  1. Beam Rifle is a better supportive power set. Now, Dual Pistols' cryo rounds are great in Praetoria to slow all the danged ambushes. But other than that, it's incendiary rounds all day long. Beam Rifle offers both -res and -regen which are great for a support character, especially a Defender. Also, Beam Rifle is one of the best single target ranged power sets, and Dual Pistols is one of the best AoE ranged power sets. My suggestion: Go Beam Rifle on a Defender, and go Dual Pistols on a Sentinel or Blaster.
  2. Demons/Cold Mastermind is one of the best AV/GM killers in the game, between the -res from Demons, and how OP Cold Domination is on Masterminds. (I know some will argue with me on that, but yes, Cold Domination is OP on Masterminds and should be nerfed. And no, Cold Domination should not be buffed on Defenders. I've seen that suggestion before, and it's laughable.)
  3. Radiation Emission is a great power set, but it's seen by a lot of hard mode runners as "not nearly as valuable" as Cold Domination for four reasons. Up until Page Four, Radiation Emission's debuff toggles were as slow as molasses. Thankfully, Radiation Infection was sped up in Page Four. Cold Domination offers +defense, which is very valuable in hard modes and Incarnate trials. Radiation Emission only offers -30% resistance on Defenders, -22.5% resistance on Controllers/Corruptors/Masterminds. On the other hand, Cold Domination offers -60% resistance on Defenders, and -54% resistance on Controllers/Corruptors/Masterminds. (Yeah, Sleet and Heat Loss are kind of OP on Controllers/Corruptors/Masterminds.) This is the big one. Cold Domination also gives endurance to your team via Heat Loss. In all honesty, both will do great at debuffing an AV or GM. Cold will be slightly better, but in the end, it really doesn't matter. Many hard mode runners may poo-poo Rad Emission, but they will pretty much poo-poo anything that isn't Cold Domination, Nature Affinity, Thermal Radiation, or Kinetics, so take it with a large grain of salt. FWIW, Radiation Emission is seen as not that great on Masterminds because the +recharge from Accelerate Metabolism does nothing on your henchmen, and Mutation does nothing on your henchmen as well. So it's better on Corruptors, Controllers, and Defenders, but it's still perfectly playable on a Mastermind.
  4. When respeccing now, you need to choose your secondary power first. Just how it works as of Page 5.
  5. You are. Energy Melee has Power Crash, which is one of the best Stalker AoE attacks.
  6. There's a level 10 - 14 mission from Praetor Sinclair titled "Take Down Cockatrice." At one point in the mission, you encounter Belladonna Vetrano, who says something, and then teleports out. You're immediately hit with ambush waves of Resistance. Well, on a level 14 Robotics/Nature Affinity Mastermind, that's not what happened. Belladonna Vetrano said something to me (what she is supposed to say), and "teleported" out. But she didn't teleport... she merely turned completely invisible and untargetable, and started attacking my robot henchmen. She took them all out in a few hits. Then I was hit with the Resistance ambush waves. I kept having to repeatedly resummon and re-equip my robot henchmen, between the Resistance ambush waves and the invisible and untargetable Belladonna Vetrano repeatedly destroying them. To make matters worse, Belladonna started following me around, repeatedly taking out my bots and I could do nothing about it. I strongly suspect that Belladonna Vetrano is flagged to become invisible and ignore PCs when she "teleports out," but does not ignore pets. I checked the combat log and the pet combat log and confirmed that, outside of AoE attacks like Bullet Rain, she completely ignored me and focused only on my henchmen. Please fix this as this makes the mission extremely difficult for Masterminds to complete. I barely did so.
  7. Trick Arrow is the best debuff power set in the game. Better than Cold, IMO.
  8. To be fair, it has some advantages over IRC. Namely that you can continue to see conversations after you log off, with no break in between. There's a way to do that with IRC via BNC, but it's an ugly kludge at best. And if you are worried about Discord snooping in on your computer and your activities, just use a web browser. You can even set up a separate profile with your favorite web browser exclusively for Discord. You don't have to install the client.
  9. Good, bad. In the end, it doesn't matter, because as I've said before, most people under age 35, and especially under age 30, will not use anything else. So it's either use it, or get left behind.
  10. “Annoyed by Group Fly? Talk with Null the Gull in Pocket D.” is a loading screen tip. If people can’t take the two minutes to do that, that’s on them IMO. I usually lead teams. Sometimes people complain, in which case I tell them how to disable it. Sometimes they leave instead, and that’s fine.
  11. Humorously enough, I recently found a YouTube video (only a couple of months old), from a group of it sounded like twelve year-olds covering City of Heroes. It had all of those things. I was glad to see kids playing CoH in this day and age, but man did it make me feel old.
  12. The problem is that most people under the age of 35 or so just refuse to use forums. They find them outdated and clunky, a product of a bygone age like the rotary telephone, and much prefer Discord. You may not agree with them, but that's been my experience as someone who admins forums. Heck, most newer online games don't even offer forums now and only have a Discord server.
  13. That depends on the server. Some require a forums account like Homecoming, others let you straight up create a game account on their website with nothing else required, and others require Discord.
  14. This is also why Brutes and Tankers tend to receive far fewer Vanguard merits on zone mothership raids than instanced mothership raids.
  15. I run at -1x2 from levels 2 through 20. I generally do a *lot* of content and turn off XP often, so I don’t want the low levels to take forever. Levels 21 through 30 at +0x3 or x4. 31 through 40, +1x4 or x5. 41 through 49 at +2x4 or x5. 50 at +3x5 to +3x8, depending on character.
  16. The original post has "Everlasting" written all over it. But yeah, @Greycat has the best suggestion. Play on Torchbearer or Indomitable, and turn General, Broadcast, and LFG chats off.
  17. IMO, you're better off going with SOs for gold side, (at least through First Ward). IO enhancement set values are cut in value pretty steeply at low levels, unlike SOs. You may want things like the KB protection IO enhancement, but in general, go SOs. With SOs or generic IOs, I generally slot attacks with one accuracy, one endurance reduction, two or three damage, and a recharge. Non-attack powers, it all depends.
  18. Dark Miasma is a good choice for your first Corruptor. It eases you into the support role. You can definitely test level 50 characters. Go here and then read - The freebies menu shown at the bottom of your quickchat will let you promote a character to level 50. You'll still need to train up of course.
  19. Welcome to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles! Ice Blast is great for single target damage, and Water Blast is great for AoE (area of effect) damage. It depends if you want to do better at hard targets (Ice Blast), or lots of weak mobs (Water Blast). You can't go wrong with either, nor with Dark Miasma. Both Ice Blast and Water Blast gel well with Dark Miasma to boot.
  20. Live and here are apples and oranges. When they ran the script twice on live, the game was paid, and accounts could only have a maximum of 36 characters per server (which you had to pay additional money for past the first twelve), for a total of 468. Here, you can make as many accounts as you want for free, with up to one thousand per server, for a total of 5,000. IIRC, Telephone stated that they expect about 600,000 names to be freed up below level 6.
  21. If you don’t mind keeping one hundred+ large or super inspirations stored in your in-game e-mail, and/or tank Hamidon with it (which a Brute would be better for anyhoo), then Regen is good. Otherwise, you would be much better off playing Bio or Willpower instead.
  22. The best is when you stealth run to Shen and trigger all of them at once. I ate so many purples.

Dual Pistols/Dark Miasma Corruptor is pretty great.
