  1. @Killerhawk When you look real quick, and I mean REAL quick, he looks like he has this epic dark beard. The Pirate-Ninja. We finally found him.
  2. Wow. this gal used to die. All the time. I tested the build at level 32 and though it's still brutally incomplete, she rocked a +0x4 Devouring Earth mission and we can agree that the DE are NOT an easy group to learn a new build. With a full build she will be a machine. Very hectic playstyle, always something to do. Though I don't think that I need to work on +rech as much as necessary on most characters. Most of her useful powers ar on a very short timer. Perhaps I could put my efforts somewhere else? But yeah, it's end-challenged, big time. Call Raven is a END sink and sticking only Procs in there might not be the shiniest idea for the moment. So, what would be the mastermind anti-thesis of this? This is hectic and single target, melee damage. So the opposite would be ... Bots? And... what secondary? FF?
  3. @StrikerFox seriously, THANK YOU. I really like the way you explain everything, it will help me in my future builds! Now let's see how I can improve this little guy here. Another thing: When it says "MezResist[whatever] 60%", what does it mean? I know that mezzes are usually quantified by "mag" applied but this is a flat % number so it is like ... defense? 60% of the time, the mez "misses"? Another other thing! : The 10% resist from Sovereign Right I put on my Wolves, does it affect ALL my pets, only these pets, or only the Mastermind?
  4. Didn't know this rule. Well noted, thank you sir! Absolutely right! Another learned thing 🙂 Oh? Why? (Seriously, I have no idea. I really don't know anything about procs) You are... absolutely right on this! Really? I didn't know that bit about beasts and stationary targets. Nice suggestion! I'm going to try it without and if it comes to that, I will absolutely take that into account! They're better than ATOs? I'm not sure how to proceed with this one I'm afraid. Thank you! It was a clueless build borne of all the info I could gather and some instinct stapled over it. (get it? Instinct? Beasts? Ok I'm sorry.) I have zero experience with higl level MMs and very little high level experience to begin with.
  5. Hi guys. Still trying to modernize all the alts I made when I first joined Homecoming. Today we have Eden Savage, a modern day female Tarzan "arresting" bad guys with the powers of fangs, claws and dark powers. Because reasons. She was another of my "generic-IO over strangely picked powers" fest. So I tried reading as much as I could here and I came up with this build. It LOOKS solid to me but could probably be improved a bit. I know for instance that I have WAY too much recharge, Hasten overlaps by almost 12 seconds. So what could I focus on instead? That last power will either be a travel or another leadership toggle like Assault, haven't decided yet. Thanks in advance! 6. Well, I'm glad my simple request sparked an active exchange of opinions. While I would not consider myself having very little knowledge of the game (I have been playing this forever and some aspects I handle really well, such as the inf market), I'm more a melee enthusiast and I have very little experience with dealing with squishy archetypes. So looking at different builds helps me understand the mechanics and wrap my head around new ideas and concepts. I think I understand what @JJDrakken wants to do with the teleport pool. Gathering up enemies to nuke them more efficiently can be a good strategy, I think. However, skipping Force of Thunder, which is one of the best CC this character has, and skipping water burst, which is a hugely awesome attack that doubles as soft CC is completely incomprehensible to me. Now, as to what guys tried to achieve with various set bonuses, that would be the part where I have much to learn.
  7. I see. Mobility and the art of mitigating what you can't control in your immediate surroundings. Your point is very well explained in there: thank you!
  8. @Nemu this is a LOT closer to what I had in mind, and it's not even that expensive of a build. Thank you for this. Indeed you seem to favor ranged defense. I have no idea why. A lot of endgame concepts and mechanics still elude me by far in that game.
  9. Wow, I didn't even know this topic existed, NICE! There was one such build. I grabbed it and studied it. It's not quite how I want to play my blaster but the learning experience was indeed there, thank you!
  10. Just loaded Rainy, my Water/Elec blaster, I think she was the second character I rolled on Homecoming. I played her a lot with my friends until they all left the game. Now she's 38, all decked out with generic IOs and bad power choices and I'd like to make her fun to play. I'm not looking for x8+4 material. I just want to be able to explore content and play exciting battles in my missions and not feel like I'm stuck with poking at three even-con minions all the time. So what powers do we skip in these powersets? What's to keep? Which epic to choose? I love blapping, I love range, I love both the powersets. A skeleton build would be appreciated (or a complete one if you have one handy). Essentially, I'm just facing this interesting character that's going to waste because I never took time to solo her (teams are too easy...) Thank you, awesome people of Homecoming.
  11. I never considered being a badge hunter before because I never saw the point or the appeal, which is strange, considering how i'm a hopeless RPG completionist. So last week, I was reading these parts of the forum out of curiosity and I saw something that was quite frankly, inspiring. The person was saying that going after badges went beyond just getting badges but was also a pretty neat way to visit content they would have never seen otherwise. To me, that is an excellent reason to badge. Combine that with the new exploration system introduced a few days ago: win. So, while I will probably never be in the exclusive 1500 club, I'd like to try my hand at this, so my question is as follows: In order not to miss too many content badges (missions, objectives, story events), should I absolutely start a new alt and follow a guide, or can I take one of my favorite guys and have at it through Ouro and so on? Thanks guys!
  12. Playerbase: "It's 2021, City of Heroes has matured into a pretty awesome game and I just don't see how anyone could improve or make it any better at this point." Homecoming Team: "Hold my Tesseract."
