  1. Not to be mean, but this arc just sounds like an alternate version of the Firewire storyline in Mercy.
  2. Thanks for your insight, Tidge. I appreciate it. As amusing as Propel is, I'm thinking I may skip it on this character simply to not have to also try to maximize the Impact mechanic since Doms have their assault set. Not sure whether I'll do Lift or the single target immob. I enjoy reading what other players with more experience than me are doing, especially ones like you that provide a little extra explanation for what they're doing. 🙂
  3. Oh funny, I made one of these too. @tidge have you started leveling yours yet? Mine's still at like level 2-5 since I haven't really had time to play, but I'm curious how this combo levels up, if it's effective, etc. I've always wondered with Grav on a dom if you want to take the blasty attacks (Lift? Propel, etc.).
  4. Agreed that a Mastermind is not a great pick for a first character as an introduction to CoH. Masterminds tend to require extra things like keybinds/macros to control henchmen and can be troublesome in teamplay when you're not used to them. I will also echo the sentiment that a scrapper, brute, or sentinel will probably fit best for a first character.
  5. Shoutout to @TraumaTrain for starting the Saturday Indom Theme Team, and to @TrixieKixx, @FrauleinMental, & @Midnyte for helping to continue keeping it going. ❤️ Also shoutouts to the Everlasting crew who keep the MSR's and Hami's running even as some of the previous leaders and familiar faces have left over time.
  6. I am not a builder, so I'm sure someone more knowledged than me in those areas can answer. I haven't soloed +4/x8 content yet on any of my MMs. I do have a Bots/Nature at 50 that I play casually with groups. Depending on what kind of group content you're looking to do depends on the answer. Just casual play? Any combo will work. The harder the content the more MM's suffer because of the way henchmen levels work. I enjoy the bots/nature a lot; I wasn't sure if the combo would mesh well together, but it does. I like to turn my bots into a sort of death zone by throwing down the fairie patch thing that gives health/end and putting the bots on go-to and stationing them in the patch--though I only do this method if we're at a point where we'll be fighting enemies long enough to make it worth it, otherwise I run in standard bodyguard mode. This method will often allow you to throw them in aggressive if you're in a group, so long as you're aware of your surroundings. I run Entangling Aura near them to try and catch and hold baddies before they can hurt the bots too badly. I imagine you'd play this combo similarly to a mercs/nature. One of these days I want to make a necro/nature as I like the whole idea behind the life and death theme.
  7. Bots/Nature is a super fun pairing, but Entangling Aura is not going to hold an AV, I don't think. You mostly needs slows/immobs to keep AV's from running away as I'm not sure how hard it is to stack a hold high enough to hold an AV. I also am not sure that Nature, as great as it is, is a good enough secondary for soloing AVs. AV solo secondaries tend to lean more towards /Traps, /Marine, /Dark (I think but am not 100% on that one), /Cold. Maaaaaayyybe /Storm, but that's probably more to just straight out-damaging the AV's regen.
  8. Bug Zapper 😛
  9. Just to iterate on the bolded part: Homecoming is not the only CoH server group in operation. If folks really don't like Homecoming's direction, they have the option to go play on one of those server groups or start their own server because the code is out there. (And no, this is not a "if you don't like it than leave" comment, just simply that the options are there for someone who gets fed up enough/decides it's not for them.) But yes, it is nice to know the folks running the game do play it as well because sometimes I have wondered about it. I appreciate the Homecoming team and what y'all do for us.
  10. Then this is what needs to be in your OP
  11. My dad used to work in city planning so this is extra funny to me, lol.
  12. I will not be there for the next two weeks. Good luck to you all!
  13. You are so hung up on one word I chose, lol. You are taking that word so literally that you have pulled anything else I said out of context. Sure, fine, it's a QoL thing and saying whether it's needed or not is whatever. Doesn't take away from the concerns regarding it brought up by myself and others.
