The powerset you'd love, but you know will never be implemented
Go0gleplex replied to SteelR4t's topic in General Discussion
Battlesuit: Offensive & Defensive lets you slot powers from some other power sets...so you end up building a really unique set up. Trade off would be costume parts limited to armor/tech only and slightly higher endurance costs. Something I had been thinking about before I left the game in 2008-9. Would have liked to see water blades in that power set for some high lethality damage. The ultimate power for a Controller type: Cloth or Thread manipulation. Nothing like having the baddies' own clothing shred itself then burrow into their bodies and shredding it...Invasive Weave. (evil grin) Masterminds would appreciate Golems/Puppets....or Elementals....or Insect/Serpent/Spider types... -
So imagine our Devs decided to go for CoH 2...

Even if it's Air National Guard...Crey & Family private jets...Longbow heli-base...PPD air patrol...Kaiju chasers!...Rescue ops and Coast Guard.... -

Boomtown is partially revitalized, a private hero group (or is it) moves into the Hollows and begins driving the gangs out of Cherry Hills and Red River, Sky Way City and Faultline's construction advances with more buildings up, terrain recovered, etc., Perez Park is finally cleaned up (I mean, it's pretty useless as a zone currently really) or the Shivans make a break thru from Galaxy City into it thru the war wall, An aquarium/amusement park zone has been repaired and re-opened north of Kallisti by Boomtown and is now a Carnie turf war with the Family butting in, with the Lords of Death defeated and Kings being a massive Urban Renewal success (really, decide if its offices, slums/burbs, or industrial...the current mix makes no sense from city planning standpoint...especially with the PPD HQ right in the middle of it all. really?!!?) the Skulls presence is reduced as the King Pin (Praetorian Syndicate Survivor) rises. A new gang (Skorpions-backed by Professor Echo) appear and lay siege to Crey (a tech war in the truest sense) over left over Rikti salvage around Paragon. There really should be an airport zone given Paragon being a major city...and between Perez, The Heights in the Hollows, the islands and fringe areas in Talos, Fringe areas in Founders...that's a lot of waste space. Perez makes sense. The hollows, given the size of the park there...roads or trails should be established to reach the lookouts and such. The islands should have docks if not actually designated as nature preserves, especially if someone spent the $$ to put a police call box out there. And who in their right mind is going to allow Devouring Earth there and around Terra Volta to remain when they are isolated and no chance of being reinforced? We call that a turkey shoot party where I'm from. lol -
Get READY? Is that like...a Rock Band or something? :P

I'll be tagging 57 in a couple months myself. Still no signs of aliens to partner up with though. Dang it. ><

That brings back memories of so many players hunting the badge that new toons showing up to run the tutorial had to wait for respawns and then try to beat the hunters to 'em. Totally forgot about that 'til now....though the part of running pointlessly long distances thru a zone that is essentially half empty (start to thugs) wasn't mentioned. 😉 lol

Major Holocaust: LETS BURN! Stygian Flare: SAVE THE OREOS! Major Chill: DING DONG! Cool guy calling!

Running a mission in KR this afternoon and literally ran into a Firestorm clone. Didn't catch the name...but the look and colors were pretty much spot on, including the flaming hair. May not be exact...so skirting the line...really close. 🍍

Are there any server(s) that are more child friendly?

Yeah. I'm on Torch myself and seldom see much going on the chat channels and even when it's there, it's pretty much looking for groups and such. -

Yeah...I started playing July 2004 and I remember Boom being there....and the mad rush when The Hollows opened up (along with a ton of dirt naps from pumicites). Also remember a lot more mobs in the fringe areas of Talos than there are now. The SE red zone is totally deserted...making me wonder why it's still a red zone when it's the safest area on the map now. The Babbage hunts in Skyway's Land of the Lost were epic as well. I guess now it only shows up in north Boom? -

I totally forgot about the comics. Ahhh...nostalgia. Does anyone even organize Hydra hunts in Perez anymore. Not run into a single mission related to them since I came back. Weirdness. -
Have one of the folks in the clubs start a "Tsoo's on first?" joke. Have a repair van with the logo for "Clockwork Repair" on it. A guy in a trenchcoat somewhere in Skyway or Talos on his cell phone saying "If you don't return her...I will find you..." A pair of troops in the Rikti Zone; one asking if the other is ready for Independence Day with an affirmative response... Surprised there's not a District 9 reference somewhere around the Lost haunts, given the mutation issue. 😉 or a sign fronting one of the many construction sites advertising "Nakatomi Tower coming soon". and just for the annoyance factor, a sketchy guy talking to a nerdy guy in an Atlas or Mercy alley talking, the sketchy guy holding a wood mask. NG-"So if I buy that mask and put it on I can be a superhero?" SG-"of course bro. It'll be totally smokin!"

