  1. Thank you for the great advice and suggestions. I really appreciate it. For the character concept, it all revolves around the Axe, so that's why I am indifferent to /EnAura or /Bio. Doing **MAXIMUM DAMAGE** with a big monster truck voice is what makes me happy. So, based on the above, it looks like Axe/Bio is the way to go. Since my original post, I've made 50 and slotted out the /EnAura version with IOs. Endurance is better, but I have to pace myself or endurance is still a challenge. So, the /Bio will hit 50 the next time I play, currently 45 or 46. I will look for @Linea /bio builds, and thank you everyone for the solid build advice.
  2. I hit 50 with a BA/EA Scrapper tonight, so now I'm looking at the final build. So far, Battle Axe is the most endurance hungry melee I think I've ever built. I hope that slotting out with IOs will help, so I don't have to use my incarnate slots. Was EA the wrong thing to pair this with? Should I have gone with BIO instead? I don't really have a lot of time in this so far, so switching to BA/Bio would be kind of easy. But can Energy work just as well, or at least good enough? Some notes: Defenses: S/L 53% Toxic and Psionic are only 13% and 19% respectively. Positional defenses are also not very good, 19% to 30% Most energy types (Energy, Fire, Cold) are 45% to 59% with Negative being 35% Resists: S/L 59% all other resists are less than 35% I put three Force Feedback +Recharge in so I should be able to get it to proc its maximum. Your thoughts, comments, and suggestions are appreciated. Or should I just reroll it as Axe/Bio?     Beam Invul

    First: I don't play Sentinels, I'm no expert, but with the changes recently, I think it looks fun. I took a stab at some of Underfyre's suggestions. Here is what I came up with. I feel like I missed some things, suggestions are welcome, and thanks in advance. A few explanations might help. Single Shot slots a Force Feedback. I think here it will actually get used, rather than in Kick. And if you wanted, you could slot one in Kick also. Aim gets Gaussians, but is there maybe a better place to put the second slot? Dull Pain: I don't usually use the special enhancements, but this looks interesting. Leadership: I felt like it drained too much endurance, so I took it out. Made a small difference to DEF, but not much. Was that a mistake? Hasten: Try as I might, I can't get it to Perma-Hasten unless the Force Feedback in Single Shot Procs. I think I'm ok with that. I think Single Shot will be a regular "filler" attack. Refractor Beam looks interesting with all the procs. Invincible: Suggestions for a better way to slot this? Does it make much difference? Is this ok? Hover: I think I could free up a slot if I didn't go "Hover Blaster" and just use it to mule the 7.5% recharge. Where is a better place to use the second slot in Hover, or is "Hover Blaster" perfectly ok for a Sentinel? Electrifying Fences gives me a slow, but decent PBAoE, and I can slot in another 10% recharge reduction set (and the Chance for Hold might be funny if it works). Unstoppable is either a wasted power or an "oh s***" button. Suggestions and guidance here is welcome. And last but not least, what are suggestion for the Incarnate Powers?   4. The idea is to focus on ST Damage, Mob Damage and recharge for more damage. I will likely be on teams mostly, and probably seldom/never solo with it, so I don't feel like big Def or Res is worth it. I'd rather focus on damage. Thanks for the help!
  5. I'm trying to get my recharge up to perma-hasten. Any help is appreciated. Only other thing I can see is replace the procs in Chilblain with more of the Ice Mistral's set for 6.25%. Is that worth it? This is the best I've managed so far:
  6. I've been watching this thread looking for what my next Scrapper will be, I am not naive enough to think there is one "right" scrapper for me, only "right now." Here is a list of all of my L50 Scrappers, plus a couple of what I think are relevant Brutes and Stalkers along with notes on how they play. I gave them a subjective 1 to 3 stars. Scrappers: Katana/Ninjitsu*** - Very effective, but it gets a bit tedious. Neither set has a power that makes me giggle when it goes off successfully. But, it is *very* good in all content. Better crit chance from hiding is kind of fun. Elec/Shield*** - "Lightning Rod, BOOM. Shield Charge, BOOM." When it works well, it makes me smile every time. Sometimes I cheer myself on. Very fun, and pretty effective. But, all the boom means single target damage isn't as good. Psi/Nin* (maybe **?) - Nope. Psi has ugly animations, it seems like everything resists PSI and it's boring. The KU from the Tier 9 is cool, but overall, boring. But Psi is effective, I just don't think it's "forever." Titan Wpn/Nin** - Tried this one out to be more flexible. It's ok. Good Off, good Def. But, "Forever Scrapper"? No. Titan Wpn/Bio*** - Even after the TW nerf, this is still a great combo. This is the reason I don't play other BIO melee types. This combo is just that good. Spines/Dark** - There is good reason that Spines is at the bottom of the Tier list. But, I wanted to try this old skool combo. It works well for teams. Good but not great. Ener/Ener*** - Now HERE is the single target damage you were maybe looking for. Wind up is slow, you'll often be hitting a corpse, but Scrappers are for ST damage, and En/En just goes well together. Battle Axe/Ener - This is the only non-50 on the list. I made him because of this discussion. So far, he's kind of interesting. I like the animations, and /Ener is very good and easy to run. Brutes: Kat/Energy*** - This thing plays like a Scrapper because it's so fast. No downtime, rage stays high, very good damage, very tough to kill. Downside is Katana can get boring. Dark/Dark(?) - Great damage output, some slow animations, the brute that tanks. Big heal on a fast rotation is the secret. And it makes playing her a fun challenge. Non sure how well this would work as a Scrapper though. War Mace/Shld* - I love the look, but it just isn't fun. Animations seem slow and damage output seems low. I don't know what the real numbers are. Stalker Broad Sword/Dark Armor* - Broad Sword...it breaks my heart. It could be great, but it isn't. Dark armor is much better for Scrappers and Brutes. It just doesn't work well for Stalkers. A quick word about Ninjitsu. My problem with it was having the Mez Resist clickable to activate (I think someone else in this thread mentioned the same thing. When you have Hasten and the MezResist it is a pain. The secret is to keymap your forward and reverse movement to also activate one of these powers when it is available. For example, remap "W" from "Forward" to "Forward+Hasten" and "S" from "Backward" to "Backward+MezResist". Not the correct syntax, but that's what I do. Since those powers aren't offensive it doesn't affect your movement, and it usually isn't firing off in the middle of combat. This one fix took Ninjitsu from one of my least favorite sets to being one of my favorites.

