Ah, the memories. My very first ever 50 (remade on HC) was/is a Kin/Dark defender. I befriended a Stone/Fire tank and we ran the Chimera ninja map, as a twosome, a couple dozen of times. SB allowed the granite armor to run through caltrops and herd practically the entire map (probably pre-I3 release). Nos went from 36 to 50 in a day or so, but it was HOURS. Immediately after, I made PLVRIZR, my first stone tank and my first ever tank to 50.

I completely remember the grind of Steel. Between lvls 10 and 14 (travel power) were the worst. Most of my toons were Mutant origin, so the store was the closest to the train. Hitting 12 and heading for those oh-so-powerful lvl 15 DOs was just so gratifying 😆. Once 14, with a travel power, the game really opened up. While today's game has lost almost all "grind", do recall it was the original devs job to drag things out, to keep everyone on the subscription hook. I will *never* take HC for granted and am eternally grateful, for this volunteer team, to "keep the dream alive".

^---this. But I PUG on other ATs, mostly when needing a TF or two. Being a tanker at heart, all my toons are leveraged for as much survivability as possible, so even the support toons aren't really "squishy".

Another vote for classic Inv/SS. This is my go-to, ultimate tanker. Not quite a "Mo Durable" build, but with Pyre Mastery, you get Char and the absorb proc and Melt Armor, which is -7% Def and -11.25% Res debuff, auto-hit (10' AoE). Nearly 500 vet levels and I can count his (non-HM) defeats, probably on two hands. https://www.midsreborn.com/builds/download.php?uc=1912&c=827&a=1654&f=HEX&dc=78DA7594594F534114C7FFB7BD1528459682058122156C0BF4D20226AE89098861A92180BE3645AFD0D894A62D4412F5495CDE14357C06BF82A24FF8A62F6E2CFA155854DC9EAE877BEEC050C224B7FDCD3967E66C3313BDD5E37AFF6EF002145777329ECDC646E3A99B7AA6303A958BE7129329D028B97C65B47BB87B6038367D520B1790C4CB56B11EFD869ECAEA5A5F6A7A2A99D233F1B14432919BA9B5D4513DA9EBDAC8549A782497D153E3B909B886262793DAA01E4F2752E325E6A437313E91A399D39C8DA475FD7AB989B46F229BE04DCB2FA613D7B4A1998C1E8BC6B3393D33534D9168F47D28A21F05621836204853BF0A1B3C04F52A5474D881888A36276463C3013C524D4D191E3278F180A109F7195A302BE01EC34772A9482E5505BFD8810DBF1954FC613884BF0C2EFC63F844ABED9002B663403135851864A84394E133D93A644F0E7429D6BE9D0C4E7430B4212220CCF02A081448ABED0522CE42119E7337BC2D8676AA519154239A646DA6C643CD2F9602578AF1CD6615AD96172F51BC25B2C71278B91987D120C0C710422383461E4BE5AE94E2ABDDEACA2AC311AC305463992184252B5E7C615826DFE5CA4E5F0CB51C3F5953815E01FD0C8DE8B35B5D7EC129442808B7949CC38DE7DCED4A3C13F054B5A29953AD689E88C3F2D852518DAAE4025461803D1D152E1B4510C771C93A35B4C8A34825F76096A35AA19C6AE4FED7E087D8EEBBDD3A2B9B62DF0D519175860ECAA956D9A9AC815AB4C2D4D04940BDB4AF522F2E8D177E865572DD2015446D1026C7D02CC02FA089A11D0106951CF8E43AF8CCB298599709A864F0C3CDD045F1364B757034E33CD7E1044E0938CD10C41901676DD6F53CC7E023DF0139B900A75D48B656FE9DE4A955BE83ADB84DFFD5DB97E70E43087719B60F9C261D4F45C322373B82B70C5B2E202C6F17C602C5E2DE36792DE00D4350DDFB5E19752AE461D057CF510EEED71CE2148754790FD228D45B53B3E6DCFB369126C49AF5FD9A006B364CCD6E8636055715ABDCFDDC4F3FD6F84C6DE6D912CEDBAC36CE312CB6EC7D278C96FD791834103E401E3940DE7980BCEB007951D9DE97D618A7073122D7DEE521816CB1E0CE135454E52D99CFB778E9CB13C49D7982B17CC17F3C75F419

If you sell common salvage to a vendor, does it go into the Auction House available inventory, or is it just eliminated from the game?