Had just gotten my Tank to 50 when they started the numerous nerfs and power adjustments; lost that sense of 'Hero' when I went from handling aggro for a dozen to barely surviving 7...and group wipes increasing across the board. The Perez Tree Maze was a nightmare, especially when low on Inspirations, the healer toast, and health bar flashing red as you were either escaping or just trying to FIND the mission entrance. A lot more diversity in mob types within zones than there is now it seems...and story lines were less fixed than they seem to be from contacts. -
Yeah. I get that. Thought for sure the name for my Plant/Time Controller would be taken...but nope. Lifecycle was totally clear and rampaging in Praetoria.

Pretty much all of the dark ones, my vision isn't what it used to be after all. 😉 I've been in the engineering field for several decades and can see a certain level of practicality in both the Arachnos and Council bases in their construction. Arachnos have all the ledges to allow for multiple firing points in a low light environment and dark uniforms, spiders striking from all around. The mesh is also deliberate for visual disorientation as well as lighter to transport, faster to assemble, and provides flexible attachment points for, piping, conduit, and other appurtenances. The maps that actually bother me due to my profession are several of the city sectors such as Skyway and Boomtown. A lot of engineering and physics do not/would not structures. *chuckle* The downsides of a former workaholic...too closely tied to work. lol

GLaDOS was in charge of the cake. I think she said she was even preparing a special room for it. :P lol

Likely Faultline for me. Sure, the lost are a problem and clockwork are all over like seagulls in a dump, but the place has potential with all the rebuilding happening...not to mention the best donuts in Paragon. Nice architecture, newer digs, burgeoning businesses, and a quaint park all lit up at night by the soft undulating glow of the war walls. Nerva Archipelago on the flip side would be the second choice. Plenty of sea air...not a lot of crazy high rises and plenty of smaller islands to set up a nice cabin (with panic room) on away from the nests of the Lost, Family, and the conflicts between Arachnos and Longbow...yet still be close to shopping and entertainment.

subterranean satellite dishes? 😉 Okay...I can see how this 'could' be made to work logically and per engineering & telecom principles. Treat the satellite emplacements like kaiju in a way where they are set up in silos...rise and deploy when the mission arc gets tripped or as part of a TF. Have to destroy them fast before the 5th or whomever can hack the Particle Beam sats in orbit to rain fiery doom upon Zone X or call in Shivans/Rikti invaders etc. -
Martin O'Brien was the poster child for what happens when you let a child genius watch way too much MacGuyver, read too many comics, and then ignore them while they play with those old worn out Crey microwaves, clockwork, and bits of uncollected broken tech from hero-villain clash sites they kept dragging home. By the age of 16, Martin had built his first power cell and armor...and then refined it as he got older. Now 22 yrs old, he has adopted the moniker of 'Subatomical' and taken to the streets to join in the good fight against evil...and to score with the cute girls.

Been playing several toons...and once you hit Indy Port/Talos Isle...it seems like all of the half dozen contacts I have give the same Sky Raider, Tsoo, Family hunt, and Freak missions..at the same time. I've almost come to just go with radio missions instead since it seems to be the only way to get variety. And Kings gives almost nothing but Skulls... The Hollows are a better place to run around than Kings for mission variety in the 5-12 range.

Major Holocaust: Fire Melee/Rad. Armor Brute Major Allan of the USAF was the experimental pilot of a spacecraft using a new drive system reverse engineered from Rikti salvage. The test was fine until the engine engaged…and exploded in a massive surge of radioactive fire that plummeted into the atmosphere. Major Allan was presumed dead…however his mutated body washed ashore in the Rogue Islands with fearsome radioactive fire powers, his flesh burned away leaving a partially skeletal body trapped within this special space suit and an extremely warped mind. Now burning a swath of terror across the Rogue Isles he has adopted the name of Major Holocaust.

Make zone 1 volcanic with lava fields, tubes, and caverns. Zone 2 - pirates, smugglers, etc on one side of the bay and rich tycoons with their private security and such on the other. Coralax and/or kaiju in the bay between. Zone 3 - Merc. Training base on one of the small islands, sanitarium/ questionable medical labs on another, tsunami destroyed district and salt marsh on the main with a central suburbia type urban area (praetorian refugee central?) -
