  1. "Funny" thing about Death From Below and Drowning in Blood; the two factions already DO run the same map! All that happens is that the game hides the Longbow for Villains, and hides the Arachnos for Heroes. If you manage to glitch out and enter these instances without a faction, it's possible to get -both- Arachnos and Longbow NPCs at the same time. I'll try to snap a screenshot next time I do it.
  2. I'm just posting this to demonstrate to someone what the City of Heroes costume creator is capable of.
  3. Sorry, @crytilis, but is this the same one which @Number Six was just telling us about, or a different launcher?
  4. Ha, yeah. I can't even install Outpost on modern rigs since the installer needs to test your processor to approve a system before installation begins. The processor speed tests have returned a "divide by zero" error since at least the early 2000s on any attempt I've made to install the game from CD since. Mercifully, someone did make a modern-rig hack-job port of the code, so we can once again play Outpost, even in this modern age! . . . now if only someone could finish the danged game.
  5. Sorry, I don't follow, @WanderingAries. Could you elaborate, please?
  6. um,@Twisted Toon? That character looks exactly like the sort of thing which I see winning all the time. Why were you surprised?
  7. The game discs are regrettably no real help nowadays in regard to playing the game. Pretty much anything left on those discs that is still relevant to the modern game is so tiny that you probably wouldn't notice a different between the download times with or without them pre-installed. Have you had any luck with changing the Install Path? When the Installation progress bar is full and the word "Done..." shows up underneath it, can you double-click on the Homecoming (32-Bit) and/or the Homecoming (64-Bit) entries from the list? What happens when you do?
  8. The Cleveland This-Sport-is-Dying-its-Slow-Death-and-Star-Trek-Probably-Got-It-Right. That, or The Cleveland Cleavers.
  9. Is this the Undead thread, or the Puns thread!? Yee-gawds, people! (Although, also, very clever. Kudos!)
  10. Bringing on more challenging content would absolutely be ideal! Sadly, I think it's also one of the tallest orders to place on the current Dev Team here at Homecoming. Something of that scale and magnitude would be on par with a full expansion, and then have the added issue of potentially being content that isn't accessible to all players, immediately downgrading its priority compared to other projects which have a broader appeal and impact. I mean, unless the Homecoming Devs also deploy a change to allow for limited Incarnate participation at -all- levels, anyway. I don't see that happening without some really convincing demonstrations made on the benefits of removing those gates. And, of course, new content doesn't change that there is old content which gets absolutely steamrolled when bringing Invention Set Bonuses in to play. Not that I personally see that as a problem (I'm withholding judgement until I get more evidence one way or another), but it's definitely a problem to plenty of the players who frequently bring up concerns about overall difficulty. A reason against Defense Cap changes, in addition to the one Doomguide mentioned, is that Defense is not solely a tool used by Melee Sets. Time Manipulation, Cold Domination, and (the classic) Force Fields Sets are all examples of times where "squishies" have Powers which rely on Defense. One could arguably say that a Power like Personal Force Field would also increase the Defense Cap of the squishy while using it, but that adds more work and another point of failure if things get buggy. The amount of work it would take to get in there and change each Defense Power, and then rebalance them again and again until they're JUST right would be pretty time intensive on development. Of course, that's not meant to discourage anyone from spitballing more ideas! The whole situation is a tangled one and, without the Homecoming Team publishing a design document delineating their specific intent regarding the issues presented by the community, we're all less taking shots in the dark to see what ideas will stick. All the same, I think it's better to take the shots in the dark than no shots at all. Maybe we'll hit upon an idea that is either just so crazy it'll work, or so simple that no one's expressed it yet.
  11. Awesome, and thank you for taking the time to answer! That rather neatly sums up all the sticking points I have about the backend. The only thing left is to see the GUI/UX in action, I suppose. I find that's often a stumbling block in a lot of applications these days as development happens with SDKs for big operating systems that . . . well, the companies that made the kits in the first place don't even account for their own operating systems' customizability, and the kits only really display the expected GUI/UX properly under factory default settings for the OS.
  12. No .NET? A step in a good direction, @Number Six! Thanks. What else can you tell us about the new launcher? Any details on security/privacy and reliability? I remember the scare we had a while back about Tequila not being "smart enough" to avoid downloading malware from bad manifests. If some extra layer of protection could exist in whatever this replacement launcher will be, that would just be lovely!
