  1. I believe it only removed the Interrupt on Aid Other. Aid Self still interrupts, to the best of my knowledge, but does gain an Endurance-over-time ticker.
  2. Level 14, but yeah. I generally made the Echo: Galaxy run on each of my new characters, just to get it out of the way. It's also handy to have the Ouro Portal for those times when one wants to help others gain access.
  3. Those are getting postponed until Page 8.
  4. There aren't any true rules in regard to that, just various forms of etiquette which different users have. Some people are absolutely appalled at the possibility of multiple threads on the same topic, but they tend to be in a minority. Most folks will just look at this thread, nod/shake-their-head, and move on to the next one. Don't worry about it! Feel free to speak about this topic in any appropriate thread. Just bear in mind that continuous posts repeating the same thing over and over tend to be frowned upon, and if they're done with clearly malicious intent, a GM/Mod is liable to lock and/or hide/delete the duplicate threads. Also, don't "necro" multiple threads on the same subject. That's particularly bad form in most people's opinion. The short version: Feel free to be relaxed. It's not the end of the world to post the same suggestion within two weeks of a different user doing so. It just happens some times.
  5. Heh, it was actually asked for (again) not too long ago, but your title is much more to-the-point and clear. Here's that previous thread: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/20654-from-humble-origins-to-greatness/
  6. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/12679-rapid-isolator-badge-and-taxi-services-available-on-everlasting/
  7. I mean, another difficulty option could be Inverse Level Shifts. Rather than being +3, so you're fighting at level 53, have the game smack you with up to -3 Shifts, so you're still a Level 50 with all your Level 50 Incarnate stuff, but the con system treats you as 47. Thus the enemies can go up, relative to your Combat Level, to +7.
  8. Croatoa and Nerva Archipelago. The old witches in both of these locations have always been year-round, even on Legacy. This was done to make it easy for players to get their costume slots on Alts during the off-season. The Croatoa Witch is just south of the Tram, hugging the exterior wall dividing the town from the forest. The Nerva Witch is on the tiny island you land on when you use the Base Telepad to access Nerva.
  9. I do believe that was fixed with New Positrons 1 and 2. I've run it at level 8, and faced level 8 enemies . . . EXCEPT for a few key bosses, such as Dr. Buzzsaw (who the Homecoming Devs already fixed), and that Clockwork Boss on the second mission.
  10. I built a photo booth in my base with pure white walls and extra lighting, as well as a series of steps for them to stand on to get different heights. I then use another account while multiboxing to be the photographer, minimizing their height and giving them Hover so I can maximize their positioning. There might be an easier way, but that's the way I've set it up for myself.
  11. Veteran Levels unlocking higher difficulty isn't actually a half-bad idea . . . There's precedent for it in game design in general. Think of how many games there are where you have to complete the game on Hard Mode before Extra Hard Mode is unlocked, and then Impossible after that. That could be an interesting twist, and I wouldn't object to it! Nice thoughts, @zenijos10
  12. . . . which is what I -meant- . . . but after seeing my typo, I said "F-it! It's 'Handbuff' now."
  13. The reason is largely an engine limitation. There are reports of players exceeding the Speed Cap before there -was- a Speed Cap and nuking their entire server with a runtime error (not a pun) or a stack overflow. At least for run speed. Flight Speed cap, I think had to do with being able to control your character at that speed, or the AI getting SERIOUSLY bonkers. Maybe the new hardware and new 64-bit client could support higher Speed Caps, but that's not for me to say.
  14. Don't forget potential population schism issues with multiple servers with separate codebases. Unless the Devs can implement some kind of truly Global Chat system, which would allow players on Live, Beta, and Special servers to all communicate with one another.
  15. Oh, that was explained by @Doc_Scorpion: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14753-why-are-you-a-geek/?tab=comments#comment-203612
  16. D-Mac did it better! (Sorry. I had to.)
  17. As I understand it, the sound fonts were open source, but the music was still composed by someone. Who that someone is . . . well . . . I would very much like to thank them! And no offense to Jason Graves, as they are very clearly a talented musical composer . . . but Going Rogue's music just didn't "fit" with the rest of the game, in my opinion. Something was lost in establishing that level of professional musical detail. Something just didn't translate, and the music of Going Rogue definitely sets it apart from the rest of the game, making it almost alien. Which . . . I guess, is appropriate, all things considered.
  18. Oh god! I forgot about arcades! That was a big one, heh. My grandma was taking care of me for a day while my mom was busy with something else. I was . . . 4? I dunno. Young enough to be very impressionable. My grandma had the plan of bringing me to the mall. My mom warned her to keep me out of the arcade. My grandma, seemingly wanting to defy my mother's parenting decided "what harm could there be?" (Note: This is back when smoking was allowed in arcades, and I was asthmatic.) Long story short, as I personally can't remember all the details, but my grandma apparently thought I became possessed by a demon due to how excited and uncontrolled I became when soaking in the sights and sounds of the arcade! I think Galaga probably broke my young brain, as I distinctly have memories of playing THAT beast for hours and hours on end, but being unable to get past the level after the first bonus round. . . . yeah . . . that fateful day . . . too young to really remember it in detail, but impactful enough that my family remembers the terror I visited upon my poor grandmother.
