  1. I think I saw that exact statement in LFG Chat by someone called "Calamari Commander"
  2. Counter-Counter-Suggestion: Sociopath setting - all NPCs can be attacked
  3. Just to pile on this post a little bit. You have the Skulls, with a really nice early game arc, where they are trafficking drugs to the Trolls, a group that goes later in the game than they do, and they just fall off the face of the Earth. Sure, you can take it as you crippled their operations, but they always seemed to have something bigger in mind. Some later game ties with Mott maybe. Their are some inside jokes about them (I remember "Go kil skulls" when it first came up in the forum leading to the badge) but they shouldn't just disappear. I would like to see them expanded, and more than just adding "Skull Boyfriends". I want to see a male npc complain "Once Maggie got that deathhead promotion, she just doesn't have time for me. She is just cold and distant." Hellions are the same way, they seem to have some more grand plan, but they just disappear. Some of their area is eaten up by CoT but there was room to grow. Also, at low level, I kinda wish the game just had some basic, unaffiliated, thugs. One's that were just thieves, not in a gang or group. Just solo criminal morons.
  4. Map Server. . . . It is a scary one.
  5. If only we could bet on Monkey Fight Club. . . . .
  6. Personally, from what I've found is that Marine really shines for those that are going to be in Melee range. Whitecap, Tidal Pool, and shifting tides really shine when in Melee range. I've gotten a Marine/Electric/electric Mastery defender to 50 and full incarnates. I mainly solo with the occasional Task Force and it is a very fun and effective Offender/Sapper.
  7. I don't know a command, but you can just click on Salvage then click on Vault (on upper left) to open the vault tab. You have to move things from vault to salvage to use it to make inventions. (Ie. move from one window to another)
  8. This is 100% the main draw for me. Secondarily, I generally can just move forward and fight the next mob. I know I can do the quest by myself, and I can do it all. There is no artificial thing preventing me from accessing part of a map or interacting with an object. This is my, I need to turn my brain off and be distracted from all the other stress in the world, game.
  9. Soothing is replaced by the absorb from Barrier Reef. I only need greens if I'm dealing with spawns that I know I'm a little over my head. I'm currently running a 50 Def Marine/Electric Offender/Sapper. I've opened all my incarnate save Hybrid. Vast majority solo, an occasional Task Force. I'm running +2/4, no level shifts yet. I rarely use Greens (only if I haven't paid enough attention to Barrier Reef) and haven't visited the hospital in quite some time. Start with Tidal Pool. No Aggro and a condition precedent to a bunch of other effects. Then Shifting Tides on something in the middle of the spawn. Then Shoal Rush. Now I have a Def Debuff for very little slots (I have to Hami Acc/Def Debuff cheap in AH and a Slow IO) and a good number have fallen. White Cap into the middle of the spawn hitting more because of the def debuff. So now -Res to all of them, and more are falling. Then Short Circuit generally followed by Ball Lightning both benefiting from the -Def and -Res to kill End of anything under Elite Boss Level. So, now the spawn is -Def, -Res, I have a damage bonus (from shifting tides) and the majority of what is there is slowed, without endurance, falling, and taking a little damage occasionally from frenzy. Shoal Rush at 50 gives me a soft hold, a decent Def debuff which aids my -end powers hitting, and slows them. Nothing is better than watching your zero end enemies try to slowly run away and keep falling. I can see Soothing Wave if your a Mastermind or if your going to hang back. From my experience, this set seems to be far more effective being in the enemies face/in the middle of the fight to gain the benefits of being in Tidal Pool and Shifting Tides. If you don't want to be in the middle of everything, then Whitecap is your skip power. I just don't see wanting to be in the middle, where your hitting all the Melee characters with your bubble, then having to pull back so you can use your cone healing/debuff. Life everything, it is playstyle dependent. For my playstyle, at Fifty, doing Dark Astoria Arcs, Shoal Rush is far better than Soothing Wave.
  10. Huh? When I solo (ie. I can do things to a spawn before someone else runs in) I drop Tidal Pool on the spawn, which doesn't cause aggro, drop in Shoal rush which gives a nice defense debuff, slows them, AND (with Tidal Pool) knocks a ton of them down, then I hit them with Whitecap for another knockdown (plus the -Res). My 50 Marine Affinity/Electrical Blast Defender is running +2/4 without difficulty. In Shoal Rush I think I have two Hami-Os (acc/Def Debuff really cheap in auction house and a Slow IO) Honestly, if I were to skip a power in Marine, I would skip Soothing Wave. It doesn't heal you, it is a cone, and its additional effect is a 15% damage debuff for 10 seconds. So, its nice to shoot into Melee and heal the tank or scrappers, I guess, as your debuffing those around them for 10 seconds. Personally, 5 slotting Barrier Reef with Nictus, I rarely see the green part of my health bar move despite having a very kamikaze jump into the middle of the spawn play style as a 50 Marine/Electric (Offender/Sapper) (EDIT - Apparently Soothing waves can heal you, but with the resists you have with bubble and the absorb you'll have from barrier reef, and the fact that you still have green inspirations available, I see a 10s damage debuff when they are probably just falling down at that point anyways, by far the most skippable power in this set)
  11. One of the funny things with Brine is you don't see the damage numbers appear so it seems like a weak power, and it gets discounted. Remember, you always want to use this as your first damaging power to not only get the -Res going, but also because you want to lower the max hit points at the start rather than after they take damage. Go to your power tray and actually look at the details of the power and check the details. This is a very very good power.