  14. This still isn't super clear. Do you mean adding someone as a friend? Or do you mean having the global friends list menu pop up as the default friends menu instead of the server one? I could get behind the second option (or letting it be an option people can select as the default). No to the first option. Also, this thread is a good note for folks making suggestions--please make your suggestion super clear and thought out so if the devs decide to read it, they understand what it is you're asking for.
  15. Oh don't worry, he came at me too and miscontrued my point lol.
  16. They literally specified using attuned IO sets to level up to then "detune" them so they can turn them into level 50 boosted IOs; this discussion was never about strictly level 50 gameplay.. My comment is in regard to that strategy regarding that it's not a common or even totally recommended strategy even if "detuners" were a thing because if you're someone concerned about inf (which the OP of this has posted on other threads about, so I'm aware of their post history), then you would slot level 25 common IOs and ride those out to level 50 and then do your level 50 respec into sets and boosting needed IOs. The detuner doesn't seem necessary -- aka it's not needed in the game and is looking for an easy way out of making build decisions, part of which include how you get to 50 and what you do once there. Not to mention, not all IO's go up to level 50, some commonly used IO sets stop at like level 30, so in this request, are we now also looking to boost those to 50+? And on top of which, it's not necessary to boost every single level 50 IO in your build, as was pointed out by several other players in this thread. Even the people running the hardest content in the game aren't boosting every single one of their IOs (which is kind of how the OP post reads; that they're wanting to swap an attuned build for a fully boosted build).
  17. This is one of the most commonly recommended leveling techniques I've seen given on the boards here and in game.
  18. If you're that worried about funding while leveling up, it's not strictly necessary to keep swapping out enhancements or using attuned ones to get to 50. One fairly inexpensive method for leveling is to slot level 25 common IOs in your character and use those to level up to 50, then once you start getting your sets for a respec, you strip those common IOs and put them in storage for another alt to use. The detuner doesn't seem necessary and is bordering on the "I want an easy win" button for me. Your slotting/build choices should require thought and effort.
  19. That sounds delicious! What a neat way to do the stuffing.
  20. It's called jousting, my dude. You jump in and out of a group of mobs as needed.
  21. Why are you being unnecessarily rude to a player trying to ask questions and learn things? It's not like they're a troll poster. Your initial post of the link meant nothing, and your follow up is really distasteful. It's not immediately obvious when looking at the forums that just the name Archetypes has its own area to post in because you see the breakdown of all the individual ATs. You could have made a much kinder and more relevant post the first time by linking the Archetypes forum and saying something to the effect of In the future/just so you know, generic questions about ATs belong to this forum and not the general discussion forum. And if it's such a *huge* deal to have Burt's post here in Gen Discussion, then report it and have the GM's move it to the AT forum. But there was zero need for the condescending attitude that comes across in this comment.
  22. I would imagine it depends on which kinds of buffs (I don't think any pets are affected by recharge buffs), but I know for sure the Umbra Beast can be healed at least, and likely takes damage buffs and the like. I use my Umbra Beast for chaining off Elec aff powers as it's up more consistently than the pet Elec Aff comes with. I am not confident about whether the shades can be buffed/healed as I've never really paid attention; I'm not typically concerned about keeping them up because they despawn anyway and have to be resummoned no matter what.
  23. There was a thread about this on the forums a bit ago... A huntsman is a like a bane that takes the gun attacks? I think that's what it was. Found the thread; it appears to be what I thought:
  24. Yeah, I know nothing behind the math in how the game calculates threat, but Ice Armor is a threat magnet. Like I said, my baby Ice Tanker was pulling threat even without using taunt from tankers much higher in level than her. Perhaps something between the combo of Icicles and Chilling Embrace helps keep the baddies glued?
  25. I don't have like detailed knowledge since I'm not a number cruncher, but what I do know of Ice Armor is that you will have ALL THE AGGRO and ain't no one taking it from you. I have a little Ice/Claws tank who was doing a TF or missions with higher level tankers/brutes and kept ripping their aggro away. Like many of the older armor sets, it's dated, has holes, and other armor sets do what Ice does better. I still think it's fun though and really need to spend more time with mine.