What's your abnormal farming build?
PLVRIZR replied to Argus_The_Risen's topic in General Discussion
Inv/SS isn't an ideal farmer...far from it (although back in the Live days, pre Brutes, they were kings. The AOE is great from Foot Stomp and Cross Punch, but that's about it. VERY slow, solo, compared to Spines/Rad/Bio/Fire combos. But they are amazing farming support toons by being basically immune and able to herd large groups. My most played Inv/SS also has Pyre Mastery and lays down Melt Armor, every time it's up. Most PUG fire farming teams I join, for fun and influence, do compliment that the map clear times speed up with NUT on the team. -

I used a WP/Fire tank to fire farm and PL my first true farmer (Spines/Fire Brute). I also S/L farm...and have done so with and can attest to @Krimson's S/L farms...with an Electric/Electric Brute. I was driving NUT, in PD the other day, to support a fire farm by herding. Guess you don't see many Inv/SS tanks in fire farms, anymore. -
Stone Armor tank doing Martial Arts kicks and flips in granite form 😆 Personally, anything Super Strength with Foot Stomp is classic superhero. Also, back on live I made (and remade on HC) a DB/WP scrapper, because the sets were released together. Classic and effective.

And I don't like the glowing pom-poms...(and infinitely less satisfying AOE than Foot Stomp). Put Rage back in your build. JUST DO EEET!!! Like @Hyperstrike said, there are other things to do, during the crash. Even the psi damage taunt proc in Perfect Zinger works... A properly built Inv tank can lose the Def, and not blink (save tanking LR or other extreme content where you are not expected to be the damage dealer). Procs still work, as well. I've got FS with the full Hecatomb set, because of the outstanding bonuses and the proc for damage...during the Rage crash.

WB, just...wow!

Did you have to zone before the next mission? I know there's been a bug (unknown if fixed) related to the first person in the mission door, if the star hasn't zoned yet (it changes to the door opener's notariety settings).

I'm currently Ironman-ing a Dark/Rad Corrupter. He's only lvl 12 (and completely solo), but I can see just how powerful he'll be, at 50 and on teams.
-
Agree, completely! It was also the place where I came to love Invulnerability on tankers. The very first time I was part of a run, my kin defender was constantly going back for the bubble, where the lead tank never bothered....the damage ticks were always single digits (if not ones and twos) and neither the radiation nor the Freaks could overcome Dull Pain.

OMG, thanks for the flashback! In college (I graduated in 1987), we invented a new drink. The "Cherry Bomb". Bacardi 151 and Cherry Coke (or regular Coke with maraschino cherry juice from the bar fruit container). I guess I know why I haven't remembered that, in a long time 😆

Ouch, then...no, if dental procedures sans anesthesia aren't applicable...

While I will not argue the effectiveness or DPS or any other calculable metric, there is very little in this game as viscerally satisfying as a Super Strength tank executing Foot Stomp 😁
-
Welp, into try #2. Dark/Kin wasn't the right combo. Thought Siphon Power and the dark blast debuffs would be enough. It was...until lvl 8 and the KR bank mish. Rolled a Dark/Rad Corr and have coasted to lvl 10. Same three attacks (including the snipe), but having a PBAOE heal, instead of Transfusion, and the massive debuff of Radiation Infection has proved to be the difference.
-
Great stuff. I don't stream, so it's my own personal challenge, but my Dark/Kin Corr is level 4 and rolling 😆. Never done a "delete on death" character and it certainly adds entertainment value (read: adrenaline rushes)!
-
And what about Architect tickets? Can you farm for components, as well?
-
What are the rules with merits? Could you not buy anything available at the merit vendor with acceptably earned merits? I know it only applies to rare salvage, not the uncommon you needed in this case, but are recipes and salvage fair game?
-
Honored! You're going to have to change the name, in-game, though 😆