  12. This will sound dumb, but try moving characters around in the character selection screen. I had one disappears and it reappeared when I was reorganizing.
  13. This. Personally, I run double xp until 40th as you start to gain far better inf at these levels and your going to need money to pay for IO Sets. Also, enjoy the game, getting to 50 and the incranates is not something you need to rush. Play the game. The story arcs in PI at this level get you a very good accolade, and there is a decent story there.
  14. The only one I would roll back is I would make you actually have a 50 to access any of the four Epic Archetypes. (Peacebringer, Warshade, Soldier and Widow). Getting a character to level 50 is not difficult so this would not be a major hurdle and would give a players some experience with the game before starting a more complicated archtype. Favorite QOL, the Exploration Badge Tips. They are well done, fit the theme, and see the reality of people being able to look up the locations anyways.
  15. The even shorter version: Tanker if you predominately team Brute if you predominately solo.
  16. Hami and MSR. I do them once per character and that is about it. Both are solved and I feel like I'm just following along and blasting. I never feel super or really needed on either of those. I feel like I have more of an impact on a league at the Murder Hotel in the Halloween event than participating in either of those. On new characters, I have around 14 50s and a ton of other characters of various levels, I generally do double xp to 40 and then play the rest of the way. I really wish that there were some alternative contacts/missions to earn the Portal Jockey Accolade. I get it on every Hero 50 I have, and, well, I'm just dreading doing the Maria Jenkins (sp) arc again, especially the mission you team up with Synapse. I like Positron, but I'm tired of working so hard to be his friend (or Statemen's Pal if I run the original through ouro)
  17. I don't believe you. Prove it!
  18. Yes, it is the Season of Giving (Yomo's stuff)
  19. I thought the coin meant that we were going to get minigames like Skee Ball on the boardwalk. We can then collect tickets to trade in for prizes.
  20. Considering prior teases were absolutely impossible to understand as initially presented but could be understood when explained. Looking at you witches hat in a frying pan. (Changes made so one NPC, a witch, wouldn't get stuck so much in a mission (non-stick frying pan). So, go ahead, I won't get mad at you. It builds interest and excitement.
  21. My God Man, Flash Arrow is AMAZING, you should never skip it! You can fire it before combat, and it does not agro or alert enemies AND it gives a very nice to-hit debuff. I have a TA/Storm Defender - between Flash and Storm Cell, I have a great to-hit Debuff before I ever attack or gain aggro, and then, when I do attack, add in Incarnate - Interface - Diamagnetic to all my attacks to give more to-hit debuff, my TA/Storm is very good at taking on large groups of enemies all by herself without the need of the Fighting pool defenses. It is the only character that I made a combat log channel just to watch to-hit numbers and laugh. I may not defeat large groups of enemies as quickly as a blaster, but when they can't hit me it really doesn't matter. As for EMP - I like the power, I have it on my TA/Storm Def, Ill/TA Controller, and Ninja/TA Mastermind - I find I use it more as a 'Oh, Bleep' power when I get ambushed or another group joins in. It is great for resisting status effects, the hold works as any other group hold, and the additional defense is a plus. TA is such an amazing set, it is hard to skip anything.
  22. I like grouping occasionally, but I'm predominately a solo player. Gold side with the missions being able to switch from loyalist to resistance lends itself to solo play. Same with Redside. I encourage folks to pay through that content as it is great story telling, and will occasionally try to group with someone to assist with their missions. With that said, I really haven't had a chance to run some red side Task Forces. I would love to do that. Part of my problem is time and availability on my part, also I don't see them advertised. I don't lead groups much, and I don't want to lead a Task Force that I don't have familiarity with. I would love to take down the Seed of Hamidon some time. I also want to just fight my way in the sewers. I've just never done it, and I haven't seen the point to doing it, but I wonder if I'm missing something. Not a trial, just jumping it and seeing what there is. Frankly, I'm just concerned about population. When I was playing on live, I got into the habit of doing /whoall in zones just out of curiosity. I always loved it when I would have a zone to myself. On Live, that happened, occasionally, in the original Dark Astoria or the Crash Site. It was just fun knowing this map and all the enemies at that moment only existed for you. Now I'm seeing time where I have Talos or Independence Port to myself. Admittedly I'm on Torchbearer but population seems down.
  23. I'm all for additional customization with code that already exists. So add me as a +1. As for the a million inf, unless this is a first character, a million inf is not a significant sum.
  24. Thank you everyone involved in doing this! I couldn't spend anywhere near the amount of time I wanted to at the Haunted House, but I truly enjoyed having a look around. While this server is not as large as some of the others, we have some incredible people that are very kind with their talents, time and expertise. From the Haunted House, and the really really nice treat, to the incredibly efficient ToT Leagues at the Murder Motel/GM hunting, I really appreciate the time and effort you all have put in. Thank you!
  25. If you do set bonuses, with an eye to recharge (Recharge is the most important area to add - Put Luck of the Gambler and Force Feedback procs where ever you can) you can get the recharge on Domination to be less than the duration and enter the joys of Perma Dom. With Perma Dom, you'll generally be immune to status effects and it will greatly help your End issues as it recharges your End bar every time it goes off. There are other posts in this sub-forum about slotting and Permadom. The main reason you want PermaDom is Endurance recharge, status effect protection, and it doubles the magnitude on your status effects so you can one-shot hold bosses. You are going to have some trouble with the combination of Symphony/Psionic Assault as you are only using one damage type. Anything that resists Psi is going to be resisting everything you do (except some Telekinetic Thrust damage as that is Psi/Smashing).
