  1. If it's Sovera, it's reliable. (tm) (Sovera did not pay me to say this, Really.)
  2. Now that's a page turner. Is the last build you posted there still viable considering the latest updates? I think I want to try this combo, been wanting to try sonic blast, which I have never tried on any character! Edit: Well, not an expert but it feels a little old. I wonder what could be done to bring it to 2021. Hm hm hmmm....
  3. I tried Fire Blast on live. I tried it here as well, got a 35 or 36 Fire/fire blaster. The playstyle just doesn't appeal to me. I dunno. I wanna stick to my Rad/Regen but it's clearly demonstrated here that even for casual play, it just sucks. Meh. Sometimes knowledge is a burden.
  4. Basically how I play the game. I just like to understand what meshes well with what. Edit: I'm also going to comment on what @Rathulfr said. in order to use those two Epic Psy powers with any efficiency, I assume you need to be at least well in your 40s. Well, there's a whole game I like to play before I get there.
  5. Nice topic, I rolled the same sentinel three days ago except that I level her at a slow pace to see how she does and while she is quite functional and Regen is extremely forgiving at low level, she doesn't look like she'll be vastly impressive any time soon. I was looking to reroll her Psy/Regen (I really want a regen Sentinel) but after reading @oldskool's post on Psychic in the thread where every primary/secondary is analysed, I'm no longer sure it's a good match for regen. Though Psy does look like insane fun, but Oldskool makes me want to lean on a Widow instead. I dunno. Too many choices. What WOULD be a good match for regen?
  6. I built my solo super-base (I sadly don't have any friends) with all my neatly labeled containers and I discovered that unslotters are my best friends: my alts recycle everything they no longer need, I store and store and store like a packrat and my purchase needs plummet as I store even more. I am an ecological, influence-friendly happy player. Yay. (Hey it's your fault, you encouraged me to brag)
  7. Amazing. You guys are really nice to take the time to explain all this!! Sooo... I swear to God I'm not a noob but... what's a purple patch?
  8. First Matthew Burke arc, three short missions, completed by level 5 AND that is with double experience so, we're talking super short, super easy. Yet I got 10 merits. Not complaining but, isn't 3 merits the norm for newbie arcs?
  9. Poor guy says his whole speech twice. Stayed too long in a completely vacant tutorial, he just lost it. Poor Sakai. Edit: Closed his window, clicked again, he seems to feel a lot better now. Must be my glowing presence.
  10. Now I want to try just that, but with a Rad/Regen. /Regen was my first CoH character ever and the itch to make a new one is real. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Sentinel's regen is full of different goodies!
  11. That's a super nice topic and some really good explanations! Thanks!! So what's the smartest way to slot Sentinel ATOs? I know that some ATs like scrappers have a "better" way to maximize the ATO's benefits. Is this true for Sentinels or can I just wo willy-nilly and not look back?
  12. The verb To Squeeze immediately triggers this response in my brain. Warning: This video contains slightly disgusting behavior. And redheads.
  13. Yes I thought the title kinda gave it away 🙂 Sorry I was a bit obscure then!
  14. Redside, cape mission, looking forward to go to Paragon City to beat the tar out of a hero and her his cape. However, I need to do a job for the family to get there. And then I notice this. And walk a few more steps... I blame Longbow.
  15. So I'm playing Buzzsaw's arc, final mission. Good stuff. Well done. I had tons of fun. So when I hit the quest completion point, the quest text informs me that Cortex had a nice chat with Dr Vahz. Wait that? Vahz is among my favorite villains in this game. How did I miss this? Oh, that's right. When the quest objective said "Where is Cortex?", I did find him but he was impossible to interact with. I had to talk to Dr Vahz who was behind a door. Fortunately, they were still there so I went back and I could still make the conversation play out. And the meat of my topic: Between the several pages of long quest text paragraphs (Right Window on the screenshot) and the torrent of very very quick chat bubbles flowing AT THE SAME TIME (Chat log, left Window on the screenshot), It was impossible to follow. Fortunately, I mostly solo so I could take the time to re-read it all afterwards but by then, the exposition effect was ruined and gone. This game needs to choose. Use text bubbles, use quest text, but don't use both to deliver three pages of text at the same time. It. Does. Not. Work. Edit: Also, I will never, ever, ever say this enough: Dark blue text over a dark background is pure ocular murder to read. Please let us format our text color.
