  1. You can build your own SG base when you get to lvl 10. The reason to join a SG is a pool of people to play with regularly (whether for teaming, RP, or both). If PUG's and hanging out at Pocked D scratch that itch for you, there's no reason to join one.
  2. You know, I'm pretty sure you're right about that, now as I consider it. How time flies! Great game, though, regardless.
  3. Sure, they're twenty years old. But people are still playing that game twenty years later, because it's fun. Getting a knockback result on the universal table and smashing your opponent through three areas worth of buildings is a hoot! 😁👍
  4. Yeah, I think the US is fighting too many wars on too many fronts to mount an invasion of the Rogue Isles. For now, they've got to let Longbow keep them distracted and occupied while they lock down their other problems that they're dealing with. Once the war with the Rikti is won, then perhaps they could turn their full attention to Etoile. It's important to keep in mind, though, that many nations in this alternate Earth may have super powered rulers and/or defenders. This makes the US less of a superpower than it is in the real world. Even if the Rogue Isles were their only problem, it would not be a simple one-sided struggle. Recluse has a huge army, high-tech weaponry, and a large cadre of powerful, super-powered beings at his disposal. An all out war would be devastating to both sides.
  5. Always cracks me up when I see threads where people are asking to add some place in game to RP. Apart from Atlas Park and Pocket D, where you see people hanging out and RP'ing all the time, there's like 15 or 20 places listed in this topic you can go for RP. Maybe we need to sticky this here and pin it on the discord, as well. Then again, maybe too people are just too lazy to do a little browsing in the discord or the forums. Yeah, that's probably it, now as I think of it. 🤷‍♂️
  6. Grandville has always had the most visual impact on me. Praetoria is very cool-looking, too. I actually like the look of most of the game, though. I guess Croatoa is the zone I find the most visually lackluster.
  7. Overall, it was very enjoyable to watch. One thing bothers both myself and my son, though...
  8. I don't see how superior reflexes would allow you to avoid the effects of a cloud of poison gas or a psionic attack.
  9. I have played plenty of toons without it, all the way into incarnate T3s. They all work without it. Hasten amplifies your DPS, but you don't usually need that level of DPS to perform at +4/8 level. Now, whether or not you still enjoy playing the character without it (I do, but that's just me) is entirely subjective to the individual.
  10. Well, I would say it's more of a PUG vs SG team dynamic. In a SG, you can discuss what is expected from each member of the team and plan accordingly. I mean, technically, I guess you can with PUGs too, but that's not actually how it works most of the time. In a PUG, you get different players of all different experience levels and philosophies of play. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit, so to speak. Basically, if you want players to play each AT in the way that you think the AT is meant to be played, you need to form a supergroup and structure it that way. Expecting randos in a PUG to share your point of view (or agree to conform to it) is probably not realistic. You might also get a player like myself, who is a very poor multi-tasker, and just misses a lot of chat msgs because they're focused in on the fight. If someone refuses to take cues from you when you ask (please do this/don't do this), you still have the option of booting them from the team. Not helpful once you've started a task force, since you can't replace them, but maybe it's less harmful than letting them stay and ignore your requests?
  11. Dibbs on the character name Lizzie Borden. 😆
  12. Sentinel is a worst blaster: Agreed Scrapper is a worst stalker: Don't agree. Dominator is horrible for leveling: Non-optimal, but not horrible. Certainly less horrible than a controller. Tank is a worst brute: Used to be true, but no longer. Some now complain a Brute is a worst tank. Having several lvl 50 tanks and brutes (both are great AT's) I would say a brute is the happy medium between scrapper and tank and right where it should be.
  13. I have one that I've leveled into the mid-30s. Yes, it's a fun set, even if the gun animations can be pretty goofy looking.
  14. Yes, as you correctly point out, it's not a good film and no amount of special effects will make it so. I would not recommend seeing the first Avatar if you want to enjoy a film. I would recommend seeing it on the big screen in 3D, if you want to enjoy the experience of exploring an alien world, though. 🤓 Regarding this sequel, I will withhold my opinion until I've had the chance to view it as both a film watcher and an earthly explorer of alien environments. 🤷‍♂️
  15. An unlockable NPC sidekick is a cool idea for some Batman and Robin-type solo play. Not sure if it is feasible, given the complexity of the code and the size of the dev team but, of course, that is something for the devs to decide.
  16. I mean... it looks pretty, dang good to me. Positional defenses well above soft cap for most everything except Psi. Resists pushing close to 90% for most everything but Psi. What more could a tank ask for? 🤷‍♂️
  17. This kind of paranoid, crazy-talk is already enough to get the thread shut down. That aside, I'm okay with your healing set suggestion. The healing sets could use a little love. I feel they're mostly mined for procs and globals because the complete sets aren't as useful by comparison.
  18. Huh. Weirdly, I never noticed this. Maybe I just assumed you could reactivate toggles while resting, so I never tried it. 😛🤷‍♂️
  19. Darn near every SG I've been involved in (including the two I belong to presently) has and do use discord for organizing teams and events. It's just a very useful tool for that purpose. For PUGs, I don't much see the point. I never have any trouble finding PUG's to play with. What I don't see Discord being used much for is voice communication during play. I've only done this once and was surprised to find that I enjoyed it quite a lot, which I didn't expect. It's not something I have encountered since the one time, though. Honestly not really sure why that's the case.
  20. I'm not grokking you here. Maybe I just haven't noticed. How is it different now? What changed? 🤔
  21. I loved the first Avatar. But you don't go to Avatar to enjoy the story. You go to enjoy a stunning auditory and visual experience. The movie (first one, at least) must be seen in 3D to truly understand why it was such a sensation. It's the first movie I ever saw in 3D that really felt like the technology had arrived and delivered a completely immersive experience. I literally felt like I was on an alien planet when I watched that film. I have also watched it on our big flat screen TV at home- a completely forgettable experience, by comparison. I certainly hope to see the new film in 3D. Not sure if I will be able to, or if the experience will be as mind-blowing for me as it was with the first film. I certainly hope so. If the story is actually good this time, that would certainly be delicious frosting on an already scrumptious cake. 😋
  22. @SeraphimKensai is correct about Spring Attack, but if you want to span teleport-type AOE attacks, it IS one more you can add to the arsenal. Just be prepared to be very underwhelmed by the results. As @SomeGuy says, Shield Charge is not a PBAOE. I must say, though, having recently levelled my first /Shld scrapper, the amount of damage that power does is truly awe inspiring. Not only is it the best defense set attack I've ever used, it outperforms many mainline attack set powers, as well. If you haven't tried this set, I must highly recommend it. It's extremely satisfying to use.
  23. It varies widely, depending on what AT and powersets I'm playing. Take Praetorians, for example. The mix of rangers and seers will utterly wreck some of my characters, but other characters cut through them like butter. I don't really hate fighting any specific foe. Maybe Devouring earth. Those can get kind of tedious. What I want out of a mob fight is to be stiffly challenged, but still be able to achieve victory- even if that means taking a dirt nap or two in the process. I don't want the fight to fell like a pushover. I don't want the fight to feel impossible or futile. Actually, if there is one mob that I truly loathe, I guess it would have to be Phantoms and their Decoys. I autotarget with tab key "nearest target" and this invariably locks onto them, forcing me to retarget manually with the cursor. Also, the Decoys are invulnerable. Also, they hang around for an unreasonably long time after the death of the mob that summoned them. I think that is actually what infuriates me the most about them. Okay, yeah. I changed my mind. Burning hatred of Phantom Decoys... 🤬
  24. That's pretty cool. How much did that dongle cost ya, and where can you buy it at?
