.
  9. The problem with a hybrid armor/melee powerset is that the armor powersets have their armor already split into multiple parts for balance purposes and practicality. you usually have your generic armors (smashing lethal etc) in one armor, you have some more exotic (heat cold energy etc) in another, and then maybe you have the status effect armor in a third power. then there might be an aoe taunt + damage or status effect, a couple passives, and that leaves you maybe three slots for attacks, and that's if you remove the heals, the resist or status condition defense boosters, and the activatable powers or rezzes. If you combine some of those together you instantly make that version of the powerset a lot more appealing than the other armor sets. If you strip some away, you might make the powerset completely useless by denying it a critical resist or function. That being said it would be really cool to have some sort of elemental pets to go along with fiery aura or ice armor. You could cram 3 elemental melee powers into your pet sets, and that character would work like a tankermind that goes in, absorbs the aggro, and lets their pets do the damage while they endure. You could even modify the pet scaling such that the tier 3 pet is immune to damage but doesn't quite have the same damage output of the normal "mastermind" pets. This solidifies your role as that of a bizarre tank for your group that has lots of moving parts.
  10. The bots themselves cast force fields on each other, so there's a little bit extra thematic bleedthrough there. Prior to incarnate stuff, bots/ff was very strong. You just don't need all that defense anymore since everyone can softcap now without the help. But that's a mechanical quibble. As is, they are a good choice for a strong theme, based on tech applied for strong defenses. To add to the thread, I propose Demons/Sonic Resonance. The theme: driving people crazy with pure NOISE
  11. You want your answer? A Nemesis. The game looks at your build, says "aha, I got just the thing" and prints out a character specifically designed to counter your character. After X missions, your nemesis arrives, and hunts you down, following you across zone lines, even into pocket D, until you find enough players to help scare them off, or you happen to be in a group that can actually dent the thing. A new suite of badges would of course be added to those players who assemble an impressive rogues' gallery.
  12. ooh, that's pretty sweet. also, I do like the idea of having another AT with armor as the primary.
  13. Corrected the obvious defender typo, thanks everyone. I would think that for the other pet classes they'd get different pet options available to them, probably pets that pull enemies into melee with you so that you could be the tank, in the case of /armor. maybe a taunt aura so that you could really tankermind without worrying about your pets flopping over as soon as they get into combat with DUST
  14. Out of the archetypes we have: Melee/Armor Brute/Scrapper/Stalker Control/Support Controller Control/Assault Dominator Ranged/Blasting Blaster Ranged/Support Corruptor Pets/Support Mastermind Armor/Melee Tanker Support/Ranged Defender Ranged/Armor (the new guy) Sentinel Looking at this from one point of view (just because), I see this as 4 main primary powersets: Melee/Ranged/Control/Pets, two secondary powersets in Armor and Support (and two classes that deliberatly swap secondary powersets with primary as part of their identity) and two specialty sets in Blasting and assault which help to define classes meant to be more aggressive. That gives us some unused combinations without getting into weird new territory. What do you think these would be called? Melee/Support Guardian? Paladin? Control/Armor Jailer? Oppressor? Pets/Armor Captain? Pets/Assault/Blasting* (specialty more focused on offense than armor/support) Insurgent? Pets/Control* (specialty more focused on holds/some aggression) Overseer? It's kinda fun trying to visualize combinations that might be available under this. Fire Control/Fiery Aura sounds fun. Beasts/Bio Armor... Ninjas/Devices? War Mace/Pain Domination...
  15. Someone mentioned recently that the old version of Praetoria, before going rogue, was really hammy. I pointed out you really can't get more hammy than a world conquered by the Hamidon.
  16. Will these statistic charts be a monthly/quarterly thing? They're kinda cool to study.
  17. I got you covered bro. Hardest mission I could create. so far. The scenario: Someone made fun of a gang called Thugs Yo, and now Thugs Yo is destroying the server. 25774. Mission's going to have a lot of enemies. Probably more than is practical. For optimum results, you'll want a team, because then the extra enemies will have someone to attack. If that's too much to handle, I have a gang war free version, at 25781. If you somehow find it too easy, it should work just fine as a fire farm. Only two people I know of have tried it out thus far, one said it was great and he had fun as a blaster, the other was a brute fire farmer and got steamrolled. (I was there at the time, they probably have all the right fire resist but not the smashing/lethal or whatever it is that thugs do, I honestly have no idea what their damage types are)
  18. Is it supposed to look like this? This seems wrong
  19. Nope. Not working on my end.
  20. just posting this here so that the forum people don't miss out.