  9. The idea was to have Cinders and Char Mag 3 hold stack on single target. But I might be wrong about how useful that is? I don't seem to have much luck with /stun, does it work well here on a Dom? You are correct about the recharge, Flashfire is about 20 secs vs Cinders about 60 secs. Looks like a lose a little bit of Ranged Defense 35% down to 32%, don't know that it matters very much.
  10. @MoonSheep So, if you go fire/fire/ice, would you take Sleet, Frozen Armor and then Hibernate for a "Oh $@!7" button, and it would give the set a sort of heal, or do you take Ice Storm, or something else, Vengeance like you mentioned?
  11. I went this direction: Fire/Fire/Fire. I basically took @Jagxyz Plant/Fire/Fire from @Hopestar's list and did a 1:1 swap for the fire powers. I like the higher resists in S/L it offers. Difference in Ranged Defense is Seeds of Confusion was swapped for Hot Feet. A Purple Confusion set is better than a Uncommon Slow set.   12. And I'm looking for Incarnate power suggestions also please. I know from my other Dark Armor Brute that it is usually Endurance hungry, but I find once it is slotted, Dark Armor is usually not too bad.

  16. Ok, here is where I am. I took all of your great suggestions and tried to fit them all into the build. Too many changes to list, but: DEF: S/L 49%; Melee 51.6%, rest of DEF at 20% RES: S/L 79.6%; NEG 75%; Toxic 36%; Everything else 50% - 70% Recharge: 210%, Perma-Hasten, if the Force Feedback in Focus or Shockwave procs, 310% recharge. Lots of procs for damage, and especially endurance. I think this build is pretty good, did I miss anything? Any more suggestions? And especially, thank you for all the help, I really appreciate it.   17. Thank you for all the suggestions. Is there any real advantage for a claws/dark, or would dark/dark be better. Especially from a Damage dealing standpoint. I've leveled a Dark/Dark and this Claws/Dark both to mid-forties. Which it is abysmal, to say the least. The endurance...it's like having a Malta Sapper follow you around all the time. BUT, I can see where IO's will help a lot. Will I get a Scrapper, but tougher, or more like a Tank with no endurance and all of his/her shields dropping?
  18. I wanted a Brute, since I play almost all Scrappers. I wanted to try Claws since I don't have one. Same for Dark Armor, all that endurance drain must be good for something? So why not Claws/Dark Brute? Scratch all my itches at once. This build is currently in the low 40's so will be 50 soon. DEF: S/L 47%; Melee: 46% everything else is in the low to mid 20's RES: S/L 70%; Energy: 52%; Neg 76%; Fire/Cold 65%; Toxic 43%; Psi 78% Procs: Force Feedback is in Focus and Shockwave so it should happen often.     So, I am finally getting around to levelling this build up to 50. I should be there this week. Any suggestions on this build for what should be changed? Negative and Psionics seem like pretty big, common holes. If S/L Defense is soft-capped, is a 63% S/L Resist "Good Enough?" How would this build compare to a Scrapper or a Tank?
  20. My only Tank is Rad/Rad, I had the same experience. First time, I had a Def focused on keeping me up, but part way through the tower, I told him to help the party, I was able to Tank him in the corner all day with no problems. Taunt, punches all normal stuff kept Recluse occupied. I had to occasionally kick off a self heal just to keep my HP topped off.
  21. I think I've read that Dark Melee is not a good set for brutes because of how some of the powers don't get the benefit of Fury? Is that true?

  23. A lot of good ideas here. I looked at the Sorcery route, but felt that the Rune of Protection recharge gap was too long. Looks like I'll be spending some time on the test server! Good advice on the incarnates, I haven't unlocked all of them yet, so still early. I was wondering where to go with it. The build you have here gets me much closer to what I want to do with it. I never solo with it, it's always in groups when I feel like a change of pace. Thank you for the help, much appreciated!
  24. *Please* give any feedback. This is the only Sentinel I've built, I ran it up to 50 with no real plan, so now I'm trying to back into something good for the 50+ content. Right now, I do a lot less damage than my blasters and the survivability is worse since I'm not slotted. @oldskool Specifically to you, I'd like to say thanks. A lot of your posts convinced me to give Sentinel another shot.