  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! ❤️❤️❤️
  14. My hero of the day. I am beyond giddy at this very moment!! THANK YOU!!
  15. I need to try that with my next villain. That advice lady had a Starcraft/Computer voice that was kinda nice but Captain Consonnant screaming his out of breath pleads quickly wanted me to plug my ears with dynamite. So yeah the comic was a well delivered pleasure but as far as tutorials go, this was weak AF. Kill two minions. Deal with Blue Spectrum. Talk to trainer. Spam your two attacks until pseudo boss magically disappears. Voilà. I prefer red and blue.
  16. hahahaha I was just about to say "Oh wow there's voice!!" But yeah, ok, it's not exactly AAA material voice acting 🙂
  17. You know, sometimes, you start a new alt. A common theme for CoH players... ...or so I'm told. And then you say... Hey, I'll do something different this time around. How about a tutorial. So let's see... Outbreak. haha Good times. This brings me back. Breakout. Oh yeah that was fun too. CoV had a nice launch. Wait. Galaxy City. I haven't done th.... oh hi, what's this? a "Enter Game" AND a "Next" button. What does "Next" do? *clicks* Holy Sister Psyche STATESMAN! We need more of this. Speaking of... I still have quite a few of those awesome comics they used to send while I was a live subscriber but I never got around to read them all. After all these years, surely someone has them scanned somewhere? I love this game so hard.
  18. Funny enough, on another of my characters, I couldn't reproduce the issue either. I will test your theory tonight!
  19. Normally, when you complete your mission objectives, two things can happen: Street swiping: upon completing the required amount of enemy defeats, the text changes to "Return to contact", merely speaking to the contact will proceed to the next mission. Indoor instance: upon completing the required objective, the "MISSION COMPLETE" message will appear. From then you can either exit manually or click "Exit mission" on top (not sure those are the exact words) and by doing either, you'll be met with "Return to contact" like the case above. If at any point you talked to your contact and chose "Complete this mission", it means you asked the contact to auto-complete it (forfeit) for you and you can to that only once every three days. Hoping this helps you out. Welcome to the forums!
  20. Verdict: Incredible. Sorcery is ridiculously awesome. Arcane bold hits satisfyingly hard. Enflame (though unslotted as of yet) is super fun to use as long ad you plan your target. With a fully slotted energy absorption, end woes no longer exist. She is a beast. I started slow (+0 x3) and I completely destroyed everything. Thank you so much guys. I only see bright and awesome in that tanker's future. And I hope that the two other origin power pools get similar treatment.
  21. Hello devs. Unless my memory is going down the drain, double-clicking the ENHANCEMENT word above the icon tray used to open the enhancement management screen. Now it does that but also goes directly into combination mode. I'm pretty sure this wasn't like this before. Am I? Someone please tell me I'm not going mad 🙂
  22. Thanks for your answers @Sovera and @Onlyasandwich (Love the username). I think this ice/ice tank will cure my altitis for a while. I'm respeccing her right now to test a few things we discussed (I will probably drop one of my ST to try enflame) but the whole deal will have to wait a bit (she's only 24 for now and I refuse to powerlevel her). You also convinced me to keep hover. Better Frost cone from above: smart. For now, I thought of 5-slotting Arcane bolt: one FF -Chance for Recharge and the full tempest line for the resists (it's super cheap until I find a better idea) I even wrote a nice backstory for her and made her a nice 5 costume progression. Really enjoying her!
  23. Someone will have to explain Enflame to me. Or better yet, I'll have to test it 🙂 Also: I need to stop soloing. But all the teams I visit are steamrollers and I just can't find any fun there.
  24. I completely understand. One of the main reasons why I have no skill or experience with builds is that there must be at least half the CoX content I have never seen, if not more. For one, I have severe altitis so I keep alternating between the same ~25 characters all the time so, I have no true level 50. Even though I<m a vet (I started maybe one moth after original launch) I have never seen Redside beyond level 30 and I have seen very little of gold side beyond 20 (though what I have seen, I have hated with a passion). As for blueside, all I have ever knew passed level 40 is Portal Corp so, I don't know what Task Forces are and I don't know most of the end game stuff. So when I hear about "end drain from sappers" and "-Tohit debuffs", I have no frame of reference. However, now that you mention it, I do notice that I didn't have room for the leadership pool in my build. Since I personally try to skip the fighting pool whenever I can, I might drop it and get leadership instead. 5% Weave VS 2.63% Maneuvers is not THAT bad but the loss of 26% S/L resist does hurt though. But using leadership means access to Tactics which is like Focused Acc in some way, and you trade Tough for Assault which is not entirely negligible. Food for thought. But yeah I really want to try the Sorcery pool, it fits my character concept. As for Hover... Ice PAtch requires you to be very close to the ground and since I suck at Hover, i always have to lose precious seconds to reajust so if I want an universal mule, I take CJ instead. Wall of text. Dunno if I made any sense there 🙂
  25. @Sovera Oh wow! You've helped me so much ever since I joined the forums, I wish I could give back somehow. Thank you so much for this! I think that splitting Gauntleted Fist in two is a GREAT idea! I'm looking at what you did and I like it. The way you slotted Energy Absorption was what I had in mind at first so it's as they say: go with your first idea. I also agree with the Arcane bolt slotting idea: having a ranged attack for a tank has its perks and I was looking at the patch changes, it looks quite fun to use now. Do you think it's worth six-slotting now? You mentioned you didn't move too many powers to stay with my choices but, how would you do an Ice/Ice tank if you could pick the powers? I think that the Sorcery pool fits well though. Still, I'm curious.