  21. I don't have the in game stuff to host a costume contest, but if I did, one of the first contests I'd host would be the hornet stinger challenge. 1 On one character, create a costume for each alignment (Hero/Vigilante/Villain/Rogue) that captures the essence of your character and tells a bit of a story about their fall from grace and return, or their temporary flirtation with heroics and return to tyranny. Here's Hornet Stinger, Vigilante outfit highlighted. You can see her vigilante outfit upgrades the belt to include a police baton, signifying excessive force. (okay maybe you can't see, it's rather small) Her villain outfit goes more risque with the mesh, adds shoulderpads because you can't trust those to your side, and adds sinister boot plates. Her rogue outfit embraces green for greed and money, but keeps the mesh, and opens up some brighter color to showcase the potential for redemption. I love the idea of hosting a contest like this, not to reward players for thinking like me, but because this character was an absolute blast and this process made her a lot more enjoyable. How much more? well, she's a defender with dual pistols so she can't even roam the streets to take down purse thieves for xp or influence. 2 The second concept I want to talk about is the coordinated challenge. This is where you team up with another player (or up to 7) and create a duo, a group, or an entire task force, all of whom are coordinated together. Matching elements are encouraged but matching uniforms are forbidden. I saw some players teaming up to create a sort of 40's style group of heroes in the style of the freedom phalanx the other day, that was neat. Looked like they were having a blast to boot. 3 The third type of challenge I can talk about is the Test Subject challenge. On live I had a character named Mass Driver. This character was not a single person, but a group of test subjects volunteering to test some extremely dangerous tech - called the Mass Driver. As a result, Each costume varied wildly, and the only thing they had in common was some tech pieces that allowed them to use titan weapons. Which is pretty cool, but I think others can do more with the concept, which is why it would be a lot of fun to be a group effort. Basically, each costume is a different person, using some form of magic, science, mutation, etc. that links them all together. Run with that. Anyways, I posted this here in general discussion because it's not a suggestion for the game, it's a suggestion for players, which seems more like a general chat topic. Anyone else have any ideas along these lines? Perhaps even an "age your character" thing? That might be cool too, but I can't think of a way they'd change that much, and that's kinda what we already do with our alt costumes anyway. Maybe that's just me? Maybe that's just me.
  22. This is Hornet Stinger, one of the most fun characters I ever played. She's dark miasma/ dual pistols, And a defender. Her damage is terrible, but the animations of dual pistols combined with ninja run, and her awesome outfit (Vigilante version pictured) made her a blast to play. Action pose. When I first played her on live she was nonstop fun until around level 22 or so, when I hit the brick wall of "You're a defender, go play in a group, dammit!" and I decided to go vigilante, and fixed her up a costume for that that changed her look. That made the whole game that much more fun. If you get the chance, dual pistols are loads of fun (but don't expect to be doing all that much damage!) bonus pic
  23. With the shuttering of City of X long ago, there were Four remaining incarnate slots that went unfulfilled. Genesis Mind Vitae Omega What I'm proposing is not suggestions for these slots, But something else entirely. Instead of continuing the incarnate system to its completion (because the world blew up), instead an assortment of powerful groups have decided that the incarnate path was something that would have led to disaster (or at least disaster for them), so they all decide to kefka the situation and warp the incarnate system into something new. Warping and editing the source of the powers, they end up ruining the source of incarnate power, but accidentally create something more powerful and more dangerous. There would be some new elements: 1) you take a part of your character, perhaps a powerset, a pool, or some other feature that makes your character distinctly different. You lose that. Temporarily. 2) you have to lean on the resources of another hero/villain/whatever for a while (perhaps for a price) and this helps you grow in a separate direction. 3) overcoming this obstacle, you eventually get returned back to you what was lost, but more powerful this time 4) the source of the incarnate power is "sealed away" or "destroyed" either through heroic struggle or villainous greed. Mechanically, the incarnate system would remain in its unfinished state with 6 out of ten slots filled and the rest noticeably empty, and these new story driven elements would act like the next four slots. You could think of them as 1) Sacrifice, or Tribute 2) External Strength, or Theft of Power 3) Triumph over Adversity, or Dragging the World Back Down to You 4) Revelation/Apocalypse (this is probably the most generic thing to put here, it could be anything - appropriate given the diversity of characters!) Personally I'd be interested in seeing new villain groups introduced as part of new content, and there's no reason not to continue the main story just like we're continuing our own.
  24. If you want to combine teleport ally and foe together, you might also add a teleport attack that teleports enemies high into the air, and makes them fall. If you have any locational hazards like trip mines around, they should fall on those as well. I always wondered why that kind of attack wasn't in the game to begin with. There'd even be enemy groups resistant to it - because they fly.
  25. I saw this picture on the twitch prime loot page and figured I'd point it out. Aside from the very awesome unicorn doom slayer outfit, that shoulder mounted rocket launcher, even if it didn't do anything, would be a sweet costume piece.