  13. Welcome, @knightbaby85. I also received the private message you sent with your request for help. To confirm, which Operating System are you on? Are you on Windows, mac, Linux? Which Launcher did you download? Is it Tequila? It would look a little something like this: If you are using Tequila, and you click on "Options" you should see a window that looks a little something like this: Take note to check what you "Install Path" is, and then double-check in your file browser to ensure that you have Read/Write permissions for that folder. If not, I recommend making a new folder somewhere else on your hard drive, and then redirecting Tequila to that folder using the "Browse" button in the displayed window of the above screenshot. The more details you can give (short of revealing any personal information about your computer), the better we'll be able to help troubleshoot your issues.
  14. Looks like the two Clubs have been closed (or at least I was removed from them). Thanks to whoever got around to doing that! I marked the Support Ticket as Resolved.
  15. @TheOtherTed? I like the cut of your jib. You and I should host a costume contest some time.
  16. Here are some samples of the name colours: Regular (Blue) This is default. Team (Green) When you are a member of a Team, this will be the colour for your name. Help Me! (Purple) Going in to the "Help" menu and selecting the "Help Me!" Option from there. Helper (Yellow) Going in to the "Help" menu and selecting the "Helper" Option from there. Roleplaying (Pink) Typing the command "/roleplaying" or going in to the "Help" menu and selecting the "Roleplaying" Option from there.
  17. Also: Welcome Home, @Alex-ander!
  18. Oyllo there, and thanks for the question! Regrettably, I'm afraid I'm just on my work break at the moment and don't have much time, but here are some links which may help you. I've put them in an order where the first few links should be the most helpful. If you have any pointed or particular questions thereafter, I'm certain the community will be happy to help! https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/6464-tipsamptricks-for-roleplayers/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/9999-new-to-rping/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/6611-what-kind-of-rp-you-want/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19633-role-playing-questions/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/10642-is-there-a-site-for-hosting-various-homecoming-rp-based-stuff/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/7179-question-regarding-character-traitsbio-vs-gameplay-reality/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/13321-help-my-character-did-something-uncharacteristic/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/20878-community-project-the-roleplay-scale/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/9312-what-are-your-thoughts-on-long-form-story-arcs/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/1433-the-big-question-of-continuity/ https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/4788-how-does-rp-affect-your-character-build/ See you around, @Miltonaut, and Welcome Home!
  19. Indeed. And who knows how unstable the netcode was back then. Really, when I stop to think about it, it's not -that- surprising, all things considered . . . but it still gives me a moment of appreciation of where we came from, and where we are now.
  20. Well, @holymittens provided us all with some very helpful information regarding mission development a while back, with permission (as I understand it). If you would be up and willing, @Piecemeal(tm), I think it would be stellar to have your perspective on the development you've done, with as much detail as you're allowed to provide! In any event, thank you for your time and your open line of communication with us. It really means a lot!
  21. Definitely don't be a slave to the rules. That's solid advice! It relates back to the #2 Tip I posted. Fudge things in your players' favour if it helps keep them engaged and enjoying themselves. It's also part of why I personally recommended against D&D. There are people who will argue rules until everyone is blue in the face and walking away from the table. D&D's rules have been known to invite a lot of arguments. So, being flexible and saying "eh, we'll wing this part" is generally in your best interest. Also, subject matter comfort levels. I don't know the sort of dynamic you have with your family, and where taboos might lie, but I've found that while playing with complete strangers that it's usually handy to have the Blackball option. Basically, if someone is uncomfortable with something, they can put forward their signifier to the GM, and you just move on without dragging it out. I've usually seen it invoked during scenes of violence or intimacy, or mentions of mental illness or insanity. Again, not sure what your personal family dynamic is like, but having something like that available to your players (and yourself) could be helpful too.
  22. Wait, a group named their servers "Torcbearer," while there's a Torchbearer Shard here on the Homecoming servers? This is going to cause a lot of confusion . . .
  23. Faction Chat is still a setting, so that's a possibility. And sometimes messages just get lost in the shuffle. I sometimes get dozens of messages when I advertise a team. It's not an easy thing to always reply to everyone.
