  1. Brute Taunt indeed works like tanker Taunt. Power pool Provoke is for scrappers who want a taunt, like my recent claws/fire Scrapper. It is indeed better than Confront, the taunt in Scrapper primaries, which is single target and also has a to-hit check. And this isn't right. Primary powers ought to be more attractive than any pool power.
  2. I always try to work in Recall Friend on my stealthies, which includes pretty much all of my squishies. If nothing else you can bring forth the player whose 30 minute ATT is up. And this was the case 'old school' as well. I had story completionist characters who took pride in completing missions with the bare minimum of fighting back on Victory. This too was a characterization thing, done as much solo as teamed, in days when getting the mission complete recipe was a much bigger deal.
  3. Next up in my historical figures series: King Kamehameha I of Hawaii: Patterned, of course, after his famous statue in the US Capitol: That helmet and cape are supposed to be made out of feathers. Again, available materials.
  4. At the Crowned Heads base on Torchbearer, we've taken tough on crime to a whole new level..... But, of course, not before the accused gets a scrupulously fair trial using all the latest methods of science:
  5. Very seldom; only for master runs in large scale raids. I don't have a mic, so all I do is listen. The interface makes me want to pull my hair out.
  6. The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
  7. The Highwaymen - Michael
  8. Aye, was in SG base and was going to click out to help with Babbage when suddenly nothing worked.
  9. Hazel Dickens - Won't You Come and Sing for Me
  10. Peter Rowan/Tony Rice Quartet - Cold Rain and Snow
  11. I am 61 years old, and I doubt I am the oldest player.
  12. Paul Giovanni / Ada Verney - Willow's Song (How Do)
  13. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Weeping Song
  14. A lot depends on the character. I recently rolled a scrapper: claws/fire armor. The chief purpose of the character will be to make inf and convertible yellow recipes to benefit the rest of the roster. The character helps to move my dual blades/fire brute into semi retirement; that character recently hit veteran level 99, and as such part of her usefulness is fading. So I am taking a very direct road to 50, because I know how fire armor works and how to play a scrapper. Other characters are more experimental. I tried to get into corruptors and it took a while before I found a combo (psy/dark) that clicked. Same with controllers; I tried ill/rad, didn't really like it; then I made a plant/poison and it finally clicked. All of these characters were levelled relatively slowly because of the learning curve involved. One of these days I am going to stick with a defender. I suppose my point is, not everyone levels all of their characters the same way. I generally don't 'powerlevel' in the traditional way, but for some characters I have a plan I mean to stick with and the main objective is to put it in operation. I do have a project to take every melee armor and attack set to 50 one way or another. The alt I mentioned is claws mostly because I didn't have a claws yet. And others are experiments or jokes; some of my favorite characters started out as jokes, like an ice/plants blaster made to claim the punny name 'Ice Minstrel'.
  15. The theme of my second Torchbearer SG the Crowned Heads is Royalty. So I'm going to make sure the base is full of tony and high class stuff. When I couldn't find a part that faced in one direction or the other, I went with Tech or Dividers bits for White and Arcane for Black. Board is four White Plates to which small Brick surfaces have been added. The position shown is familiar and has a name; bonus geemies if you know what it is. If the board becomes popular I might set up problems to solve on it.
  16. With Ouroboros, is there in fact any content that a character is excluded from by levelling past it? I know there used to be. High level characters used to spend inf for a crack at the fortune teller mission. You had to be careful not to bypass the contacts that gave it out. Magic origin characters had the inside track. Now I just call it up in Ouro after running enough Moonfires. It's more fun when you have a few slots in your low level attacks. The other content you might miss by outlevelling is the safeguard/mayhem missions. This is a bigger deal redside than blue. Even then, there are workarounds. I'm sure I'm missing something.
  17. Blue Cheer - Parchment Farm
  18. Everything continues to work as well as it used to. Saved costumes sometime decide that they aren't allowed to access parts on a new character and those need to be replaced manually. Never had an issue with saved AE files. You will need your Missions, Costumes, and Custom_Critter directories to use them.
  19. Remember also that RttC accepts -tohit enhancements. This is a good place to drop a Dark Watcher's Despair recharge slow proc. Frankenslotting is the way to go there IMO.
  20. My vague understanding is that task forces were originally conceived as team activities that would take several days to complete. I remember being told this is why, unhappily, you can't invite new members once you start; happily, it's also why you're still in the TF if you get disconnected. The idea would be that the players who proposed to run them would do so over the course of several days. They'd log in at an agreed time, run a couple missions, and then log out until they finished. That way no one would get too annoyed or bored with multiple defeat all Clockwork missions strung together in one storyline. Task forces were pretty peripheral content in the early game, until the introduction of accolades and reward merits.
  21. Newe base and SG on Torchbearer, the Crowned Heads. CH-10012. Entrance: : The old keep: We're tough on crime at the Crowned Heads. Here's the Tower and the good old chopping block: Throne room and great hall: Like I said, tough... on... crime...
  22. Starting up a different character series on TB, this one involves historical figures. First up is Ranavalona -- This one is based on Queen Ranavalona I of Madagascar, one of my favorite historical queens, a complex and interesting figure. Not going to get that long gown quite right, but I did what I could. Ranavalona also figures in the George MacDonald Fraser novel Flashman's Lady, so if you're a fan of the series like me you may recognize the name.
  23. Regen would not be my first choice for an endgame character, but if you want to just check out an attack set it excels at that thanks to Quick Recovery at 4. There are several things it excels at even in the late game: like Rularuu task forces and Hamidon raiding. It excels at these because at least to some extent, if you're Regen damage is damage. You won't be taken by surprise because your armor has holes. Or rather, it has holes to just everything. You can if you want to try to build Regen up for toughness, taking Fighting pool, and investing in defense and resistance set bonuses. If you're doing that, you're starting from behind. I took Fighting and did that on a brute I made as an experiment to see if a Regen brute could be built for tanking. It sorta works, but I'd rather have another tanker or tanking brute for the master run. On my fire/regen scrapper I decided that chasing defense caps and running fighting was all lipstick on a pig. Instead, I play the character as a melee blaster, taking invisibility and recall, and not expecting to live through everything. Instead, I went all for recharge and slow resistance. This character works great for soloing Shadow Shard TFs and lower level task forces, and as such earns a lot of merits solo.
  24. It's happened to me more than once when the creator tells you have more room for elements than a map actually allows.
  25. Interesting. Does this work with other letters, like maybe T?
