  1. Not so much debate as preference. I have noticed another bonus to /rad and /elec they have great absorb shields as well. My lvl 50 rad with accolades has 1707hp i hit the absorb shield it goes up 713 to have a total of 2430hp. My absorb is up every 30 seconds. Add in 17.4hp/s. Plus high resist and positional hitting 20% or so. Perfect no. But i feel that when I eventually do get hit I won’t go down. Also the absorb shield greatly buffs my recovery. with /nin I’m seeing how different it is t build the other way and how well soft capped defenses are. But i’m still early in that ptocess. Should be fun though just different from what I normally do. Just curious how many prefer to start with defense base and how many prefer to start with resist. And maybe get a few tips as to why.
  2. I’m curious what do you perfer? Do you like starting with a resist set then stacking whatever you want, regen, defense from pool powers, and IOs, etc.? or Do you like starting with a defense set and building from there? This is not about what’s best but what you like and why. i really like starting with a resist set normally and have great success with that. Though i am building a /nin now that i’m enjoying though he is only lvl 30. My main is a fire/rad that i have built to have positional defense in the mid 20s.

  4. Sentinels are for fun. So that depends your definition of course. For me that means end game nuking every mob and killing half of them and standing there moping up the rest, if my team hasn’t. It also mean when i’m on a pug team that is really bad and they all die i keep going till all the enemies are out. as this game has no real need for a perfect team they fit in very well. Plus when I actually want to read game text of a story arc I haven’t done i can solo it and take my time with the story.
  5. Anyone who actually plays a sentinel should probably weight in on that tread. Lots of non-sentinel players throwing out weird ideas.
  6. I would venture to say that thematically we could take this a step farther. A sentinel could not only see something(to-hit) but also identify it’s weakness (-res, -def or -dam). Thematically a sentinel could have a personal slight perception bonus. But then a team weakness defbuff sort of like opportunity is. I have a lvl 50 sentinel fire/rad/psi he is loads of fun. I even like opportunity somewhat basically just the - resist part. If you took away the damage buff and end redux part and instead gave a minor +tohit and perception maybe +range while i was building up my bar i would be happy. When i fire off the opportunity i loose those bonuses(+tohit, percep, range) because i’m too busy smacking one target. But if you don’t get around to it till 2021 i’ll still be playing my sent.
  7. What if the inherent was a set of toggle with no endurance cost. +tohit, +damage, +def, -resist, -damage, -defense but you could only run 1 toggle at a time. Then you would help yourself and your team but have the versatility to choose how depending upon the enemy. As to the percentage i have no idea.

  9. Hmmm... I'm have heard positional is "better" than typed. Mainly cause you are only chasing three areas to soft cap, as opposed to all the types. While we are on the subject. How does positional work with typed defenses? What i'm asking is if I theoretically soft capped melee then had a soft capped typed like S/L. do the 2 together create a better benefit? or just one or the other is enough? I know this is all theoretical I'm just trying to understand how the 2 work together.
  10. This inspired me to start levelling a ice/ice. What the heck is frigid shield? Tried it between lvl 15-20. didn't really use it then respected out of it. Does it get better? Second, just looked at the defenses that i have all base and noticed no positional defenses. like i said i'm only 20 right now but that seems like it could be a problem. any thoughts?

    Blzaing bolt repel

    I use overwhelming force KB/KD. The repel is a lot less and the knock up is good. I have actually been using it to knock minions or whoever closer to other minions in order to do an AoE. It's a small enough repel that you can easily predict when it will stop.
  15. I have a Psi/Eletric Brute. He is awesome. Can tank most anything. AoE heaven. Lightning field with a stun proc. a boat load of recharge but not permahasten(no need). pretty high defense in the high 20% low 30%. Good regen a self heal and self endurance boost. It's great. I choose mu for my patron to give me lightning ball for another AoE. Normally on an SF/TF i can run around on my own and level groups by myself. He is probably not the fastest at clearing but he can do pretty much anything. He has soloed AVs that's the only area that psi might lag. It's doable but it can be a slow fight. I also slotted overwhelming force KB/KD into mass levitation. Awesome hit everyone and toss them into the air but not screw up your teammates AoE attacks or your own. I have yet to figure out mids on my mac( yes I know there is a thread dedicated to it.) so i can't post my build. But that's also great cause I just played and built is as I went and it's a beast. Not gonna win a record for taking down a pylon but I can do it(20 minutes latter lol).
  16. I’m thinking of trying some of this craziness some time. I just got my sent to 50 fire/rad. When for mu as a third but ended up not liking it and changed to psi. I’m very close to final build but still need to work on my incarnate powers. Still no lore pets. what is a good place to start? Is there an SF that might be a little more straightforward?
  17. Very cool build. Thanks. A question: why stealth and not maneuvers? It seems if we switched maneuvers with stealth, then we could drop super speed and add assault. That would give a 10% damage bonus. Of does that all suck too much end? This is not criticism just trying to figure out how I may make mine a little different.
  18. Any way you could post your build in a different format. I still haven’t figured out how to open pines on my mac. I have a lvl 45 fire/rad iv’e been working on and would like to see how you built yours.

  20. Still trying to wrap my head around how best to use this inherent ability. I feel like i should save it for the boss or whatever but to do that means i cut my attack chain until i find the "right" target. 1. Do you just pop it every time it's up? 2. If defensive is the best at high lvls, Do you respec out of the tier one power? It seems a shame to waste the -20% resist on a minion.
  21. I would like to see this be a aoe that the main target got a debuff then the other got a minor debuff. It would help make it a little more useful in teams.

    Psi/Electric Beast

    Thanks a lot!!!! I was having a little trouble figuring out what attack powers i wanted to keep. I did pick Mu mastery, more thematic and for ball lighting, but i wasn't sure it was best. This is close to my build just more refined. Thanks for mids I'm gonna try and get that going too.
  23. So I currently have a lvl 48 Psi/ Electric armor brute. I picked Electric cause of the high resistance + self heal + end management + lightning reflexes. Really I think that set is awesome. I picked Psi cause when i last played it wasn't a powerset and I'm thinking not as many foes have defences to psi. The end result so far is a really fun brute. I have been buying attuned IOs to fill out recharge speed and def. But since i'm on a mac and don't have mids can anyone help me a little with this build? It's not a farm toon it's a i like to hit things hard when i'm alone then smash groups when I'm with people character. Also is spring attack good? Thanks for your thoughts.