  19. So, uh . . . does anyone know where to track down the old music composer(s)? I would rather like to hear some of their other, non-City work. Get a feel for if they're someone who might take some commission work . . .
  20. Trying to touch these mechanics in particular would be something of a powder keg, from my perspective. It's a terrible balancing act for any Dev working on "endgame" for City of Heroes, which has ALWAYS had the great strength of alts being the true infinite endgame. If you put in some kind of endless grind awards, it may fulfil the desires of those character-monogamists out there, but you then risk alienating the players who want to make use of their 1000 character slots. I haven't got to experience it in full depth, but I'm content with the present Veteran Level reward scheme. It's there for those who want to strive for it. It doesn't stretch on forever. It doesn't incentivize endless grind to the exclusion of actual gameplay. I don't think it's perfect, but it's a damned sight better than what it could become, especially if this were still a for-profit game. Of course, if some folks can brainstorm up some nice ideas, I'll be sure to toss them my support!
  21. Imparting personal milestones in such a way is definitely a positive thing! Good show, @Dafydd Hywel. I know I'd like to see more players take that kind of approach. I do think, though, that it would be nice to add some Badges or other unique rewards to the Cape and Aura Missions. Maybe even bump up their difficulty as well. Make them Milestone missions again, but do NOT tether costume pieces to it. I very, very much approve of Costume pieces being 100% accessible from character creation. . . . with one important exception: Signature NPC Costume Pieces. I still think it should be possible to earn those by defeating the Signature NPC (maybe X number of times), or by defeating another player in PvP who has earnt that Costume piece. BUT, on the subject of this thread's original topic: @Dr. Gemini got it right. Kudos to you, Doc.
  22. I don't mean to harp, but searching in-game may be most productive. The forums offer a great potential tool, but without more people checking here, the forums lose a lot of the impact they'd otherwise have for recruitment and social gathering. The LFG Channel on Everlasting has periodic requests for roleplay teams. Can't guarantee they'll be "non-comicky," but it might be a good place to start. And, of course, there are always the OOC and RP Global Channels. /chanjoin OOC /chanjoin RP Things tend to be pretty diverse in there, with quite a few tones sometimes clashing. It can be odd seeing a pastiche 1950s comic character talking to a parody of 1990s "realism," and then getting interrupted by an earnest horror from beyond space and time. But it's also a nice way to meet people and start some scenes. But, as for the particulars of your criteria . . . they pretty much align with what I run. I tend to focus on the sociological impact of living in a world such as the one expressed in this game. The setting may be unrealistic in a lot of ways, but I like to keep the characters themselves grounded in realistic human behaviour and motivations. Most of my characters recognize the inherent threats being posed to their livelihood and health and freedom, even if not the absolute scale of those threats. And, just like in real life, they continue to soldier on with their day-to-day routines, searching for various activities and interactions which can give their lives meaning and fulfilment in a world where they could literally be snuffed out of existence on the whims of some higher power(s). It's perhaps a little bleak, but the constant undercurrent of hope and comfort in the mundane gives things a nice, warm, "fuzzy" feeling to help offset the otherwise crushing existential ennui imparted by the knowledge that everything could just END at any moment. It also opens the door to explain the psychological drive for some people to join groups like Vahzilok, attend Carnie parties despite the obvious risks, or push themselves to the limit to join Malta or the Knives of Artemis. Just like real life. So, hey! If that interests you; hit me up in-game! @VileTerror is my main account.
  23. A Handbuff Control / Whip Assault Dominator, DUH!
  24. Shit! Yes! . . . derrrr. I mean a Straight, or a Flush, or . . . crap. *glances back and forth* . . . would you believe me if I said I was a shark at Poker?
  25. Ok, so, I've not confirmed this to the point of satisfying scientific rigour, but from what I'm seeing . . . Level 22 (30) Mercenaries / Traps Mastermind in Siren's Call. My Poison Trap does approximately 2 seconds of Hold on a Player, but 6 seconds of Hold on NPCs while in PvP Zones. Tested on actual Minion-rank enemies to confirm. My Web Grenade is applying about 2.3 seconds of Immobilize to a Player, and 17.99 seconds of Immobilize to NPCs. Tested on actual Minion-rank enemies to confirm. My Spec Ops' Web Grenade is applying about 1 second of Immobilize to a Player, and about 17 seconds to NPCs. Tested et cetera. My Force Field Generator is providing me with Resistance to Status Effects rather than Protection, regardless of the source of the Status Effect. The Stun from the Warrior Crusher only lasted about a second and a half on me while under the Generator's bubble, but I definitely got Stunned (where normally the Protection is higher enough to prevent this entirely in PvE content). So . . . yeah. It's an interesting mixed bag there. I definitely want to see what would happen with four players: Two flagged PvE, each teamed with one of two flagged PvP and hostile to one another. What would happen? Devs! Have you conducted any experiments of this nature yet? What were your findings?