  16. And there would be the main reason why I didn't join the Homecoming Discord. English is not my first language and though I speak it quite fluently, I still have a rocky accent and I don't particularly feel like being isolated because of that.
  17. I think that @Chainz brought up a frame for an interesting Ironman Challenge but I don't think that the rules he mentioned need to be entirely static. An Ironman means you push your limits. If I did something like this (I won't, my gaming life is complicated enough as it is), I would impose a "No AH" rule on me because marketing is what I do best in this game so it would be supremely easy to buy my way out of difficulties. If I wanted a CoH challenge, I would use most of the rules written up there but I force myself to play a support type. I suck at those so it would be a challenge by itself. You know. Tailored to your talents. Am I making sense? I need sleep. Or coffee. Or both.
  18. Soloability exclusive to those? My stalker and most of my controller would like a word with you 🙂 Seriously though: enjoy your challenge, sounds fun!
  19. Street sweeps Green Cons to level 50. No seriously, why the second rule? Just curious. (I'm guessing access to a self-rez power would be a cheat?)
  20. See? I did my part for Redside. One new villain. Wait what? PB+PT doesn't work anymore? No sweat. I'll find some other immature trick to amuse me.
  21. I like everything you said there. And if such a game existed, it would be awesome. But I'll go further than saying "it would require insane amounts of phasing". You're talking about a single player RPG. A MMO will never give that much freedom to the player because of the repercusions involved. I remember in the early EverQuest days, high level players used to cross to enemy newbie zones and killed quest givers for fun, not that there were many quests in that game to begin with, which is silly considering the name, but I digress. Most likely to prevent this, the merchants were made super hard to kill to avoid high level players (or high level roaming mobs) from messing with the growth environment of newbies from other factions, which was perhaps an even worse decision because you could auto-attack a merchant if you pressed the wrong key. So eventually, MMOs were made into a frame of "this is what you're allowed to do" and "the rest cannot be affected in any way whatsoever". So you can't Total Focus the car that just rammed (and did not even affect) you. You can't Power Blast a civilian just because you don't like their pants. (Though you still can do Power Boost + Power Thrust to a low level Family goon from the top of a bridge in Independance Port and that will NEVER get old. NOT. EVER.) Allowing the player to deeply affect the environment would be, at least this is what MMOs teach us, detrimental to other players. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah. Redside. Redside is bloody awesome.
  22. I have a poor build. Terrible perception. Should have focused on that instead of forum post-proccing.
  23. Personally, akin to what @Luminara said, it's the zone design. If you pick super speed, your life will be miserable. Aside from that, I prefer CoV in about every aspect. @Christopher Robin a quick question, and I really, really mean no disrespect but I want to ask: why do you force carriage returns (you press the Enter key) at the end of each of your lines instead of letting the forum engine do the line change for you? You write good posts, your arguments are well explained and, let's be honest, Orange IS the best color in the universe, but since not everyone use the same screen resolution, deciding where your line ends instead of letting the post script do it for you makes your posts feel dislocated and it makes it very hard to read. I used to do that, actually, a long long time ago, until someone pointed out to me and I realized what they meant.
  24. At level 41 I can already reach a few conclusions: This build is not end-starved but it misses a LOT. I currently play on +2 and I whiff like you wouldn't believe. I was also aiming to have a very solid single-target core with a decent AoE damage in the form of Whirling hands and Ball lightning to rely on but the damage is really lackluster, which kind of removes the fun of having the Fold space power: no sense in bringing everyone around me if I can't AoE them to death. This idea might work better on another type of scrapper. (or Brute). So I might re-mold this build to focus on extremely efficient and agressive ST damage. Thoughts?
  25. It works well in teams? For the last 10 levels or so (am 40 now) I have played solo and it's a beast but since it's so single target intensive, I felt it would have a hard time contributing to a team of that level since everything goes by so fast.
