  1. I couldn’t disagree more, it is one of my favourite missions to do. I did it on my first attempt and thought the instructions were clear and easy to follow. - nothing wrong with smoke and obstructions, it makes you play better (or die). - I had no problems seeing stuff with a bit of fire. I just moved through it. - the objectives tell you that you need to find x. There is even a marker on the map for the area you have to go to. The whole idea is to fight your way through enemies to turn off the sprinklers. - timers are divisive, but I enjoyed the thrill and excitement it created. - the whole idea is to go back to the entrance, so of course you are searching rooms you already searched; but you didn’t need those items back then! - the debuffs aren’t that bad, the only one that is real tough is the one that stuns you, but that doesn’t happen often. The mission also does advise that it is going to be really tough. **For reference I did the mission as a Thugs/Empathy MM.
  2. It can be fun to be an ‘ordinary’ person in a world of super heroes, madness and mayhem, and still survive. The natural origin heroes can be the most challenging and fun characters to create and do well with.
  3. Pretty much yeah. With family who played Gravs. It was always disappointing that we all saw different objects
  4. Not sure how easy this is to answer as I forget where powers are. Honourable mentions for me: Empathy: Fortitude - just makes such a difference to someone’s combat prowess; best buff in the game! AR’s: Snipe Shot - just for the sound and animation. Nothing beats it for taking out a lone runner. Mind Control: Dominate - sound and animation are just awesome Gravity Control: Wormhole - nothing says power like picking up a bunch of mobs and putting them where you want them. Gravity Control: Propel - a favourite of everyone I know who’s ever tried this game. Favourite lvl 32 power? Has to be Dark Control’s Shadow Beast. I love wolves, and named mine after my dog 😁
  5. This is good advice I think. And I would agree energy torrent and explosive blast both benefit from KB -> KD. I wouldn’t bother for single target personally, they can just lump it.
  6. Sonic is good at debuffing but from what I hear you are really doubling down on the whole ‘amplifying other people’, as your personal dmg is quite low.
  7. Not sure I am qualified to say because I quite enjoy playing all sorts, like empathy defenders, solo, through Praetoria 🤣 I would say some Controller combos are probably the hardest if you play them solo. Particularly ones with /FF or /Empathy. Clever slotting can make anything work though…
  8. Thanks, I might do that. I have a pretty low expectations to be fair - it would be mainly for confusing minions who get caught in my AoEs. Its whether the 20% confuse/25% DoT would be better than the 12% confuse/75% DoT.
  9. Well I like Defenders who can hold their own and play aggressively. Others like to focus on the debuffs their blasts can bring. Some like to be passive too. So it depends what you want your focus to be. Personally I fall into the first category, so I focus on my damage, as a dead enemy is one who won’t be doing anything, and I feel my Empathy and Leadership skills already bring enough support.
  10. Perfectly legitimate request. I would advise to have multiple chat tabs and use a tab that hides personal tells when forming a raid like this. You will always get a few who won’t comply.
  11. I am going to try cognitive soon and see how it works. The confuse is low mag and low duration, but will be interesting to see how well it stacks when you’re attacking a lot. Plus my character is psychic themed so will fit nice!
  12. My Emp is Psychic Blast purely for his theme. It’s not a bad set either, with a lot of -recharge and a decent attack chain of telekinetic blast, will domination and dominate (psychic mastery APP). Psychic scream has a wide arc and a huge debuff, and procs nicely. Weaken resolve with an Achilles heel proc is a nice extra too. I have a Thugs/Empathy MM I’m playing and at the moment I’m torn. The Defender is better in teams, but the MM is more fun solo as you can make good use of your powers on your pets. Whereas an Emp Defender solo doesn’t get much benefit from their primary at all.
  13. I sort of like both. I like the sets to follow a similar formula but have space for their own interpretation. None of the Control sets are the same, but they all follow a similar pattern. Same with Mastermind sets. I think if there was a set that was completely unique it might be a bit disorientating.
  14. I changed the thread title to specially announce this is a Homecoming story arc, in case others don’t know! Another thing I loved about the narrative - it has a more grounded/scientific story, which is nice because there is a lot of magic story arcs in the game now, so that was really nice!
  15. A new story arc that takes place after the events of the positron TF. The basic premise of the story is “What happens to the Vahzilok after Dr Vahzilok gets arrested?” It is really well done. Perhaps slightly overwritten in parts, but if you like a good narrative and interesting missions, then this a great one to do. Enjoy!
  16. If everyone put as much energy into replying to good and positive threads as they did into obsessing over drama threads then this forum would be better. I posted about my positive experiences with the graveyard shift story arc not long ago, thanking the devs and talking about how good it was, but no one replied to join in the discussion, other than @Snarky (somewhat ironically given his name!!). I feel like this forum might unfortunately be moving towards a personality war zone, and I care not for this type of thing. This thread should be locked now and the others where it has descended into this type of farce should also be locked.
  17. That’s a shame. Have you thought about giving Sleeps an additional effect so that if they get woken up straight away there is still some lingering effect? What I would suggest is a non-enhanceable effect that lasts 6-8 seconds. So if the Sleep works it won’t have any effect (they’re asleep, and by the time it breaks the secondary effect will have expired), but if they are woken up quickly there is still some lingering benefit. “Drowsy” is a good name for it, and could be -Recharge, -Slow, -Def or even a short duration stun (4 seconds?). This would give sleeps a little more combat potency, without changing their core purpose. I like the fact it would give a little bonus only if they’re woken up early.
  18. Are you talking about your in game email tab? Sorry, you aren’t being very clear.
  19. Just completed this story arc for the first time yesterday and really loved it. The narrative is good, and I love the fact you can get an alignment point for the decisions you make! It was really cool going in through the roof rather than through the front door 😁 Finally the hints, sounds, music, ambushes and general gameplay elements (like the virus debuff) were all great. Actually one of the best arcs in game, superior to a lot of the stuff that was on live. You forget that this is a Homecoming arc.
  20. Surely the strongest Tankers are ones with Super Strength? 😀 … I’ll see myself out.
  21. My /AR defender has a fair bit of range and it is great for Full Auto and Flamethrower. As the range increases the vector gets wider... 😉
  22. I don't think there is anything distasteful about slotting travels with global enhancements, thats just clever gaming. My point is though that travel sets should be 2-3 slots max, with 1 unique, and an inticing set bonus for doubling it up with one of the other enhancements. A lot of people slot 2xZephyr into travel because of the ranged def bonus it gives with 2 slots. So there is definitely a formula that can be appealing. I think a 4 slot set is asking for too much of people personally.
  23. and more emphasis on sets that do strong debuffs. People mention Empathy and Force Fields, but buffing peoples Defence rating can be done in many ways by many sets (and wouldn't stop people from getting one shot). Whereas strong debuffs are much more difficult to source and will speed up the TF much more effectively. I am looking at my various characters at thinking my Rad defender would be much more useful than my Empaths. Will be interesting to test.
  24. Aye that is exactly what I am alluding to. That would make for quite a frustrating experience rather than a challenge. As for powerset imbalances, for sure there will alwyas be that. There is a fine path to tread between being too hard so you HAVE to be *preferred ATs* and too easy where its just a longer slog version than on normal mode.
  25. I think I would rather it was the opposite. You can’t bring inspirations into a TF or buy them, and can only use the ones that drop. Inspirations are a core part of the game. The only issue with them is you can buy and trade them so easily.
